"BABA!YOU WON"T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED!!!"Astha exclaimed with happiness as she ran into her parent's bedroom.

"Baba I got the job in the Laurel's event management company!You know,the company I always wanted to work in!"Astha exclaimed out happily..

"And do you know what they said..?They said.."Astha prattled on to her father..

A silent Kalindi watched her daughter's antique from the doorway..She wiped at the tears falling from her eyes..Nothing had ever been the same since that night..

Her daughter had not been the same..This family had not been the same..Everything had changed after that long dark fateful stormy night..

But Kalindi Kirloskar,had to fight it out for her only daughter Astha..For her she had to stay strong..

Letting out a long sigh,Kalindi turned and left to do her chores..Astha had to face the truth herself..One day soon,she will understand..Her daughter had to understand..

"What is this?!"Shlok snapped out,throwing the file at a harassed looking man..

"Sir..This..this.."The man stammered,wiping his profusely sweating face with a handkerchief,as he looked down,avoiding Shlok's piercing gaze.

"Count from hundred to one,in reverse!"Shlok snapped out.

"Sir?!"The man looked up at Shlok in astonishment.

"Start counting..Before I count till three."Shlok's voice was chilled,just like the atmosphere in the large office room."One..Two..-"

"100,99,98,97.."The man started stammering..

Shlok relaxed back on his chair,and started checking his mails on the desk top computer,as the man droned on..

"50,48-"

"What did you just say?!"Shlok snapped out.

"Sss..Sorry sir.."The man gulped down a knot of fear.

"Start from the beginning again..From hundred.."Shlok ordered.

"100,99,..."

A female giggling sound interrupted Shlok's thoughts.He turned his head,and looked at the newly appointed secretary,who had just entered his office room..He looked her over,from the bottom of her pink stiletto hills to her skinny body clad in extra short mini skirt and white skimpy top..As he reached her face,he found she was flattering her abnormally long lashes at him.

"The air conditioners are not working?"He asked her in a soft voice.."Is it too hot here?"

"No sir..Why?"She said in a breathless voice,fluttering her lashes some more.

"Then why the hell are you in the office half naked?!What do you think this is?!The audition for next Miss Skimpy Stupid?!!"He snapped out in a loud voice,that rang in the room and startled both the man and the girl.

"Mr. Srivastav!Get this girl out of my sight,and I'll forgive the hundred mistakes you made in this file.And you have time till four pm to correct the mistakes too,if you can ensure I never have to see such girls again!"

"Sir.."

"I said NOW!"

"Yes..Yes sir!"The man stammered,and called the scared looking girl."Come on!"

"Sir..I'm sorry..Please.."The girl sobbed out,her tears already ruining her heavy make up.

"Shlok Agnihotri does not have the words PLEASE and SORRY in his dictionary..And no second chances..You broke the office dress code..On your first day here..First mistake..You entered my office without knocking..Second mistake..You tried to flirt with me,Shlok Agnihotri,third and final mistake.."Shlok said softly with a lethal look at the pitifully weeping girl.With that final sentence Shlok strode out of his office..

The entire office was quiet as he strode out purposefully..The man was a living time bomb,ready to explode on anyone who was stupid or clumsy enough to make a mistake..Agnihotri Institutions ran like a smoothly oiled machine..No one dared to make mistake..And whoever did was never spared by Shlok Agnihotri.Only the best would always do..Only the perfect ones would stay..After all the salary of the Agnihotri Institution's staffs was irresistible..

Finally on Monday,Astha's big day arrived..

"Thank you Bappa!Help me be the best!"Astha whispered to herself,praying to God,as she stood at the door of her new boss's office.She touched her throat for her locket,when she remembered she had lost it..

"Come on Astha!This is the time to be happy and strong!Go on!"She encouraged herself.Gathering courage she raised her hand to knock.

KNOCK KNOCK!

"Come in!"A male voice called out.

With her heart racing she pushed at the door..It was not opening..She tried it again..

"Oh Bappa!Did this have to happen today?!Uff this door!"She tried the lock again,but the door was not budging an inch..This time she gave it a hard shove and was shocked as the door opened from the inside,and she ran into a hard warm wall.As she could not stop her motion,she ended up losing her balance,and pushed the wall along with her onto the floor..Astha sprawled on top of the wall,which was not a wall..She was actually lying on top of a man in black suit,she realized,just before closing her eyes in embarrassment..

"Oh no!Not again!Did I just fall on top of someone?!"She whispered in an embarrassed voice..
