Jenny,
Sorry for the late comment and not commenting on previous chapter.
First, I would like to commend you for writing such a challenging story. I will be honest as a reader I struggled with initial chapters to wrap my head around the story as well as connect with it. Because of the era in which it's written, the traditions, beliefs and rituals back them some of them so shallow and cruel. The way girls and women were treated it's hard. Yet, as the story progressed I settled it. If this is what I felt as a reader, as a writer I can't imagine how tough it must be to travel back in time, identify the characters, connect with them, think like them and then write. KUDOS JENNY!
You know ever since Khushi lost her family I think her sole hope and reason for living is Arnab. No matter what she wants to impress him and be liked by him and knowingly or unknowingly looks up to him to protect her. Even when Arnab behaved as if she didn't exist she ran to him when her doll was taken away and gave away the same doll to grow up. The little moments she spends with Arnab and simple gestures by Arnab are what giving her zeal in her life.
Arnab on the other had come along too. From ignoring Khushi, to getting angry at her to, thinking of only protecting her, to liking her. Earlier when he thought of getting away from his father's shadows and making a new life in a new place he was alone in those thoughts. But now Khushi is included in those thoughts and not only that, she's become a criterion in his decision making.
The first waves of desire are sprouting between these two. Wonder how Arnab is going to handle it and how long can keep tabs on it.
PS: Jenny, I would love to get little insight into Khushi and Arnab's clothes. It will probably add to the feel of the story given its set in 1920s.

Jenny...I'm still in awe of the way you're writing this story. You have obviously read so much of that period, and know so much about the lifestyle, people there, that whatever you write, I want to believe. I know there are things in the story which are not exactly applicable or even accepted in the present day, but considering the time period the story is set in coupled with your beautiful writing, it makes total sense and a very pleasant read.
This chapter was lovely. Loved how how you gave a little about Khushi's sister. I feel for her poor soul. She married so young. Died so young. Barely got to see her childhood.I feel a little bad for Pranab too. He's falling for Khushi and doesn't even know it. And it's heartbreaking to even think of his poor wife... who obviously is still quite young to understand anything. I just hope things go smoothly for them.Khushi lives for Arnav, I've realized. Her everything starts and ends at Arnav. She wants to do everything for him. And it's very important for her to get his approval. Loved how she made him a handkerchief with an 'A' written on it, and the way Arnavr received it was ever more cute. The kiss was so lovely and sweet! And I loved how you stopped it at the kiss. It's just not the time to take it to the next level now. She's so still so young.. so much time it took for her to realize her giddy feelings. Very, very sweet scene.I'm pleasantly surprised to learn that Arnav is taking Khushi with him 😊
