Chapter 11:

I felt a kiss on my cheek and pulled away, "Virat, mein change karke aati hoon," I said embarrassed. He held my hand and pulled me gently towards him and cupped my face, "you look like an angel, ek picture please, akhir toh mujhe chod ke jaa rahe ho ek hafte mein," he said pleading me. My eyes filled up and I clutched onto him as I hugged him tightly. I could tell he felt guilty, he sighed pulled me back wiping my tears, "no rona dhona ok," he said pecking my forehead. I still had my eyes closed in embarrassment as I heard the sound of a picture taken from his phone. He smiled and saved it, "ab door ho ke bhi paas rahogi," he said caressing the picture. I blushed and ran to the bathroom to go change into my anarkali and take out all the jewelry. I came out and we talked for a while before I handed him my phone smiling, ek saath mein I said, he held the camera in front of us and clicked. I stared at the picture, it was so perfect, we both looked so happy together, I hugged him tightly thanking him went to set the saree and jewelry carefully inside my suitcase hiding it under all of my clothes and he winced at me, "how long till we don't hide, I want to talk to them now if you are ready," he sighed pouting at me. I looked down not able to say anything, this was so easy for him and I still hadn't even said I love you. True I knew I was falling for him, but how can I be sure that it love? The last thing I wanted was for mummy and papa to find out and then I have a change in feelings. I looked away closing my eyes and said the words I knew he was dreading; "I need some time Virat." Dead silence filled the room, he had no response; he was just gazing at me. "I have never had these feelings before and I don't want to rush anything," I said trying to explain. He got up immediately and placed his finger over my lips, "shh, chup. You need time right, tum kaho toh sari umar de sakta hoon," he said wiping my tears, "I hate tears in your eyes, ab rona band aur chalo," he said sitting me down on my bed. We talked for what seemed like hours until we both fell asleep, I felt him shift and get up placing me out of his arms and onto the bed before he kissed my forehead and left the room. I purposefully left my eyes closed, but to be honest I was completely awake. I just didn't know how to respond to his affection, he made it seem so easy but it was so hard for me to be expressive. The week passed by in what felt like seconds. He was very careful about how he acted around me now so that he didn't make me feel awkward. We hung out with bhaiya and bhabhi for a couple times and went out sightseeing too. It was finally leaving day, I looked around and surprisingly didn't see him. Finally when we reached the airport, I saw him waiting with our tickets and smiled as he handed mine to me. "Bye Manvi, it was fun getting to know you, keep in touch ok" he said hugging me. I saw Jeevika bhabhi with her eyes filled as she hugged me, "take care Manvi, we will miss you! Call me when you have a chance na, I have your number in the us," she said smiling through her cascading tears. I looked towards aunty when I heard a familiar voice "Bhaiya ko bye nahi bologi, you promised you would send me a rakhi for rakshabandhan na," Viren Bhaiya said hugging me tightly. I smiled and hugged him back, "I will miss you bhaiya, pakha bejungi," I said holding back my tears. I bent down to take uncle's blessings and he hugged me as he said bye. I finally headed towards aunty and bent down but stopped me, "badho ka dil pau cho kar nahi, dil cho kar kiya jata hai, aur woh toh tumne phele nazar mein kiya, kush raho beti, phir se aana thik hai," she said hugging me close. I nodded my head and my parents signaled to me that we needed to leave. I looked over at my parents asleep and looked at the picture I took of the two of us on my phone and my eyes filled up knowing I wouldn't see him for months now, I didn't even get to say bye to him properly, the feeling finally struck me hard and I stopped overthinking and finally said what my heart was trying to tell me the entire trip, "I love you Virat, I really love you," I whispered hugging my phone.

Manvi: Mummy

Aur yeh sone ki locket aur rudraksha," she said holding up everything. Manvi you should understand papa's situation and look at the price of things before just spending so much money. Shaadi karne wali thi kya, itni expensive saree, aur ghene," she said looking back at them. I was just rooted in the same spot she had been in for the past five minutes mummy was complaining.

Manvi: "Woh mummy." I was in a fix, how I was supposed to tell her Virat bought all of this for me. I hadn't even got a chance to confess my feelings to him and tell him it is ok to talk to uncle and aunty about me. I finally realized why he was being so persistent to tell, he wanted to protect me and himself from this unnecessary drama, he knew this was comming. I wish I wasn't so nave with all these feelings and just trusted my heart from the beginning. My eyes filled up, I couldn't mention his name, I couldn't drag him into this and listen to mummy complain about him, I wouldn't be able to sit and listen to a word against him. I wiped my forming tears and mumbled "sorry" as I locked myself in the bathroom crying as I hugged the picture that I had with him.
