Hey hi H, finally started reading Labyrinth. Have been waiting to read this FF since long but knew that once I start reading any of your stories I need enough time to grasp it all and let it sink in, so as to feel the impact of your writing and all the hidden meanings. Had just read the initial write-up and your note at the start some time back and decided to read it when I have time at hand. Finally I started reading and saw there were 20 parts already. Deciding to comment after reading 5 parts, I just went with the flow, and realised that I couldn't stop and read 10 parts in a go. I'm stuck in this labyrinth created by you, hence had to stop myself and recollect all that is revealed and comment or else all would be lost in a big jumble in my head by the time would reach the 20th part. Because I would be so spellbound and speechless (as always) that the only praise forthcoming would've been awesome and beautifully woven web of words spun through silky situations with such precision that its floating in my conscious thoughts.
I haven't read the Mahabharata... And know tidbits of this epic only through friends and some books. And as they say about half knowledge... or ignorance being bliss I was somewhere apprehensive about reading this FF as I wouldn't have got some much known facts. Yet your writing as always has been excellent that I don't need to fall back on anything else as there have been quite clear either in updates or else in some comments that I read.
Coming to the first 10 parts ... I had to actually hold myself still in the labyrinth to picture the maze. I liked the contrast that you've used in the chapters throughout there is an edge to your story telling that I'm a big fan of, taking me with the flow. The characters are grey indeed with a tinge of colour to each. I loved the colouring & something very silly came to me that if she is the blue and he is the green then who is the yellow that leads blue to green... Shyama's mystic blue like the sky/water that engulfs all the secrets and seeks a light in the darkness to be the sole focus; Arjun's green which she associates to deception in view of her own secrets and desires... Forgetting to see it even stands for freshness that he has brought with him in contrast to the radiance she used to seek of Vishwa who knows all her secrets and nothing was left to discover or else unknown of her.
Also liked the thought process shown of two faced thinking... her day starts with her ire about the current status of women in today's world and that she feels nothing has changed , yet as the day moves ahead it was shown subtly that how she too is a part of the same age old thinking. I may be wrong but then wasn't she too being a woman supporting the earlier notion of men being the controller? She wanted Arjun to take the lead when he was escorting her home and was also somewhere worried about the finances later in life where she goes with the thought the man has to be the bread winner, while in contrast to this was how old notion of choosing a groom was done by the girl is reversal to the loss of choice seen nowadays.
From the author's desk : Welcome to thread 6! I started to write this story years ago when the show was live and now when I look back on what...
