Author's Note: Sorry for very brief update. I am out of time and wanted to give this quick update before I leave especially for Cindistan who requested so politely. You know I can never say NO to you guys. So enjoy.

He walked away from her and gave his credit card to the biller at the checkout counter. She noticed his every move, his flustered frame, his uneasy attitude and most importantly pain in his eyes. He is angry but his eyes are soft as ever and expressed pain and confusion at what he has become.

She felt guilty seeing him in pain. This man who is now purely money minded businessman was once her friend. Her heart ached for him when he lost everything. She was just trying to prove her point but she realized that she went overboard and hurt him deeply this time. She picked out the wedding Lehenga that he personally chose and handed it over to the sales guy and walked past Arnav who is waiting for her at the counter. When Arnav was asked to sign the bill, he signed it without checking the amount as his eyes were glued on her, waiting for him outside the glass doors of the store.

Arnav picked the shopping bag and walked out the store and to his car without waiting for her to follow. But she followed him playing with her phone as if everything is normal. He opened the door for her but she was completely engrossed with her phone, that she absentmindedly sat inside the car without acknowledging his presence which irked him more.

He never craved for anyone's attention but he started seeking it constantly from Khushi for the fact that she is royally ignoring him. That frustrated him more with the more time they spent together. He just wanna get over with anything and everything that has to deal with Khushi as soon as possible. He was doing great leading a majestic life with no one around to question him until she re-entered in his life. And most bizarre thing he felt is, she is shutting him off completely with her stupid questions, at least stupid enough to him.

The rest of the drive remained silent without any verbal communication. Then, Khushi received a call and she read NK name on the display. She appeared uneasy; she looked at Arnav whose eyes were fixated on road. She thought for few secs and answered the call.

Hello...

Hey what are you doing?NK questioned her in tyranny.

Khushi's phone volume was set to so loud that Arnav could hear NK's voice.

Khushi looked over her shoulder to Arnav, who appeared calm and composed.

I am out with Arnav for shopping. Tum batao? How's your day? She spoke candidly.

Shopping? With him? Why is he with you? You should have asked me? I would have taken you.

Papa asked me to go with him. She hid the actual reason and spoke in low tone hoping that Arnav will not hear her. But Arnav heard and that brought a subtle pride smile on his lips. He felt good when he heard her lying to NK as if she liked being with him. He took quick glance at her while she struggled to answer NK's questions. She is not a good liar, he mentally noted with a smile on his lips. He didnt wanna eavesdrop but he couldnt help enjoy their conversation and Khushi's struggle to mask the truth. Soon he forgot their fight as he got more and more engrossed in their conversation.

Then heard NK's question which ticked off Arnav's temper again.

I told you to not to make it public. Didnt you put forth this as condition to him? NK asked in irritated tone.

No.

What do you mean NO Cookie? I told you it would be problem to convince my parents.

Then you should not have asked me to marry another man in the first place. She smarted.

There you go! Finally her brain is working. Arnav mentally chuckled.

NK softened his tone hearing her back answer.

Cookie, Its fine if he took it to media but he spoke as if you guys are in love from childhood.

Now this a**hole is bitching about me. Arnav swore under his breath.

NK...before Khushi could speak further, Arnav grabbed the phone from her hand and spoke to NK.

Khushi is my fiancee and it is our business to talk about our relation the way we want. I do not want you to contact my lady until she becomes single again.

How dare...

Arnav very casually threw Khushi's phone out his window and the phone went dead on NK. NK tried her number again and again but remained unreachable.

Arnav, my phone? what the hell have you done? Arnav, stop the car. stop the car dammit. Khushi yelled at Arnav.

Arnav did not stop the car nor looked at her. He is fuming with anger. How dare that cheap bas**** talk about me. Arnav mentally swore at NK.

Arnav stop the car else I will jump off the car. The moment she unlocked her door, he central locked all the doors swiftly.

What the hell do you think of yourself? You have no right to involve in my personal life.

Thats exactly is my point, no one has any right to involve in OUR personal life, even if that person happened to be your longtime boyfriend or your father. Its no longer YOUR personal life Ms. Gupta, straighten it in your head. You agreed for the marriage and you better be abide by some rules, MY rules.

She sat at the edge of her seat, peeving and heaving furiously at him. She didnt say a word.

You are not talking to NK and jeopardize my image in media until we are divorced. He stopped the car in front of her house, hitting the brakes hard and unlocking the doors.

She stormed out of the car and rushed to Arnav's side which is facing the busy street and raised her hand showing his cellphone, dangling between her fingers.

Khushi, NO! Arnav yelled from inside the car unbuckling his seat.

Khushi smiled wittily challenging him.

Khushi dont you dare. I will lose all my business contacts and emails. He got out of the car and rushed to her.

Stop right there! If you take even a step towards me, I will throw this.

Arnav stood where he was without moving.

What did you say? OUR personal life? There is no OUR between you and me Mister and will never be in the future. You need to straighten it out in your head. Just because I agreed to the marriage, doesnt mean that I will be your puppet dancing to your tunes. I live my life on my terms, Mr. Raizada.

Khushi, watch out..Arnav screamed and faked a truck approaching Khushi. As she turned around, he grabbed the opportunity and twisted her arms behind her back and took the cell phone from her hands.

He tightened his grip on her wrists until she winced in pain.

I dont think you ever lived your life on your terms, Ms. Khushi.. Kumari.. Gupta.. Not now, not then! I dont think you should have any problem if I impose certain rules in our relation, after all you oblige to everyone's demands dutifully, Am I right?

Her eyes brimmed hot with sudden tears as she looked at his pair of eyes which depicted 27years of her life in his one statement. His heart melted at her tears and he released his firm grip.

I sacrificed my career and 8 years of my freedom to support my father's responsibility to raise...She stopped what she was about to say "to raise a common man to business tycoon". And You are right. I did as I was told all my life and I dont have any regrets about it because at the end of the day I loved each of my decision and I am proud to say that am a doted daughter, lover and in fact a friend too, which you failed to realize.

She turned back to walk away but she stopped after few feet and turned to him.

Actually, I do regret for one thing. I shouldnt have wasted my valuable years writing so many e-mails to you.

She vanished as he stood there understanding each and every word of hers. He absentmindedly walked to his car and started his way to his home.

Dammit! He took U-turn and headed to Khushi's house.

He rang the doorbell and soon he was received by Garima. He handed over the bag to her but his eyes searched for Khushi. He felt the sudden urge to see her as he saw her last leaving in tears.

Aunty, may I meet Khushi?

Ofcourse, she is in her room.

Arnav nodded and walked towards her room and soon he was stopped by Garima.

Beta, if you are anyway going to her room, why dont you personally give the bag to her?

Ji! He took the bag and walked slowly to her room, framing his questions to get some things clear.

Her bedroom doors are open and he noticed her sitting on the bed and applying some cream on her hands. He looked closely and he realized she is tending her bruised wrists. He closed his eyes in guilt and swore under his breath.

He knocked at her door. She raised her head to look at him.

What are you doing here? Is there anything left to say? She barked at him.

He pounced on her irritated with her rude tone. Again his eyes fell on the bruised wrists. He closed his eyes tightly ine ffort to control his temper.

Your bag! He spoke softly, looking at her wrists.

She grabbed the bag from him while he stood looking at her wrists. He extended his hand to touch her wrists but Khushi stepped back refusing him. He fisted his palm in the air and took it back angrily and walked away.

Its been 5 years since Arnav checked his personal e-Mail. Initially in the last 8 years, he couldnt check due to lack of time and eventually he totally forgot about that email address and its credentials.

After he heard from Khushi that she emailed him several times, he came home and tried to login to the old email address but he couldnt as he didnt remember the password. He tried to reset the password but he is not getting the personal details correct. He called Akshay who is the only other person who can know his password.

Akshay what is my email password?

How do I know buddy, ask your secretary.

Arnav was shocked to see 73 emails from Khushi in span of last 4 years. He sat down on his bed leaning against his bed frame and started reading her emails one at a time. He spent 2 hours without moving from his position reading each and every word of hers. When Kaka came to call him for dinner, he shooed him away asking him not to disturb.

Some emails, he read again and again. One such email is her last email that she sent over an year ago.

Arnav,

This is my last email to you. I tried to reach you relentlessly for last 3 years but I guess you are still upset with me, for some reason that I am not aware of. I couldnt stop myself emailing you for so many times, partly because I wanted to know the reason that made you angry and say harsh words to me on our last day.

Every time I saw your name on the papers, I wondered why you didn't make any efforts to reply me. I guess you never considered me as your friend after all.

I am happy that you are reaching new heights and may all success be in your destiny.

Her last email was very painful to read. He closed his eyes and covered his face in his palms and her teary eyes flashed in front of him.

He felt guilty, for no mistake of his, for not knowing her efforts to mend their broken friendship. He had no clue that she would try to reach him so many times in these years. He is impressed yet another time, for her dedication and perseverance. But one question bothered him, Why does she have to try so many times, when she heard nothing from him?
