CHAPTER-5.

"Did I really fall on someone-"

"Yes you just did.."Replied a deep but husky,irritated male voice,from below her.

"Oh no!I hope I did not hurt this person too!"She thought aloud,with her eyes still closed.

"Not sure yet.."Came the clipped reply.

"Oh dear!Is this person my boss?!Did I just bump into and fall on top of my brand new boss?!"Astha had not opened her eyes yet.

"I'm sorry to tell you this..But it's hard to decide something like that and know the truth and identity of the person you fell on top of,when you are actually lying on top of that person,with eyes closed tight shut,isn't it?!"Came the sarcastic reply.

"How can he hear my thoughts?!"Astha murmured in amazement,scared to open her eyes.

"I don't think I've to be a superhero like spiderman to hear that..Especially since you are thinking aloud..And also,if I get your permission to do it,should I ask someone to bring in pillows for you,to lie on the ground the entire day,and think aloud with your eyes closed? Wouldn't it be more comfortable for you to lie on pillows,than on me?"

That made Astha snap her eyes wide open..

Who is this rude guy?!She really had to see for herself..

She raised her head to look better,and slowly her eyes moved up the buttoned up crisp black shirt,the ash tie,the unshaved strong jaw line,the full male lips..She could not look further,as she was suddenly pushed by the man.

"I can't lie like this the whole day!"The man declared impatiently,and pushed Astha up,as he got up himself too.

The man was brushing himself clean,and Astha,with her eyes downcast fixed her dupatta,and bag,still embarrassed by the fall.She decided to take a quick peek,at the man's face,while he was busy fixing his already perfect suit.

She had just started peeping through the corner of her eye,when the door suddenly opened,startling her.Astha looked away instantly,embarrassed and scared at the possibility of being caught peeping by the man.

A young man had entered the office with a file in his hand.

"Sir.Here is the file you were looking for I think."The man said to the guy Astha had fallen on.

"Thank you."Came the husky reply.

Just like he had entered,the new man got out of the office room,clicking the door shut behind him.

An uncomfortable silence followed the man's departure,as Astha stood with her back turned to the man.Clearly still embarrassed to turn and face him,or even not sure what to say to him.

Who could he be?!My boss?!Astha thought to herself.

She had just gained the courage to turn and face him,when the door clicked open again,and startled her all over again.

"I am really sorry Shlok!So sorry I had to keep you waiting for such a long time!"Declared another male voice jovially.

Shlok?!Who is this guy really?!Astha thought in puzzlement,as she turned to see the newcomer,who turned out to be a man of at least 60,who was bearded,and rounded,and was almost Santa Claus look alike.Astha's lips twitched in amusement,as she imagined the jovial friendly man in Santa Claus attire..

Ho ho ho!Merry Christmas!That sentence would not surprise her at all at that moment.Although the man's beard was not complete white but grey.

But her smile vanished when the Santa Claus alike man did speak again,and it was not Christams wish,and nor did she hear Jingle bells song playing on the background..

"So Mr. Shlok Agnihotri!How did you remember this old man?!"

Astha whirled around in complete shock,and her eyes rounded in astonishment as she saw the so called Shlok Agnihotri standing in flesh and blood standing right in front of her.

Shlok barely heard his old friend talking.He was busy looking up the girl who had fallen on top of him.

Something was very familiar about her.But he just could not place his finger on it.What was it about her that seemed so familiar to him..And he had not even seen her face.He was lost wondering.

Suddenly he noticed her whirl around,and instantly felt he had been hit a good strong kick at his stomach.

IT'S HER!!!The rain girl!!!He thought to himself in amazement.

But was it really her?!Or am I hallucinating and my mal-functioning brain is super imposing her image on every girl I meet?!This is crazy!This can't be her again!He could not stop the wild thoughts pass through his gone hay wire brain.

The girl had a shocked look on her face too.But as her eyes took his look in,the shock was strangely replaced by irritation,then something akin to disgust.

Does she remember me with those mud on my face?!Or is some mud still stuck to my face..?!He could not help thinking,as he noticed her expressions.Her look of disgust did not change,and she was actually sending strong vibes of dislike towards him.

Out of his own accord,Shlok's hand rubbed his cheek,as if to clean absent smudges.He was not aware of his act,until the girl looked away with a last scathing look at him.

Oh okay,I get it.She must be wondering what a DIRTY beggar is doing in an office room..Shlok concluded,completely baffled by her strange behaviour.

Mr. Sachin Parekh looked at the two young people exchanging looks.He had just noticed the girl,when he caught Shlok staring at her bemusedly.A knowing smile played at his lips,when he saw the girl look away in disgust.Snd that was also the same time he remembered the new assistant's joining today.

"Hello dear!You must be my new young assistant!Miss Astha Kirloskar!"Sachin smiled warmly at Astha.

Astha could not help but smile back at her new boss.Relieved beyond measure,that the jovial friendly man was her boss.

What a relief!For once I was scared that Shlok Agnihotri will be my boss!Astha thought to herself,completely avoiding Shlok's piercing gaze at her,which was nearly burning a hole into her skin..

What a pity!She should have been my assistant..I would surely have loved her to assist me..Thought Shlok,unable to move his eyes away from her perfect flawless profile..Clearly intrigued by her illogical aversion to him..

Oh dear! What intriguing lines to end the chapter! Attracted to her illogical aversion 😉

Read all the chapters and I enjoyed them all! But I have to say, this last chapter was really exceptionally good!..I mean Shlok's witty lines when Astha was on top of him were hilarious! He asked her if he should bring her pillows! AHAH 🤣

Astha dislikes him - hmm, there's prolly a history to that. I think its either something serious related to her dad or a rejected marriage proposal type thing 🤔

See, your FF has already gotten me thinking!
