Author's Note: Hello guys! First of all, thank u so much for the amazing response. So then, chapter 6 is here! Like always, read & don't forget to leave ur feedback!!

For any typos, I apologize sincerely. I haven't proof-read it!

CHAPTER 6

The administrative hall of FITE was bustling with students. Everyone seemed busy with their projects. Some had even reached near completion. And there in one corner sat Parth, from the 'Regional College of Engineering (RCE), Bangalore', apparently focussed on the project before him. He was making a replica of an artifial irrigation water supply. His aim was to explain how efficient artificial water sources could be for irrigational purposes. Parth was regarded as the best student of RCE. He was competitive and highly innovative. His ideas were unique and this tech fest was a challenge for him to prove his worth. He was very happy with the way his project has shaped thus far. Having worked hard for the past 3 hours, he decided to take a quick interval. Glancing one last time at his work, he left the hall, hoping to get refreshed and then resume his work later.

"Hmm...lagta hain saarein individual projects ka kaam yahin chal rahan hain. let me go inside and have a look..." thought a certain someone. She stepped inside the hall only to find it filled with activity. She marvelled at the unique ideas of some students, while scoffing at the boring projects of some others. Every student seemed to be putting their earnest efforts into their works.

"Wow!! Kitna dimmag hain inn sab mein...Just look at their projects...sab ke sab hi-fi and brilliant..." she thought.

Just then her eyes fell on a particular project that had been left on the table.

"Yeh kiska hain? Yahan aise chhod ke chala gya..."

She went to explore that project and was very impressed with the idea. Just as she was about to leave, she found a name attached to the project.

Parth.

-HOSTEL-

Sanyukta Agarwal woke up with a start. The alarm had rung for the umpteenth time, thereby breaking her peaceful abode.

9 AM.

"Oh my god!!!!" she shrieked, "Kaustuki, why didn't u wake me up yaar!! Randhir toh aaj mujhe pakka kha jayega..."

"But Sanyu, u slept so late last night, so i thought u might want to sleep in today morning. And anyway, all classes have been cancelled for the fest. So what's the rush?" replied a sleepy Kaustuki.

"What's the rush??? The rush is Randhir...i have to hurry...oh god!!" Sanyukta was clearly panicking.

She brushed her teeth, took a quick shower and ran to the lab, not bothering to have breakfast.

"Food can wait", she thought, "But i can't tolerate any more of this MCP's taunts..."

-Mechanical Lab-

She peeped into the lab quietly to find Randhir engrossed in their model.

She tiptoed inside, but...

"Sanyukta, when is ur birthday?" he asked without sparing her a glance.

"Umm...next month..." she mumbled, bracing herself for what he would say next.

"Hmm...good...remind me to gift u an alarm clock...that way u will learn to reach on time..." came his mockery.

"I have an alarm clock...i missed the alarm today...", she spoke in a even smaller voice, if that was possible.

He looked up and faced her. It looked like he wanted to say something but then thought better of it and instead kept his tool down on the table and picked up his bag.

"I am going to get some fresh air...I have made some adjustments in the measurements. Go through those in the mean time", he said coldly and left.

Sanyukta sighed and sat down to work.

Randhir was hungry. He had reached the lab at 7 am and had been working relentlessly ever since. He was pissed off with Sanyukta. She was late every single day. He wanted to scream at her today. But something stopped him. She had looked tired. He knew she must have been up late at night researching for their project. So he didn't have the heart to shout at her. Instead he decided to get some fresh air. And here he was, at the canteen. He was also hoping to meet Karan, but the latter was nowhere to be seen.

"Randhir Singh Shekhawat, right?" a voice behind him spoke.

Randhir turned to find a handsome guy, clad in blue jeans and white t-shirt, standing there, staring at him.

"Yes, u got that right. I am not surprised u know my name, I am afterall the most famous guy in FITE!" he spoke with a hint of pride.

The guy merely smiled and said, "Good to know that. And yup, I have seen ur name doing rounds here, people seem to know u quite well...I am Parth by the way, from RCE..."

"Look, I really don't have the time to chat with u...I have alot of work to do", Randhir replied, a bit annoyed. Something about Parth didn't sit well with him. The guy seemed to be very complacent. He had a soft look on his face no doubt, but behind that was an aura of a challenger out to prove a point.

"Whoa! Busy and all han? Ok then, I won't waste ur time. Just have to say one thing. Don't think for a second that u are gonna have it easy. I am here to win...and I am going to give u hosts a run for ur money..." Parth spoke with utter confidence.

"Oh really!", Randhir challenged, "Guess what? I wud like to see u try...I am bored anyway. There isn't anybody out there who has the slightest bit of talent to even challenge me, let alone win against me...So dude, bring it on I say..."

"U have no idea what I am capable of", Parth spoke, "So Randhir, brace urself!"

And with that he left. Randhir ordered food for himself, but as he sat eating it, his mind drifted off to this new guy he just met.

" U have no idea what I am capable of..." Those words still rang in his ears. And suddenly food seemed the last thing of interest to him. He got up and proceeded towards the lab. He knew he had to up his game. There was no way he could lose. Randhir Singh Shekhawat never loses to anyone.

-CITE Camp-

For the CITE professor Kabir, this tech-fest was his chance to prove to his arch enemy that he was the superior one. His enemy was none other than Prof Vardhan of FITE.

"I can go to any lenghts to destroy u Vardhan", he thought.

"Sir, we need ur help", said Karan. Prof Kabir was monitering Karan and his partner Vikram's project.

"I will join u right away Karan", said Kabir, "But first, you know how much this competition means to CITE, right?"

"Yes sir, I do", replied Karan,"Don't worry sir, nothing can stop us from winning this."

"Good Karan, very good. I am banking on you..." said Prof Kabir and accompanied Karan to check on the latter's project.

-Vardhan's cabin-

"What is it Vidushi? What do want?" said an irritable Vardhan. This girl was always bad news. She had no brain and was determined to mess with the works of the others. Prof Vardhan was always wary of her. He feared that she would be the weakest link in the FITE team and would lead to their downfall.

"Sir, I have a brilliant idea for my project. But I wanted to consult with u first", vidushi spoke.

"Go ahead...I don't have much time", replied a skeptical Vardhan. Vidushi rarely had brilliant ideas. So he doubted that latest one would be any good either.

"How about I do a a project on the importance of artificial water sources in the field of irrigation. I could create a demo...and I could point out the effiency of these water-sources especially during seasons with scarce rainfall..." she spoke excitedly. Vidushi knew the idea was brilliant. Heck, she knew the project was brilliant. But the best part is, she knew that the project would be available to her without any effort!!

Prof Vardhan was surprised. It wasn't often that Vidushi Kumar showed signs of intelligence. He looked at her approvingly and said, "That is actually quite a nice idea. U thought of it urself?"

"Yes sir, just now. I am glad u like it. I shall start working on it right away then" she said smiling and left the room.

-Mechanical lab-

Randhir returned to find Sanyukta resting her head on the table.

"What the..." he spoke in frustration, "Sanyukta! What the hell are you doing?"

"Huh!" said a shocked Sanyukta. She hadn't realized that she had dozed off, "I am so sorry Randhir...I wasn't feeling well...so I must have.."

He didn't her a chance to complete her sentence.

"Listen Sanyukta, this is the last warning I am giving u...Just go and look at the other teams out there...they are determined to win this competition. And here I am 'blessed' to have a partner who thinks it's perfectly ok to fall asleep in the middle of work, despite the fact that she came at 9 am...FREAKING 9 AM..." he shouted at her. All the anger he had been bottling up since the morning came gushing out.

She was close to tears. She had never seen him this mad. Sure they had quarreled numorous times. But this was different. He was different.

"I was hungry... I didn't have breakfast..." she tried to reason with him.

"Enough with ur excuses", he bellowed, "Either u are a cent percent in this project or u are out of it..." So saying he snatched the papers from her hand, slammed them on the desk and sat facing away from her and started working.

She remainded quiet, sometimes stealing glances at him. But he preteneded like she didn't exist.

Sanyukta's stomach rumbled. Hunger was getting the better of her. It was 1pm and she hadn't taken anything since dinner the night before. But the fierce manner in which Randhir was scribbling on his notebook told her not to mess with him at that moment.

Suddenly the room started spinning before her eyes. Her head felt heavy. And before she knew it, Sanyukta collapsed on the floor with a loud thud.

Randhir was engrossed in his work, determined to avoid the girl standing next to him. He didn't like venting his anger at her, but he didn't have a choice.

Suddenly he heard a loud thud behind him. He jerked and turned behind to find Sanyukta lying on the floor looking pale, her eyes closed, her hands at an awkward angle. And for a moment, his world stopped.
