Arnav's telephone convo is cryptic but seems quite dismissive of Khushi: "Routine work. Following a bar dancer." Now that the DIB has confirmed Arnav's innocence we can all heave a sigh of relief! The professional respect shown by both Inspector Khan and Arnav and their professional discussion about the murders has been quite realistically portrayed. So is Shyam an abusive husband or has Khushi being forced to continue with a role she dreads? Her fear of Shyam is very stark and palpable. From Arnav's convo with his handler, really seems that Shyam is the spy / traitor. Khushi's desperate search for help ending in disappointment is heart-breaking: After ages she had felt there was someone whom she could trust even a little bit. Someone who seemed capable of helping her with the predicament she was in and if not that at-least of advising her, guiding her... imagine how great her sense of betrayal will be when she realises that the person who she thought would help her out is instrumental in tightening the noose around her neck! Another voice inside her that was seeped in cold hopelessness told her that her hope was like the last flicker of a candle's flame before it dies out completely... her foreboding sadly comes true... beautiful yet heart-rending imagery. Even if Shyam recovers from his injuries, I doubt if he would confess to his crimes or admit that Khushi is innocent of acts of treason... he might actually implicate her further in his dealings! I remember what you said about his cruel eyes. It must have been so shattering for Khushi to realise that not only Shyam but also Arnav used her for their own benefit and, in Arnav's case, the one person she hoped would prove to be her saviour turns out to be her destroyer! I can't fault Arnav's contempt for her, though, as he believes her to be a traitor and no patriot is going to love a traitor... [am a fan of NCIS: LA, which has a lot of such spy themes and undercover work wherein the characters have to do things that often go against their own values... so I understand Arnav's motivation]. She was a means to get to his target... when it come to a question of national security, the intelligence officers have to make use of any means necessary, though we might shudder at it. "Why, Arnav?, she cried suddenly, catching hold of his coat lapels with both hands and unsuccessfully trying to shake him. Arnav shot a quick glance at the door, where the men were waiting and pried her fingers away from his coat in a forceful movement. "I don't have to answer any of your questions, Arnav said coldly at the same time... shades of the forced marriage track! 'And I won't leave till I get an answer from you. What right did you have to use me, my body like this?' she repeated weakly with the pupils of her eyes dilated with pain and bewilderment. As she was being taken outside the door, he was struck by the air of absolute stillness and silence that encompassed her... I felt a sharp pang on reading these lines... would be interesting to note his reaction when he finally learns of her innocence. He cuttingly calling her a s**t was uncalled for!
