Firstly Vats, I must congratulate you on your new thread, so we're down to one chapter per thread now, that's some achievement, I don't think many writers on IF can boast of that one.. 😃
Secondly, I want to applaud you for your story telling skills... 👏 You're a natural story teller who knows how to keep the readers glued to the story every step of the way... Even when you're describing the most mundane things, it is the way you put them across is what makes the simplest of tasks the most enjoyable & entertaining and in this case downright hilarious... Your attention to detail is simply mind blowing, so take a bow girl you deserve it... 👏 👏
And this chapter is testimony to the above fact... 👍🏼
The way you described the wedding preparations, with Buaji handling almost the whole wedding, from both the bride's side & the groom's side almost single-handedly is absolutely amazing... It was indeed a labor of love on her part to pull off a full-scale wedding in just two days, is no mean feat by any yardstick... So Kudos to her... 👏
Kudos to you for highlighting significant details about their haldi, mehendi & non-existent sangeet, it was absolutely fantastic... Absolutely loved the way you threw in among all that Arnav's tantrums / distaste for the wedding rituals, his refusal to wear the sherwani & subsequent threats & lectures to make him comply with tradition was just brilliant... Even his mutterings about going in for a court wedding instead... Just hilarious... 😆
Loved the way you touched upon Titaliya's insistence on using the same wedding trousseau as before was a perfect addition to this perfect wedding... Really, why waste perfectly good clothes & jewelry?? Khushi's nakhras about mehendi being done up to her eye-balls & the color of which incidentally coming out very dark amply thrilled the superstitious buaji no end was a minor detail with huge implications... Loved it thoroughly...
The plight of the firangi dulha sitting in front of a blazing fire, squirming & sweating bullets, on account of the heat & prickliness of the sherwani itself was both so hilarious & accurate at the same time... Karan chachu is such a riot, pulling his Laddoo's leg no end on account of her firangi dulha... LOL The sight described with Khuhsi fanning her dulha with both hands & then glaring at her chachu for sniggering at her Arnavji's plight was a sight to behold... Loved the way you portrayed the scene, through Sumer's eyes, who in turn became our eyes... I could literally see this scene being enacted in front of my eyes for real... 😆
Loved the way Sumer watched the wedding proceedings & marveled at what fate had in store for him... His wish to make his Laddoo his daughter was finally getting materialized albeit not through adoption but through marriage with his own son... It was just perfection. Loved the following lines especially...
"But now he understood why his this covert wish never materialized. Because something else was planned by God for them.
He was meant to be just her care-taker, he smiled. She was eventually written in his Arnav's destiny."
Arnav was too cute all the way through, his awkwardness & downright abhorrence of all the wedding rituals was hilarious to say the least... Loved how he reacted at the games after the wedding & bolted from the scene to change as soon as all the rasams were over... Him finally emerging all showered & comfy in his own clothes was actually quite soothing & relaxing for us too... I too had begun to squirm for him... LOL (That's just how good a writer you are.)
His soliloquy at night was actually quite funny... I agree with him, no one thought of Khushi's virtue until she actually got married to Arnav... This line put a silly smile on my face...
"he had no doubts that he will comfortably survive the night without his new bride. But who would go and tell this to buaji, his eyes danced in mirth." - Exactly, who had the nerve to mess with buaji but really, aren't those going to be famous last words for Arnav?? 😉 Does he really think that he will be immune to his wife's charms as he thinks he is going to be?? Hmmm, we'll see. 😉
The following line was huge in terms of Arnav's feeling at having finally gotten married to his girl...
"Too tired and content to the bottom of his heart, he drifted into a peaceful slumber with a relieved smile on his face."
I don't think even he knows how much badly he had wanted to marry Khushi... Losing her was not an option for him really... I wonder if he has thought about how he will actually keep Khushi happy with him now that he has made her his??? So waiting to see that realization dawn on him, she is not one of his acquisitions in business, hope he has the sense to realize that...
He was so happy & content that even the next morning, seemed extra special to him...
"The morning held a different allure to it for him when he opened his eyes. A crispiness that only a light heart could add to it. It was a bit more bright and tad bit fresher than usual" - Loved this line, it spoke volumes about his state of mind.
Oh the whole rasoi rasam was downright hilarious... If Arnav was the laughing stock during the whole wedding itself, then Khushi's culinary skills or lack thereof were the fodder for many a laughs post-wedding... What was even more funny was that here also, poor Arnav was not spared... He had the dubious honor of being the first one to taste the erstwhile "halwa" his wife was so enthusiastically preparing for him... ROFL
These lines absolutely cracked me up...
"Khushi was cooking some gooey pasty thing in a pan with gusto. Well, fighting the pan with a ladle in the hand would be more apt description - ROFL 😆
As far as he knew, her culinary excellence was a common knowledge. - Exactly, so why were they insisting on HER preparing something?!?!? 😛
So when they should be stopping her, banning her from the kitchen, why are they are cheering for her, encouraging her? 😆 - My thoughts exactly 😉
At least he still had plans for life. Death by Khushi was not how he had envisioned his future. - ROFL 😆
Khushi's never say die attitude in this case is injurious to everyone's health. Hunger immediately left the helpless new husband.😆
Can we please eat leftovers from last night, he badly wanted to suggest." 🤣
-- Poor guy he was really desperate, he is indeed scared of his bride's cooking capabilities, thank God for buaji & cooks at RM, he will never have to endure that horrific cooking
Now Arnav is a goner is a well known fact, but the way he had succumbed to Khushi's charms can be exemplified by this next line...
Specially a set of huge emerald OVER-excited ones, along with that damned smile.
- Aww Arnavji, aap toh gayye purey kaam se...
Sitting idly on the dining table sipping his coffee, he mused what his tombstone would say. He tried, but finally had to eat the halwa cooked by his bride? 🤣
I am not going to commiserate with Arnav at all about his darned fate. He has brought this all upon himself. Ab bhugto. Heeeheee. Propose karne se pehle sochna chahiye tha na, ab pachhtaane se kya hoga??? 😉
P.S. I loved the birthday celebration, especially the way Arnav held her hand & brought her to cut the cake, but seriously, did he really not gift her anything?? Engagement ring or mangalsutra se hi kaam chala liya?? 😕
