A little while later, she sat at her father's feet with him patting her hair softly in the dark..

She looked up at him and laid her head in his lap, "I'm sorry Baba.. I shouldn't have reacted like that.."

Gupte smiled at her and patted her hair, "I know.. I should've made myself clear, beta.."

Ro shook her head but he cupped her face and made her look at him,

"I know you're very brave.. Kaise nahi hogi, meri sherni beti ho na?"

She opened her mouth to speak but he silenced her,

"Jaanta hoon you want to break a few bones but that'll have to wait.."

She frowned and looked away hearing him tease her.. Gupte laughed at her plight,

"Jo action scenes karne hain na, apne pati ke ghar jaakar karna.."

Rosy glared at him for a moment and then blew her curls, "Oh please Baba.. Not again.."

Gupte held her palm softly and made her face him,

"Meri baat suno.. I don't want you to land yourself in danger, Ro.."

He saw her protest and silenced her, "I know, I'm being unreasonable.. Being a cop myself, I shouldn't be saying this.. But I cannot bear the thought of anything happening to you, you understand that right? Not while I am around.."

She blinked her eyes and nodded, "Lekin Baba, police ke job mein toh yeh sab normal hota hai na.. I can take care of myself.."

He shook his head at his stubborn daughter,

"I know you can, but kya hai na, tum toh waise bhi musibat ka pitara ho.. And so, I want to give your hand in marriage to someone who can stand all your tantrums and more so, protect you for the rest of your life.. Uske baad tumhe jo karna hai kar lena.. Main nahi rokunga.."

Ro rolled her eyes dramatically, "God! You're talking like one of those Bollywood films ke fathers, Baba.. Beti ko vida kar doon and so on.. Waise bhi, I can protect myself and if not, toh aap ho na.."

Gupte smiled and tapped her head, "Haan jaanta hoon.. But I won't be around forever na?"

She glared at him and looked away..

He held her shoulder and made her look at him, "Okay.. I'm sorry but I'm growing old, right? So I need someone to take care of you, to love you more than I do..

Aur phir saari zindagi tumhe apne saath rakhoon? Baap re, itni himmat nahi hai mujh mein.."

Ro knitted her brows, "Oh please.. I don't need anyone and besides you won't find a single guy who would love me as much as you do.. You're a hero, Dad aur superheros unique hote hain.."

Gupte chuckled and slid to the floor beside her,

"No.. That's where you're wrong.. Tumhari life mein bhi ek superhero aayega, bacche.. Waise sach sach batana, don't you ever dream of a prince charming?"

He paused when she raised a brow, "No.. I mean, tumne bhi toh socha hoga na, ki tumhara life partner aisa hoga, usmein kaun kaun si khoobiyaan hongi.."

She sighed dramatically, "Please Baba.. I have better things in life to do.. Aur waise bhi I don't believe in prince charmings.. They don't exist.. Aur shaadi life time ka commitment hoti hai.. I don't..."

He stopped her from talking further and waved his hand, "No.. Tum kar sakti ho.. Aur tum karogi.."

She lowered her eyes and looked away, "Baba, woh main.."

Gupte turned her around to face him,

"Yes you will, Ro.. Every relationship needn't have a tragic ending, right? Whatever happened between me and your mom was our destiny and we were to be blamed for it.. Maybe we were weak and couldn't hold on to our relationship.. Lekin har rishte ki manzil alag hoti hai, beta..

Who knows, shayad tumhari kismat mein aisa hi ek rishta ho.. Ek aisa life partner ho jo aakhri waqt tak tumhara saath dega, jo kabhi tumhara haath nahi chodega.. Don't shut it out, Ro.."

She looked up and a trail of tears ran down her cheeks..

Gupte patted her hair and hugged her,

"Shh.. Kissine dekh liya toh kya sochenge, mera sher wala baccha ro raha hai.. Tumhari reputation toh mitti mein mil jayegi.."

Rosy chuckled and moved back wiping her damp face,

"Stop it Baba.. I'm not a 2-year old.." She looked at him and winked, "Waise bhi be prepared for a new member in the house, kyunki main aapko chodkar kahin nahi jaanewali.. Toh usse hi ghar jamaai bana lenge.. Kya khayal hai?"

Gupte rubbed his temples, "Tumhara kuch nahi ho sakta.. I pity the poor fellow already.."

She laughed aloud unaware of a pair of eyes twinkling with an unexplained happiness watching her laugh reach her eyes..

An hour later, they were back on the rooftop gazing at the night sky, trying to beat each other at identifying stars..

She screamed into his ear, "I found it and there you lose again, ACP.."

Arjun glared at her and crossed his arms when she pointed towards the sky..

"That's Sirius and there is your Canis Major.. Tch. Tch.. And they say you have really sharp eyes.."

He frowned and then looked away, "Fine.. Dekh loonga tumhe.."

Ro chuckled and held his arm when he turned to walk away, "Oho.. Spoil sport.. Ruko na.."

Arjun spun around slowly and slid to the floor beside her.. The cool breeze made her wild curls fly lightly and he looked at her with a smile playing on his lips..

Suddenly reminded of something, he turned to her and tapped her shoulder,

"So, you don't think prince charmings exist?"

She looked at him and shrugged her shoulders, "Nope.. Come on, imagine ghode pe baithke koi aa raha hai.. How stupid is that? Aur phir aaj kal toh no one even knows how to ride a horse.."

Arjun glared at her and shook his head at her lame excuse of a joke..

She sensed it and decided to do something she'd been planning for quite a few weeks now..

She turned to him and raised a brow, "Meri chodo.. You tell me, tumhe kaisi life partner chahiye?"

He looked at her and she winked, "Of course tumne kuch toh socha hoga hi na?"

He smiled and rested his elbow on her shoulder, "Errm.. Haan socha hai na.. Mujhe ek sweet si, innocent, homely ladki chahiye.. Someone who can take care of my house, me and pamper me..

Jo meri kahi hui har baat maane.. Well, she can present her opinions sometimes..

She should be an excellent cook, of course aur usse action hero se zyada romantic hero pasand ho.. Bass.. ek seedhi saadhi biwi.."

If only Arjun had looked at her while he narrated his list of wishes, he would've seen her glaring at him furiously with a hint of disappointment on her face..

He looked up startled when she stood up abruptly and began to walk away..

Arjun chuckled, "Kya hua? Arre aage aur bhi hai.."

Rosy looked at him over her shoulder, "Nahi.. Itni sweetness mujhse hazam nahi hoti.. Main sone chali.."

Arjun rolled his tongue in his cheek and pretended to be confused, "Oh.. Okay.. Goodnight.. Oh wait.. Please ek cup chai bana do.."

She pressed her lips together and faked a smile, "Apni sweet si honewali biwi ka intezaar kar lo.. Wahi bana degi.."

He chuckled when she sprinted down the stairs and looked up at the starry night thanking his stars for having made him fall in love with her..

She wasn't perfect but then neither was he..

He smacked himself, "But she's the one, you fool.."

A few minutes later, he walked out of the shower with a towel hanging around his neck and was surprised to find a mug of steaming hot tea on his study desk..

He picked it up and peeped out to watch her shut out the lights in her room..

Arjun smiled to himself and settled on the chair with a smile on his lips..

She was indeed the one..

He sat upright in bed panting and catching his breath as visions from the past flashed in his mind.. The lingering remains of those beautiful moments left him with a hollow feeling deep within him and he threw his head back against the covers..

Arjun closed his eyes, afraid he would lose her memories if he opened them.. He wasn't ready to let go of her..Not now.. Not ever..

She was the one.. And he had lost her forever..

Okay.. here we go.. I know it's a bit light-hearted but there's a reason it's here.. You all and our Hot ACP have to figure out the reason, why.. 😉

Another fantabulous update behna.👏 I loved it.😊

I love the progress shown in Ayesha and Rathore's relationship. They compliment each other well and there is an unvoiced understanding between them, so much so that even the silence is comfortable between the two.

Awe...what a sweet gesture from him to assist in cooking, truly he is one of a kind and I just love him more and more. I chuckled at Ayesha's description at him aim to do thing perfectly always.

And She opened up to him finally, a small step, but she shared some very important moments of her past with him and helped him understand the friendship between the four of them.

I loved your description of the friends, it was as they were incomplete without each other. Each had a distinct personality that made it impossible for the group to exist without the missing personality. Kind of felt sad here because now that one personality, the peace maker of the group is gone for ever. But one good thing she does appear when they need her the most and she is still the peace maker of the group.

Another glimpse into their past sweet.😛

Okay I am going to repeat myself...but I just have no other words to describe their relationship.

It seems they were one heart in two bodies, the way he immediately knew something was off with her as soon as he arrived. The way he understood her feelings and make her understand why her father refused to let her do the field work, if just all clicks into place,

And she unconsciously waits for him knowing he will listen and show her the right path. (At least that is the feeling I got) but then it is understandable considering their hidden feelings for each other.

Loved the scene between father and daughter. Her father even though cop, in the end he is a father first and it is understandable he wouldn't want to put her in danger, but I think it was more than that. He knew that because she is his daughter the enemies would come after increasing her danger factor hence he refused her to do the field work.

Hmmm...little did her father know that she had her prince charming already, not your typical prince charming, but never the less a prince charming. And the said prince charming had shamelessly eavesdropped on father/daughter conversation.

Awe...that small moment, the eyelock, anticipation, wanting to test the new found feelings, I just loved it all. But given the fact that they are both too stubborn they both would have waited for other to make the first move, or were afraid to take that first step in fear of losing their friendship that they ended up making the wrong choices anyway. Again my prediction, I may be wrong, but I get the feeling they both never confessed their feelings for each other fully. Will wait for more on this.

And yes even though she denies it she is willing to turn into that typical girl for him, cook for him, bring him tea and take good care of him all his life.

And yeah I loved that end scene for obvious reasons.😳

So yet another epic chapter behna and I loved every moment of it.
