So Khushi thinks Arnav could have prevented the wedding if he wanted to but he did't, instead she feel she is forced in this unwanted marriage because of him and that's the reason she first want to see or accept any good points in Arnav and she is no way near accepting him as her husband.

She might not be a good wife or even daughter in law but she is a good human being and because of that she will help fellow human with out any question and that's what she did and even asked pardon from Devi Maiya. Agreed! Thank God someone could understand this!

Arnav has now have decided nog to make any demands on Khushi or have any expectation. Lets see how long that lasts. ?????

Chapter Nine

Revelation

The next morning, Arnav left to his office without bothering to wish Khushi a good morning. He put some money for her on the side table of the bed, and she took them before leaving to university. Upon seeing Payal, Khushi wanted, for a moment, to share the last encounters of her married life with her, but then she stopped herself knowing that Payal would start giving lectures to her about how to be a dutiful wife.

As she reached home after her lectures, Khushi took an hour rest before joining Nani Ji, Mama Ji and Mami Ji in the living room as they were chatting about some relatives Khushi did not know. Nani Ji along with Mama Ji started a conversation with Khushi asking her about her family tree; Khushi replied with a smile loving their good nature and the family's atmosphere that she missed. Mami spoke from time to time usually commenting on what she did not like.

After three hours of being with the family in the living ro, Khushi hepled Hari Prakaash in making dinner. Meanwhile, Arnav and Akaash reached home with the signs of tiredness drawn on their faces; they left to their rooms for a quich refreshing shower before taking their seats on the didning table.

"Hmmm, this is so delicious, Khushi Bitya. I did not know that you can cook very well." Nani commented after having a bite from the pakoras that Khushi made. Arnav was surprised to hear that, 'Did he hear right?! She made pakoras !' He took a bite to taste it, and somehow it was heavenly for him probably because Khushi had made it with her own hands.

"Do you like it, Chotte?" Nani asked interrupting Arnav's thoughts.

"Yes, Nani. It's good. Thanks Khushi." He replied plainly that Nani sensed something to be wrong between the two of them, but she chose not to interfere.

"Not only good, it's amazing Bhabi. Thanks." Akaash said cheerfully. Khushi smiled at him before sitting on the empty chair beside Arnav which was left for her to have her dinner. After eating for another minute or so, Arnav excused them saying that he was tired. Khushi noticed that he did not touch the pakoras except once when tasting it.

'Why could not I have more of it when I loved it?' Arnav asked himself as he was climbing the stairs u to his room. It was because f the strong emotions he felt while having it, and he did not want to get used to expect anything from Khushi.

Khushi noticed that Arnav was tossing on the recliner, a sign that he was not asleep. She had not realized before that she was accustomed to him that she felt a space in this day as he did not speak with her. She brought the light blanket to her shoulders covering them as she sought for something missing in her life, something she could feel it's absence yet she could not recognize.

Arnav tried his best to keep a distance with Khushi, so he would not hurt himself anymore, so he would not be a burden for her. He talked with her twice or thrice and that too in the presence of his family. Rahul had called Arnav once to be surprised by the heaviness in Arnav's voice. When Rahul had asked about him and Khushi, Arnav hesitated for a fraction of second before deciding not to tell him. It was only between him and her.

Khushi looked at the books he bought for her. As much as she had been eager to read the Twilight series before, she could not come into terms to hold a book and start reading.

On Sunday, four days after Arnav's outburst, Nani had decided to have breakfast in the garden , and all had agreed to her. The cool breeze of autmn touched Khushi's cheeks caressing her making Khushi's lips shape a beautiful smile, and her hair flew carelessly. Arnav stared at her for a while as she held a strand of hair to put it behind her ear. He gulped the lump that formed in his throat forcing himself to look away, and start with his meal before leaving to hs room as he had to finalize some work-related papers. Khushi followed him in the room after some time. She decided to fold her clothes neatly in the cupboard. Unintentionally, she remembered the many times she had seen her Amma folding her Babuji's clothes tenderly smelling them from time to time, and hugging them close to her hear with a smile that lit up her face. As Khushi was about to finish her job, her phone rang breaking the silence of the room.

Khushi took her phone out from her bag quickly as she knew it could be either Amma or Payal, and she wanted to talk to any of them.

"Khushi," Garima's voice was hoarse as if she was crying.

"Amma, kya hua?" Khushi enquired getting worried by the second. Arnav looked at Khushi studying the change of her facial features as signs of worries started to form.

"Khushi, your...your Babuji...We are at the c..city hospital..He..." Her Amma's desperate voice reached her ears bouncing really hard in her heart before it vanished in the air, and Khushi heard the peeps which signaled that the call ended.

"Amma," Khushi called her Amma before dropping herself lifelessly on the edge of the bed. Automatically, the phone was dropped to the floor as her palms covered her face as she felt numb. She tried to make sense of her Amma's words before she cried out 'Babuji'. Arnav ran the little distance between them in a hurry taking long strides.

"Khushi, what happened?" Arnav asked with a concerned tone as he stood in front of her. Khushi could not utter a word as she burst into tears.

"Khushi, please tell me what's the matter?" Arnav could not tolerate seeing Khushi in that state.

"Woh...Babuji..hospital mein." She said between the sobs. Arnav filled a glass of water from the jug on the coffee table for Khushi and held it to her lips. Khushi took it from him swallowing the water at once.

"I want to see him now." Khushi stood up. "Take me there." It was the first time that Khushi was asking Arnav for something, and he was willing to do so.

"Okay. I'm waiting for you down stairs. Wash your face and calm down." Khushi did as she was asked to before following him in the lightening speed that she reached the car before him. Arnav sat in the car, and looked at Khushi, who was paler than ever. He found her lost in some memory while crying silently.

"Khushi, fasten your seatbelt." Khushi almost jumped as he spoke. She tried to fasten it, but could not as she felt weak at the moment. Arnav bent down to fasten it when a tear fell on his cheek. He itched to wipe off Khushi's tears, but he stopped himself not wanting to disturb her. He sat straight, and wiped the tear off his cheek before switching on the ignition key and asking Khushi to guide him to reach the hospital. He actually knew the roads very well, but it was a way to distract her mind a little so she would not think more about her father.

'The hearts relationships are greater and stronger than the relationships that based on blood.'

'When we are together, we can get over every trouble, face every challenge just because with our beloved's support we can stand up again.' Khushi remembered two of her father's encouraging words that she could never forget because he was always reminding her of that.

Arnav noticed that Khushi was again lost in the memories, and the tears still fall down her delicate cheeks. He called her and asked where to do next as he reached a crossroad, and she told him with a weak hoarse voice.

Once arnav stopped his car in front of the hospital, Khushi ran out of it and asked a nurse was in the reception area. Arnav followed Khushi as he felt worried for his uncle, and worried about her too. He heard Khushi asking her Amma something inhoherently.

"Aunty, what happened? What did the doctor say?"

"He had a heart attack...The doctors are still checking him." Garima spoke between the tears. As Khushi heard what her Amma said, she broke down crying badly that she was about to fall, but Arnav held her.

"I'm going to see the doctors. Khushi take your mother to the rest room."

Arnav's waited for the doctors to show up. Once the door got opened, he rushed to the doctors to inqire about Shashi's health.

"Hello, Mr. Malhotra. Shashi Gupta is my father-in-law. How is he now?" Arnav asked recognizing one of the doctors.

"Hello, Mr. Raizaada. Shashi had a myocardial infarction that's commonly known as a heart attack. It happens when blood stops flowing properly to part of the heart and the heart muscle is injured due to not enough oxygen. This mainly happened to him because of high blood pressure and stress. He has a moderate heart attack that had affected the muscle in his left ventricle." Mr. Malhotra explained walking with Arnav towards his room. Arnav asked the doctor about the therapy process and everything related Shashi's case hoping that everything would be okay just for Khushi.

"Can we see him?" Arnav asked as he stood up.

"For any heart attack the first few hours are absolutely critical, and he is still unconscious. You can see him once he gain his consciousness. Don't worry too much, Mr. Raizaada. I'm sure his case is under control, and our doctors are excellent to do deal with such cases." Arnav shook hands with the doctore before leaving to see Khushi and Garima.

Both of them stood once Arnav entered the rest room with signs of wonders visible on their faces. "We'll be able to see him once he gains his conscious and this will be any time soon." Arnav said softly hoping it would calm both the ladies calm.

"Khushi, come with me." Arnav asked Khushi to follow him out of the room leaving her Amma behind as he looked at Khushi's state.

"I know this is not easy at all for you Khushi, but you need to be strong, if not for yourself at least for your mother. You need to console her, and support her. Please hold on..." Arnav told Khushi tenderly as he could not see her in that way. His phone rang as he was about to say something more to Khushi. He picked up the call to answer a call was from his brother, Akaash.

"Yes, Akaash...I'm at the hospital...it's Khsuhi's father... A moderate heart attack. No, don't let anyone come any soon. Once the visits are allowed, they can come...okay, bye." Arnav replied in the phone to Akaash's questions which needed answers from the Raizaada family especially Nani who noticed Arnav and Khushi's absence first.

Khushi was sitting with her Amma alone as Arnav left to buy them something to eat. Khushi inquired about her Babuji's health from Amma to be stunned that her parents knew that her Babuji's health was not okay from the last months.

"But you haven't told me anything, Amma." Khushi was hurt to know that her parents hid that from her.

"Her babuji asked me to not tell you as you were having your high school exams, Bitya."

"But...how could not I know about this and..."

"This is what you father wanted..actually that's why he insisted to get you married in a hurry. When Arnav bitwa proposed you, he was taking things very slowly, but your Babuji asked him to do everything in a rush, and Arnav relucantly agreed though he needed to know you more before taking any step. Your babuji's health condition did not allow him to keep you more with him. He wanted to see you settled in life with a good husband taking care of you as he was not sure what would happen to him." Garima said interrupting Khushi as she felt it's time that Khushi knows everything before breaking into sobs.

Khushi was stunned to hear that; first of all, they hid the truth from her about her father's condition, and most importantly, she had been hurting Arnav for something he had not done. She had been blaming him for everything went wrong in her life when he was not willing to take any step without knowing her opinion. Feeling that she had judged him wrong, Khushi felt so low of herself for every time she hurt Arnav. Moreover, she had behaved rudely with her parents lately though they could not have any other option. They had felt it right to insure Khushi a good future not caring about themselves just to see her happy.

After listening to her Amma's words Khushi felt numb; she could not react in any way.

Note: My medical knowledge is not good at all, I actually don't know how to swallow a medicine, so pardon me if I'm mistaken, and correct me. I'm saying this because one- if not more- of the readers of this story is a doctor. So you can correct me Reema :D
