A big thanks to each and everyone for having liked this story of mine😳,
Chapter 2
Things hadn't been that bad, Sakshi thought. She was presently lying in her room, after having had diner and a long chat with Sam's mother. She was relieved that Sam's mother had liked her at first sight. She now realized that she had been worrying herself for no reason.
"For no reason!" her heart repeated, "Oh come on admit you were terrified when he was walking down the stairs while staring so coldly at you!"
"Ok, maybe he didn't like me, but why?? Even i don't have the answer to this, maybe he just hates me..." she murmured to herself. Still she could feel her body shivering when he had come down and stared straight in her eyes. She had turned to Sam for support, but Sam was chatting with his mother.
A few hours earlier
Sakshi had understood the hidden dig being made at herself, when that young man said that she kind of looked lost here. Still she had stood her ground, and refused to bow in fear in front of him. She hadn't done anything wrong, so she wouldn't cower at all. So she met his gaze directly, without even for one second lowering her eyes. But as he came nearer, something in his gaze was doing strange things to her. She felt her whole body tremble, and she pacified herself by saying that it was only fear.
When he was standing barely one meter from her, she couldn't hold anymore his stare. It was too intense and somehow the coldness in them was affecting her also. She had turned towards Sam at that instant, as if needing his support, for what reason she didn't know. But she just felt like going behind Sam and hiding.
"Oh come on Sakshi, you and afraid??" she said mentally to herself.
She raised her head, and saw Sam and that young man hugging and smiling at each other. She was surprised, because his face no longer held any anger or any such thing. He was talking happily with Sam, and after some time, he finally turned to look at Sam and asked again, "Sam, bad manners! No one leaves such a beautiful lady unattended, and you haven't even introduced her to us!"
Hearing herself be called beautiful did something to her, and she couldn't stop herself from blushing under the stare of that man. Why was she even blushing? She never thought of herself beautiful? She was ok, she guessed... But beautiful, nope that she wasn't, she thought to herself.
But why was he calling her beautiful then? And oh god why was she even blushing? But worst of all, how come Sam never ever said that she was beautiful... Maybe that was the reason she was blushing her brain said.
Sam left that man's side and came to stand next to Sakshi. Sam lifted Sakshi's hand in his, and Sakshi noticed that the other man looked angry for one second at this gesture, "Sakshi this is my Mama and this young man is my smaller brother, Arjun."
And then turning to face Arjun and his mother, Sam said in a determined and no-nonsense voice, "This is Sakshi, my future wife, your future daughter-in-law and your future bhabhi."
Sakshi looked at Sam's mother and Arjun's reaction. She could see that Arjun didn't like this idea at all, but thankfully Sam's mother didn't look too much against this.
Arjun opened up his mouth to say something, but one glare from Sam, he decided to stay quiet. But even Arjun looked determined in something. Sakshi felt she was going to be crushed between these two brothers, but hopefully she trusted Sam to always be there with her.
After that everything went on smoothly, Sam said he was hungry and they hadn't had any lunch till now. Before any lunch, Mrs Rathore took Sakshi to the guest room and asked her to refresh herself. After a few minutes, Sakshi went down and finally had her lunch. However she failed to eat as much as she should have. Throughout the lunch, she could feel Arjun's eyes on her, and she was a bit worried and hence her appetite was almost gone.
Following that, they all went to the living room, and all chatted till night. They were catching up on lost time it seems. Despite being an outsider, Mrs Rathore did her best to include Sakshi in all their conversations. Sakshi was happy and finally she felt that this family could belong to her, well except Arjun, who still seemed to have something against her.
Diner also passed off very quietly, and finally it was time to retire to her room. She wished everyone a good night and went off to her room.
Sakshi was lying in her bed, and happy. She had left everyone because she had been feeling sleepy. She hadn't slept at all last night, in fear of Sam's family. But today all was well. She twisted and turned, but somehow she still couldn't sleep. She decided why not have a hot milk, this would help her in sleeping. However since she wasn't at home, she didn't know what to do. Should she go out and help herself in the kitchen or not? What if they don't like her intrusion in their kitchen. However after some more time of twisting and turning, and being unable to sleep, she decided to take the risk. She pulled a robe over her pyjamas, and went out. She was going down the stairs, when she heard some loud voices from the living room.
It seemed that some people were fighting. She walked closer to the living room, but since the door was closed, she couldn't understand much. She knew it was bad manners listening to other people's conversations, but still some curiosity inside of her made her open the door softly.
And since an argument was going inside, no one even heard the small tweak sound which accompanied the door opening. But like they said, listeners never head good things about them...
"She's an orphan for god's sake. Kya pata who her family is?" Arjun was saying, "and you know how such people are?! She must have trapped you with her innocent eyes and face! These people are always on the lookout for an easy catch, don't you know!"
Sakshi waited for Sam to defend her, but nothing came from his side. And then she heard Arjun continuing, "Mama, come on try to reason him. He's going to marry a nobody!"
Sakshi's heart broke when she heard herself being talked like this. And worst of all no one was defending her. Even Mrs Rathore was taking Arjun's side, "Yes Sam, there's no hurry. You'd get even better and more cultured girl than her! She isnt worth you, well she isnt that bad but still, and what's even more evident, you don't even love her! How will you live with her without any love?"
Sakshi's eyes started to fill up, she couldn't believe it. They were all against her, even Mrs Rathore was against her, and Sam wasn't saying anything. Not having the courage to listen more insults, she ran back to her room, no longer even wanting anything. She doubted she'd even sleep tonight. As soon as she reached her room, she threw herself on the bed, and started to cry.
She had been living in a fool's paradise. And Sam's family was right. She wasn't worth Sam, and she already knew that Sam didnt love her, but not that type or romantic and marriage type love. She decided right there, that she wasn't going to marry Sam. She wouldn't be able to live with Sam, when she knows that none of his family even liked her. Taking this decision, she felt lighter, but still the tears didn't stop. Their words had hurt her a lot, even if it was only the truth.
She barely slept that night, and when sleep did claim her, it was in the early hours of morning. However even in there, she had nightmares of Arjun's insults and being all alone. She awoke up with a startle, and checking her watch, she could see it was 7 o'clock in the morning. She got up from bed, and went to have her shower.
After half an hour, she was ready to go out and face the world. She was dressed in a simple pink salwar. Since she wasn't either in a mood to do any make-up, she also didn't check her face at all, didn't realise that all the sobbing of last night had left marks on her face. She opened her door, and had barely started to walk in the corridor, when the last person she even wanted to hear, shouted her name.
Please excuse me for any spelling mistakes, and yep a kind reminder😈, next update will be sent through PMs to only those who commented on this story of mine😛😉
