Chapter Ten: Excerpt
"Thank you." The words were out before she could stop them, spilling out of her mouth quickly. Arnav froze, the cup halfway to his mouth. She blushed heavily under his intense, proving gaze, averting her own eyes. She wanted so desperately to take back those two, innocent words, knowing she had opened a can of worms she was not ready for.
He placed the cup gently back down on the table, crossing his arms over his chest. Khushi couldn't stop herself from discreetly admiring his well toned forearms, silently thanking Devi Maiyya for giving men rolled up sleeves. She mentally smacked herself at the direction her thoughts were going in, biting her lip and staring down at the simmering, brown chai in her hands.
"For what?" His voice was soft but intense, belied by a clear desire to know the truth. She shifted uncomfortably, unwilling to reveal what had been plaguing her for the last six months.
