Arnav lay in his bed and would let out continuous sighs of annoyance every so often. With the constant nagging from his mother and Khushi - asking him if he needed anything or if he was hurting - it was starting to drive him mad. He slightly tilted his head off the pillow to stare at the open door in vain. Did his whole family suddenly forget about him? He saw his wife's beautiful figure at the door with a tray of odd items there.
"What are you doing?" He asked curiously.
"Changing you bandage," she answered casually and he frowned as his eyes fell on the bottle of alcohol. That was going to burn like hell. She came up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "But you're going to have to get up. I'll have to wrap the new bandage around your ribs."
He used his fists to lift and rotate himself on his bed first to get his feet over the side before slowly inching his way off. By the time he was up, he was panting for air. Khushi had one hand on his chest and another on his back as she rubbed him for relief. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah. Let's just get this over with," he said with furrowed eyebrows and helped her unwrap the bandage before she took the rest of the process upon herself. She removed the blood tainted square gauze that was over the wounded area and put it to the side. She took a good look at the stitches before taking a cotton ball and dipping it in alcohol. "Do not gasp in air - you'll only hurt more. Just hold it in, okay?" She commanded then pressed the wet cotton ball to the wound making Arnav press his lips together from yelling in pain. He clasped a hand on Khushi's shoulder and started squeezing so hard she had to pull away.
"You're going to break one of my bones!" She wailed but immediately felt bad when she saw his eyes glisten from wetness. "I'm sorry," he said breathlessly. She moved closer to his good side and wrapped an arm around his waist. "It's just another few seconds," she said soothingly and tenderly pressed the cotton ball against his wound again. Although he had his arm around her shoulders, he only pulled her closer. He pressed his cheek against her temple. "Please hurry. It hurts to breathe," he said and she did. She very gently pressed fresh gauze against his hurt area and asked for his help as she fully wrapped him around his torso.
"Done," she lightly grazed his stubbly cheek and helped him back to bed. She stacked some pillows so he didn't have to lie completely down.
"I'm going to kill the bas***d who did this to me! The little coward - he didn't even show his face," he cursed then felt Khushi's slender fingers against his forehead. "Try not to stress yourself too much."
"Where's Aditya?" He inquired. His little brother would definitely alleviate some of his stress.
"At school. Have you given up your memory too?" She joked and giggled at his grimace.
They both turned their head towards the door and a smile grew on Arnav's face as he watched his best friend walk inside. "Who's bad side did you get on?" Akash teasingly asked and sat on the edge of the bed while Khushi left to give them a moment.
"How've you been?" Arnav asked him making Akash chuckle. "You're the one who's injured and you're asking me how I've been? Better than you I guess."
Arnav clutched his side as his laughter caused a sharp spasm. "I hate my condition right now," Arnav said seriously.
"We'll get the culprit. But it's so hard to tell - if we go into Sadasya without having proof that it's someone from there then it's going to break the truce and that will only cause another problem."
"I don't know. I'm just thinking, if it is them then I don't want them to get away with it because they had no reason to do this."
"Maybe their reason is Khushi."
Arnav's eyes wandered as he thought of that possibility then he shook his head. "Why the hell would they want to kill me? I didn't steal her from there."
"You're right. But you don't worry - I'll try to figure out who did this." Akash said with a smile and Arnav's face suddenly softened. "I'm sorry for the things I said. You know I don't mean them."
Akash chuckled and swatted Arnav's good arm. "It's all good. You're like my brother so I'll never have any ill feeling towards you - no matter how rude your words can be sometimes."
On the other side of the bedroom wall, Khushi was walking to the porch when her pace slowed down upon seeing Vijay walk up the stairs. "Khushi," he said with a smile but she got a bad feeling from the look in his eyes. Like eyes of a predator he bore his gaze into her. "How are you?" She felt his question had a double meaning.
"I'm alright." She answered hesitantly.
"I hope so. I know Arnav had a very tough time knowing about your truth but it's good to know everything is alright now."
She swallowed the lump in her throat. So he knew too. She couldn't understand how Arnav and him went from enmity to friendship. How could that even be possible despite all the times Arnav spoke so fervently about him.
"The truth might hurt sometimes but it can also make a person stronger. In this case, it's made the both of us stronger." She retorted with a hint of harshness in her tone.
"I'm sure but it also makes you realize how dumb one can be when they don't see things so blatantly obvious," he said with his head tilted to the side and stared at her almost condescendingly.
"What are you getting at here?" She questioned with folded arms over her chest - an instinctual defense mechanism.
He straightened his head and chuckle. "I'm actually trying to get past you! I'm here to check on Arnav."
She didn't say anything but kept her eyes on him as he walked past her and down the hall until he turned into her room.
Arnav abruptly stopped speaking when he saw a grinning Vijay in his doorframe. Akash turned to look at what he was staring at and his face fell completely. He stood up but Vijay shook his hand at him. "Sit, sit! You don't need to get up for me."
Akash's lips formed a straight line and his nostrils flared. He wished that bullet hit Vijay instead. Akash glanced at Arnav. "I have to get back to the shop. I'll see you later." He didn't waste another moment there. He walked out leaving Vijay by the foot of Arnav's bed.
"How are you feeling?" The cunning man asked with pretend concern.
"I've felt better, that's all I can say." Arnav said then covered his mouth as he let out a big yawn. He felt like a newborn baby who had to be put to sleep every few hours. He grimaced at the thought.
"So you and Akash are better now?" He asked, feeling deeply disappointed on the inside.
"Yeah. So?" Arnav narrowed his eyes in curiosity as to why Vijay cared, especially because it wasn't any of his business.
"Nothing. I was just asking because the last time I saw you, you were still upset that he hid such a big truth from you."
"Being put through a near death experience made me realize I have to really appreciate the people who care for me in my life."
Vijay smiled and nodded his head in understanding. "It makes perfect sense. I'm glad everything has worked out. I'll let you rest now." He backed up and waved one last time before walking towards the porch and stopping to show a little smirk at Khushi's back before continuing his walk.
His walk didn't stop. He continued all the way to his meeting place where Sanjay was. "Here," Sanjay said as he passed over Vijay's gun. "If this doesn't work out, I'm going to kill you."
"Come again?" Vijay taunted with a raised eyebrow and the gun held out towards Sanjay. The Sadasyan looked away in hesitation making Vijay callously laugh.
"I'm starting to doubt all this. You really think Arnav is going to sign off his grandfather's land off to you just because you've been nice to him for the past month?" Sanjay stood up to come eye level with Vijay.
"If it doesn't work, then we'll just continue with the plan - which is to kill him off completely." Vijay shrugged his shoulders like his talks of murder were very casual.
"He has a brother and a mother, Vijay! My Lord! Did you even fully think this through?! And me...I actually fell in this stupid idea of yours!" Sanjay started shouting as he held his head in disbelief.
"Shut up!" Vijay yelled over his voice and took a big step to pull Sanjay from the collar. "Arnav's brother is a five year old! And his mother won't be able to run an entire village as big as this one. I'm Chatur Singh's son! I damn well deserve the place!"
Sanjay pushed him off and curled his lips in disgust. "I can't believe I was so stupid! I mean...like father like son right?"
Vijay clenched his jaw and pursed his lips. "Don't talk about abba."
"That's what he is! A killer!"
"SANJAY!" Vijay roared with anger and threatened to shoot him with his finger at the trigger. As much as Sanjay's insides shook, he tried to keep composed on the outside. He disapprovingly shook his head at Vijay. "You would wouldn't you? You would kill your own brother in law."
Vijay put down the gun and released a heavy sigh. "I would but as you know your father is also a part of this plan so that would just ruin everything."
Sanjay gaped at Vijay for his level of shamelessness. The man was truly psychotic to be at ease with the thought of killing just about anyone. And suddenly he didn't want to continue with the plan. He felt a deep feeling of regret for ever going on with his ploy and shooting an innocent man. He admitted greed got in the way but now he was thinking with a clear mind and he couldn't continue with this. "Let's just hope this comes to a quick end because I'm very tired with all of this," Sanjay said and walked away from the clearing until he disappeared within the dense trees.
Arun stood on the cliff enveloped by trees all around. He liked that particular spot more than the other areas because it was an area where he got complete privacy. The scene from his view was breath taking with the greenery of the forests all around simply creating a sense of serenity in the heart and the lush flowing waters of the river making life seem like a fantasy.
He heard shuffling behind him and looked back but couldn't see anyone - it really was impossible with all the trees. "Is anyone there?" He called aloud but didn't get a response. He tried to get back in his moment of peace but that peace was suddenly replaced with worry.
He turned around again and tilted his head from left to right to see as far as he could. Although the footsteps stopped, he still knew something was wrong. "Arnav?" He thought perhaps it was his son but he couldn't imagine how; he didn't know about this place.
He was about to take some steps forward within the forest when he heard a voice behind him. He turned and narrowed his eyes in confusion. "Chatur?"
"Arun...you're looking at such a beautiful place and yet...you really are wasting the value of this land." He said with a frown.
"What?" Arun asked incredulously. Chatur was starting to sound like Surya.
"You told me yourself this whole rivalry between you and Surya was because Surya wanted to make profit from the land but you didn't agree to it. But now...I can see why Surya would propose that."
Arun's brows shot up and he let out a sarcastic chuckle. "What?" He repeated. "First of all, there is no rivalry. What Surya does with his bought land is none of my business. He can turn it into a damn carnival and I wouldn't care. Now for the second part, you and everyone else who has this crazy thought must stop. There's more to life than just money and fame! I mean...Chatur, what's gotten into you?" He scoffed.
Chatur curled his fingers tighter around the big heavy rock that he had hidden behind his back. He knew Arun was going to be a tough nut to crack. He was going to have to do it literally now. "Fine." Chatur said with his lips formed straight. He watched the condescending glance Arun threw his way before he turned his back. Oh what the hell,' he thought. If he was going to finish him, he was going to do it right.
"Arun," he called. Arun turned around but didn't see the giant rock coming right towards him and giving a big blow to his skull. His eyes rolled back in his head and he fell to the ground lifelessly.
Chatur threw the rock in the river first making it create a loud splashing sound before he grabbed Arun from under the arms and tumbled him right down - watching as his head and the rest of his body bobbed up and down, hitting every rock that came in the way before it was taken completely by the water.

Hello hi bye bye! AAAH! Yes, yes! Chatur is the killer! Btw, just some clarifications, Sonam has no idea about Vijay's plan. Because she's an innocent girl, I'll make sure she comes out innocent too. And why? Well...you'll find out! hehe.
Akash has always disliked Vijay but now Khushi is suspicious too. I'm not very creative so when Arnav finds out that Vijay was the one who wanted to kill him, it'll be...cool to me but maybe lame to you guys. LOL
Btw, can I just say to everyone reading this from the beginning that you guys have read past 100 pages of this crazy story. 117 pages to be exact. woopi! haha.
A very big thank you to you all! I love you all, damnit! Hope you liked this part! 😃
