Chapter One

It was late night and all the Raizadas' had retired back to their rooms except for Aakash and Payal. They both were on the terrace discussing on what to do to find out the truth behind Arnav and Khushi's marriage.

Payal: Aakash ... I can't see Khushi like this anymore! She is so not herself nowadays!

Aakash: Have you tried to talk to her alone?

Payal: How can I talk to her when she is completely ignoring me ... The only time she is around me is when someone else is around! What about you ... Have you tired talking to Arnavji?

Aakash: No I haven't ... He has been busy with back to back meetings! But to me it more over looks like he is avoiding me by attending these meetings. And even if I get hold of him ... I doubt he will tell me anything! Bhai is very stubborn with his decisions!

Payal: What do we do then? We can't just wait and watch all that is happening here!

Aakash: Frankly Payal ... I think the only way we can find out about all this is by asking Khushiji! You will have to somehow make her talk to you! Probably she is not opening up because she is at home ... try taking her out and then talk to her!

Payal: But how will I take her out when most of the time she is ignoring me!

Aaksah: She doesn't ignore you in front of the family right ... ask her then! I am sure she won't deny then!

Payal: Are you sure it will work out?

Aakash: I can't be sure Payal ... but it's worth giving a try!

Payal: Ok I will try doing it tomorrow!

They both started walking down from the terrace but soon Aakash halted near the French windows at the stairs which led Payal to bump into him. She looked at him curiously who had shocked expression on his face. She looked towards where he was looking and what she saw there shocked her too. They both were looking at Khushi who was sleeping on the poolside floor. Payal turned back to look at Aakash who was now looking back at her too ... disbelief was written all over their face.

Payal: Aakash what is all this? Why is she sleeping at the poolside ... that also on the floor? Where is Arnavji? I am not able understand any of this!

Aakash: Neither do I Payal! I am completely confused! But one thing is for sure ... The situation is worse than we expected.

Payal: The situation is worse than we expected? What do you mean by that?

Aakash: I am not sure Payal ... but I have a feeling that Bhai and Khushiji are not really having a happily married life like they are showing it to us! But this is what I feel ... I can be completely wrong in judging it this way!

Payal: Aakash I am getting scared now!

Aakash: Don't worry ... Everything will be alright soon ... We will make sure of that! But your talk with Khushiji should not be delayed anymore!

Payal: Hmmm ... I will talk to her tomorrow itself!

They both had a last look at Khushi and started walking towards their room with determination to solve the problem as soon as possible.

Next day morning everyone was at breakfast table except for Arnav and Khushi. Arnav had left early for office as usual and Khushi was in their room. Aakash noticed this and decided it was time to end this so he called Hari Prakash -

Aakash: HP ... Go call Khushiji! Tell her that I am calling her downstairs.

When Payal heard that, she gave a grateful look to Aakash who smiled back knowingly. Soon they saw Khushi walking down the stairs. When HP had told Khushi about Aakash calling her downstairs, she had hesitated but she did not have any other option other than going downstairs. She reached the dining table where everyone were seated -

Khushi: Jijaji you called me?

Aakash: Yes Khushiji! Come sit and have breakfast with all of us!

When Aakash said that, except for Payal everyone in the room gave a surprised look at Aakash. Especially mamiji ... in fact she was more shocked than being surprised -

Mamiji: Hello Hi Bye Bye ... What are you saying Aakash bituwa? How can this phatti sadi sit with us?

Aakash: Why can't she? She is part of this family and as per our family tradition ... The whole family sits together to eat.

Mamiji: Par Aakash bituwa...

Aakash: Maathe I don't want to have further discussion about this this! Khushiji come sit!

Khushi: But jijaji...

Aakash: Khushiji I have already said this before and I am saying it again ... I don't want to hear anything else any more on this topic... You are going to start eating with us from now on ... That's it ... End of discussion.

Everyone was stunned by the way Aakash said that ... never in his life had he talked like this with his family. If anyone had a slightest doubt of him being Arnav Singh Raizada's brother then that doubt would be erased for ever if they had heard him talking today.

Khushi hesitantly went and sat next to Payal and silently started eating breakfast with her head down. After a while Payal decided to break the awkward silence that was prevailing in the room by executing her plan since she thought it was the best time as Aakash was there too.

Payal: Khushi, I was planning to go to Devi Maiya's Mandir today! I haven't gone there since the wedding. Why don't you join me too ... I am sure you would also want to take her blessings after marriage.

Khushi was taken aback when she heard that ... From morning she was getting one shock after the other ... First jijai calls her down, then literally orders her to have breakfast with everyone and now jiji is asking to accompany her to the temple. All these days she has been trying to avoid to be with anyone fearing that anyone would ask her about her marriage with Arnav ... She really did not want to hurt anyone by not answering their questions ... but what could she do, she really did not have any answers to their questions. The only options she had were to; either avoid them or tell them the truth about Arnav forcing her to marry him. But she chose the first one because she did want to create any more problems by telling them the truth ... Well at least that is what she told herself to convince her confused state of mind but deep inside she knew that was not the real reason for not telling everyone the truth. Nevertheless today she felt like she was being unlucky. Before she could think of an answer to reply back to Payal, Aakash interrupted -

Aakash: That is good idea Payal! You both should definitely go to the mandir and take Devi Maiya's blessings. Am I right Di?

Anjali nodded her head in agreement when she heard Aakash asking for her opinion.

Aakash: And I am sure Khushiji might have been missing visiting her best friend ... Hai na Khushiji?

Khushi: Ji woh...

Aakash: So it's decided! I will drop you off to the Mandir on my way to the office.

Mamiji did not like any of this so she decided to try to spoil their plan of going to the Mandir -

Mamiji: But if they goes to the Mandir ... Who will prepare the lunchwa hello hi bye bye?

Aakash: Maathe we have HP for that ... And anyways before Khushiji and Payal joint the family he was the one who prepared lunch for everyone!

Mamiji: But they are the bahaus of this house!

Aakash: So what? Neither me nor bhai married them to make lunch or dinner for the family members ... As I said before we have HP for that! And I do understand that according to the traditions it's a bahu's responsibility to take care of the household needs but that does not mean that they should not live their own life and not do things they want to do just because they have to cook and take care of the family's needs. I am sure Dadi would agree with me on this ... Hai na Dadi?

Nani: Hmmm!

Mami: But sasumaa...

Aakash: Maathe even you are the bahu of this house ... And I have hardly seen you going to the kitchen to help out with the cooking ... So why are you so adamant on making Payal and Khushiji do that?

Mamiji (shocked): Aakash bituwa!

Aakash: Sorry ... I did not mean to hurt your feelings! I just said what I thought was right!

He then turned towards Payal and Khushi -

Aakash: Once you both finish with the breakfast come outside. I will be waiting for you both in the car.

Saying that he left the dining table leaving behind a shocked family and soon Payal and Khushi followed him.
