Part 7:

Arnav waited for Shyam to enter his office. Khushi was hidden in the connecting room of his office, waiting to hear Shyam's voice.

Shyam entered the office smartly dressed, carrying a large smile on his face. He was happy these days as lady luck was favoring him highly. First his engagement to Priya, who belonged to the Delhi elite and now a good job at AR Industries. What more could he ask for?

"Good Morning! How are you doing?"

He shook hands with Arnav and sat down.

"Mr. Jha, before I present you your employment contract, there is something I want you to do for us!" Arnav spoke in a professional manner.

"Ofcourse Sir, anything!"

Khushi sighed in relief at hearing Shyam's first words after a whole month.

"I want you to marry Khushi.."

"Khushi?" Arnav asked loudly, as if he heard it wrong.

"Your girlfriend Khushi?"

"Khushi is no girlfriend of mine, Sir! I told you yesterday!" Shyam returned to his normal tone. Khushi stood in the room, her mouth wide with shock.

"Look Shyam! She is in dire need of your help! I know you love her, then why not help her out!" Arnav eyed him anxiously, knew this was what Khushi wanted to hear.

"I..am engaged!" Khushi bit he lip.

"So what, you can break that engagement! You have been in relationship with this girl since two years, your one week old engagement is no match against that!"

"Sir, you are absolutely right, but my parents will never accept that. I have a lot of respect for my parents and I cannot go against their wishes. But I will try my best to help Khushi at this rough time"

"Holy Shit! You will try to help her?! She wants to marry you. Will you marry her? She loves you, will you love her back? Haaan?"

"Sir, I am sorry'"

"I am sorry, Mr. Jha! We cannot hire someone like you who does not value relations and commitments. You are free to go, and all the best!"

"But Sir'"

"You have a choice Shyam, marry Khushi and keep this job, or Bye Bye!"

Arnav had thrown the trump card and now lay back on his chair.

"I am willing to help Khushi anyway Sir! You do not need to give me the job for that!" He smiled.

"You will marry her?"

"I will. You were right that I love her too much to leave her in this state'"

"Okay then, I will ask my secretary to bring your contract."

"Miss Gupta!!" Arnav shouted.

Shyam saw someone entering the office from a back door. His eyes widened when he saw it was Khushi. He looked at Arnav and saw his hardened expression. Was this is a plan? How should I get out this? These were his first thoughts.

Khushi stood next to Arnav, teary eyed and stone faced.

"Khushi'trust me 'all this was a plan. This guy is a cheat. He called me here when he knew I was engaged. He wanted you to think..!"

"SShyam, bas! Not a word more!!! I have heard everything! Just'" Arnav saw her trying to control her anger and pain.

"Khushi, you love me, na? Then trust me please?!" He came forward and slid his arms around her.

Arnav advanced towards them but stopped dead when he saw Khushi pushing Shyam away with great force.

"Get your hands off me you bas***d! You have no right to touch me! Just get out!"

"Khushi'." Shyam was trying his best to calm the girl. If she was friends with such industrialists, he may have a better future.

"Get your ass out of here! Or do you want me to call the security?"

"I will leave on my own, Arnav Singh Raizada! But one thing I didn't understand'why were you wasting your time in getting me married to her, huh?"

Arnav gritted his teeth.

"Oh yes you told yesterday, that she is a close friend. I doubt that, really! You know we have been together for two years. And we have been very close, you remember na Khushi. You never had any guy friends. Then how come him?"

Khushi looked at Shyam in disbelief.

"Aur tum Arnav Sigh Raizada! Why don't you marry her? Why are you throwing her on me?"

Arnav came forward and punched him on the nose.

"Arnaavvv!!!!!!!! STOP!!!!" Shyam's nose began to bleed.

Khushi called the security and Shyam was gone.

"I'.am ..sory!" Arnav paced around the office furiously. He wished he had killed that dog right now.

"Tum theek ho?" Khushi asked him while sobbing.

Just then Arnav realized that Khushi was in a way terrible state than him. He held her wrist and made her sit on the sofa.

"I am sorry. I shouldn't have called him in the first place."

"Why are you being sorry? It's me! I am sorry for thinking that he loved me. For wasting my emotions, my love, my time, my energy on him! For living in an illusion!"

"Khushi it's okay. It happens."

"Why Arnav?" Her hazel eyes met his caramel ones. "Why me?? Why is it always me?"

"Because you are too innocent, Khushi!"

"I should just go die, like my mum! This world is not worth living in'"

"Khushi?"

"What is there left in this world. Maa has gone, Bauji doesn't love me at all, he just wants to sell me to his rich friend. My soul is gone..you have no idea' Shyam doesn't love me'I don't want to live Arnav, I don't want to live!" Her cries loudened.

"Khushi, look here and stop crying!" Arnav held her by both her arms.

"Open your eyes and look out. This world is not restricted to those people who don't love you. Look around, you will find people who will love you, who will love you for your goodness, for your innocence, your smartness, your good heart, your beauty. You don't need selfish people in your life Khushi! You deserve love and you will get it!"

Arnav rubbed the tears from her cheeks with his finger tips and saw her lips opening at his touch, and her eyes lowering. Khushi began to feel hot with shyness, but she didn't push him away. If there was someone she could trust now, it was Arnav.
