Thanks for your enthusiastic response to this story and for all your encouragement. Really appreciate it :))

I'm answering some of the commonly asked questions here and others will be answered soon...

Q: What's the setting of this story?

It's set in an imaginary country, which is a lot like India. SIS is the Intelligence Organization of this imaginary country. Kind of like CIA, RAW or MI6

Q: What does Shyam do? He is an SIS agent, part of it's counterintelligence branch.

Counterintelligence is the branch of an intelligence service charged with keeping sensitive information from an enemy, preventing it from reaching to them, deceiving that enemy, preventing subversion and sabotage among several other things.

"Why, Arnav?, she cried clutching his lapels with both hands and ineffectually trying to shake him.

"I don't have to answer any of your questions, Arnav said coldly, forcefully prying her fingers away from his coat.

'Why ?, she repeated weakly with her eyes bewildered.

"Why should it even matter to cheap s**ts like you? ", he added deliberately, before turning his back and walking away from her.

When he reached the end of the corridor, something made him pause and glance back over his shoulder.

She was standing exactly as he had left her and he was struck by the air of absolute stillness and silence that encompassed her.

His gaze faltered for just a second before his mouth hardened and he turned his back to her again...
