Part VI
Now the first showdown between sharon and papa shekhawat, bought on a lot of thought from everyone's side. The gang was kept in dark about the showdown, all they knew was things were worse between Swayam and his dad. His dad was a trustee of the Westwood law college, and since st.louis and Westwood were on good terms, they often had similarities. Due to some college administration reasons his dad had to come to at.louis frequently. He took this as an opportunity to observe. Taani being the Gs handled the responsibility of showing him around and guiding him through the college. In an attempt to settle stuff between her brother and her tauji, she often on purpose too him through the path frequented by the gang. Swayam didn't give a damn although he would just give a indifferent look to his dad and move on. Sharon and rey would follow him. His dad was ok with it, although he did feel a bit guilty over taunting Swayam without actually knowing the truth. They were alike in some ways. They both blamed theirselves for what happens around them.

Mr.shekhawat often visited st.Louis and one day it so happened that the gang was in class. While the rest of them were busy playing and fooling around trying to bunk class, he saw his son, attending class seriously, in the parallel row was sharon who took notes but seemed distracted. She would look every 5 minutes, in Swayam's direction, her face which had a confused expression would turn soft and adoring. Taani noticed her taauji outside and excused her self from class. "Mujhe Swayam ki attendance records aur marks dekhna hai." he told her. She lead him to the place where students records were kept and pulled out Swayam's file. He saw and he was surprised. Swayam had topped his year the previous year, his attendance was pretty good, there were some huge gaps and Taani explained it as dance competition absenteeism. He looked through the entire file and came to know of his son's accomplishments. Most of it was for dance and one was for basketball match against a well reputed basketball team. He vaguely remembered his wife telling him about it. The last record in Swayam's file was about the India fest and the formation of the d3 team. Swayam was listed under marketing assistant with Sharon as the manager. He was impressed, that is to say the least. He was still not convinced though. So he questioned Taani there was a part of him which was proud of his son.

He had a work with the VP as the principal wasn't available. He went and he was greeted by him. "If I'm not mistaken, Swayam ki papa?" he asked. "Haan Swayam's dad" he confirmed. "Aap bohot proud hai na?" he asked "For what" Swayam's dad asked confused. "Of Swayam of course!" the VP replied smiling. "Why should I be proud?" the egoistic dad took over again. "wait a minute...aap aur Swayam...dont get along well?" he asked surprised. "He is my son, who is useless and unworthy, har ek kaam hatke se karna hai...and look what he has become? A worthless spineless dancer!" he spat. "The VP was astonished. "Aap bohot ignorant hai when it come to swayam I think, wo ek mamuli nachni nahi, jaise ki aap soch rahe hai. Swayam is one of the lead dancers of the team, he is the captain of the st.louisan team, his academics is perfect, and has good sports skills too, and not to mention bohot hi strong hai aapka beta. You must be proud of him I feel" the Vp said to swayam's dad. "Ahar wo itna smart hai, tho wo uska career sports ya business mein kyun nahi karvathi? Why dance?" he asked. "You should be proud that he's being the change our country needs. He follows his passion, something which we never did, he follows his dream, a liberty we didn't know about back then. You need to be proud not angry or discouraging." the VP adviced mr.shekhawat. "We'll see about being proud" he replied curtly and left only to bang into swayam sharon and rey. While he smiled at rey he cold shouldered swayam. Sharon didn't like it, she started to taunt him again when Swayam cut her off saying, "Jiss aadmi ko tumhari baaton par yakeen nahi hai, usse samjhane ka koi matlab nahi hai" "But Swayam..." sharon argued back, ""I said leave it, Hume rehearsal jaana hai, so chale?" with that he went on his way towards the rehearsal hall. His dad was talking to rey and was still talking when they rehearsed. Swayam had to do a solo cum couple dance and what he did left his dad speechless.
The way he moved to the music, reflected his emotions. He was energetic, passionate and amazing all at the same time. When sharon joined him to do the couple dance routine, Swayam seemed complete. They both were passionate, and seemed lost to the world. They seemed inseparable, unstoppable. The grace she had and the energy he had and the passion both shared set the floor on fire. Mr. Shekhawat was spellbound by their dance. So spellbound that he actually clapped along with the rest of the gang. Pride took over his ego, his pride in his son. This action of his left rey astonished, he felt happy for his friend. He knew it wouldn't be long before things took a turn for good in his best friend's life. His love and his dad, both were on the verge of acknowledging what they felt. One was love and the latter pride.
The rest of the day passed by as usual, and it was at night when his mom confirmed Swayam's deeds to his dad did he feel proud of his son. He actually was impressed, his son he smiled. And yet for observation sake he kept quiet about it and gave a cold shoulder to him. The routine continued and he observed one more thing. The relation between sharon and swayam. He'd often caught either of them staring intently at the other like as they were wishing something. Every rehearsal they were paired up, and whatever they did, they did it together. It was mystique. It was like watching the the earth and satellites. One moves the other adjusts along. But what they was inconspicuous. One could see it only if one observed them closely. Even they weren't aware of it. Sometimes he would have to talk to rey and sharon would also be present and if anything was against Swayam she would make a sour face and glare at him. One day it so happened that he couldn't find sharon or rey, and had coincidentally met Swayam in the corridor. "Tumne sharon ya rey ko dekha?" he asked. "Rey aaj nahi aanewala hai, or sharon abhi tak nahi aayi" Swayam replied. "Oh ok, meine bohot suna hai tumhare bare mein" his dad started. Swayam had closed his eyes then and looked lost to the world. "Wo aa gayi" he murmured. "Kaun" his dad asked. "Sharon" he said opening his eyes with a smile on his lips, but it vanished when he saw his dad. "Tumhe kaise pata?" he asked. "Aap nahi samjhege" he said. The next moment he turned in the direction of the stairs and sure enough sharon came towards them smiling slightly. 'isse kaise pata ki sharon aa gayi? Bina dekhe, bina call ke? Kuch tho hai in dono ke beech...' these thoughts went through his mind as sharon came towards them. After asking her about the cultural activities held and related stuff to which both swayam and sharon answered he left.
Swayam heaved a sigh of relief. "Kya hua?" she asked. "kuch nahi" he replied. "No kuch to hai" she insisted. And he told her about what had happened. "Aur phir mujhe ek ehsaas hua, aur mujhe pata tha ki tum aa gayi, par mein itna kho gaya tha ki mein bhool gaya ki pappa mere samne khade hai" he said. That made her blush slightly and made her heart race. 'i still have the same effect on him, does that mean he still loves me?' she thought.
