Part VII
Shekhawat residence:
"Kya mein Swayam ko itna bhi nahi samjha? Itni saalo se mein apne bete ko sirf or sirf taunt Kia. Kya wo ye sab deserve kartha?" he thought. Swayam's mom entered the room with his coffee. "Aap kya soch rahe hai?" she asked. "Kuch nai, actually ye soch raha hoon ki kya mein galat tha swayam ke baare mein? Jab bhi mein college jaoon tho koi na koi mujhe Swayam ke baare mein kuch na kuch jeh kar jaayenge. Sab ne kaha ki mein proud hona chahiye, Swayam jaisa beta mujhe mili. Kya mein galat tha?" he asked her. "Haan ji, mein kabse appse ye sab batana chahti thi...aap kabhi nahi suni. Waise ab aapko kaise ye samaj mein aayi? Kaun bataya aapse ye sab Swayam ke baare mein?" she asked hoping for the name she wanted to hear. "Sharon...Rey...Taani vp sab ne" he muttered thinking of everything they'd told him. His mom was happy, it confirmed every suspicion she had about the relation between Swayam and Sharon. "Par jo bhi ho mein baahot proud feel karta tha, aaj jab vp ne Swayam ke baare mein bataya, aur phir jab meine wo dance dekha, kya dance tha. Wo itni achi dance kar raha hai ki mujhe yakeen hi nahi ho raha hai ki usse shoulder mein injury hai. Itna flawless tha uska dance. Aur aur, jab sharon aur swayam dono saath mein dance kiya tha na, mujhe aisa lag raha tha ki jaise mein koi romance film dekh raha tha, uska attitude change Hui, from hero to majnu. Uska solo mein wo asli hero jaise lag raha tha aur jab sharon ke saath tha, kuch tho hua, bohot hi chota sa change tha par phir bhi, kuch tho hai in dono ke beech jisse shayad ye dono nahi dekh pa raha hai." he said thoughtful. Now his mom got excited and happy. She was happy beyond words. Her husband finally owning up that he felt proud of his son, their son. Finally after all these years he realises that Swayam is worthy of all the love in this world, worthy of his attention! Her husband who thought dance was a waste, who didn't believe in Swayam, finally says he believes in him. And what's more he has started to understand Swayam. And he has understood it quicker than aa normal person would. Words couldn't describe what she felt. She just smiled and smiled.
Unknown to the parents, Taani who was passing by the room had heard something about her bhai, and had stopped to listen. Bad manners yes, but it was her tauji speaking about her bhai and so she stopped to see if her efforts had helped. What she heard obviously made her happy and it also surprised her. And in that daze she lost her grip on the bottle she held and it fell, making a noise and alerting the couple inside. "Kaun hai wahan? Swayam?" his mom called out. Taani poked her head into the room and said smiling, "Bhai abhi tak nahi aayi, meine bottle ko drop kar di." "Tum sun rahi thi?" pappa asked. "Nahi, mein to room mein jaa rahi thi aur thoda sun Li...par tauji mujhe yakeen hi nahi ho raha hai ki aap ye keh raha hai" she said. "So tumhe pata hai" he said smileing and continued, "Haan mein keh diya, par mein Swayam se kuch nahi batanewale, I want to do something to make him trust in me" he said. "Aur wo trust paane ke liye Hume tumhari aur tumhari friends ki zarurat padegi" his mom said. "Meine abh tak kuch plan nahi kiya" his dad said. "par meri pass ek plan hai" she said. "Par kya?" Taani and pappa asked together. "Mein thodi der mein batati hoon" she said and left to make a few calls.
Meanwhile at St.Louis...
Swayam was just fixing the camera into position so as to record the routine. Sharon entered the rehearsal hall in a flowing white dress. He was dressed in white too, with his shirt half done, his abs peeping out making her want him. He turned around and smiled, but it faltered when he saw her, dressed perfectly looking angelic and making him go frantic. Their hearts beat as fast as it could, but never outracing each others. He played the music and as it started, they moved, locked in each others eyes as if in a trance. [Bg: Sunn raha hai na female version instrumental ] their hands met and they melted away into their world, dancing so gracefully, as the world had never seen. All that existed was them. They swayed to the music, perfectly in sync, with the music and with each other. Feelings of love and sorrow took over.Love that had always existed and the sorrow of not being together. The song ended and sharon was in Swayam's arms. And like countless times before, her face was tilted towards his, her lips slightly parted and her heart beating wildly in the anticipation of his lips on hers; whie he fought with himself to keep him in check. And then he straightened her and left to see the routine. She opened her eyes to find her dream shattered. Her could take it no more and tears fell out slowly tracing their path across her cheeks. "Why?" she whispered. He heard it, though he pretended to be busy with the routine and the music. "Kyun mein itni buri lag rahi hoon jab tum mujhse door jaa rahe ho? Kyun itni jealous feel kar rahi hoon jab aaashi tumhare saath hoti hai? Kyun mein itni concerned hoon tumgare liye? Mein itni buri kyun lag rahi hoon jab tumhare dad tumhare baare mein kuch acha nahi bol rahe the? Kyun itni dard ho raha hai jab bhi mein tumse door hoon? Kyun swayam?" she asked facing him tears streaming down her face. He stood still with his back turned towards her. His fists hurt from the tightening. He didn't turn around or loosen his grip. He just stood and listened. She slowly walked forward, realisation hitting hard with every step. She spoke as she walked, "Ye sab un logo karne chahiye jo pyaar mein hai...par mein tho tumhe like karti hoon, hai na? I like you very very very much, meri best assistant ho, meri secret admirer ho, lover boy ho, meri khayal rakhta tha tum, mere liye bohot kuch ho...ya sab kuch? I don't love you..." she continued taking small steps pausing for a little while as she sorted out her thoughts and feelings for him.
His heart shattered when he heard 'i don't love you' from her lips. His heart which raced against time as she spoke shattered. He lost hope. She spoke again. "I don't love you...i can't love you Swayam shekhawat...I'm not right for you, mein jo bhi karti hoon, tujhe sirf dard deti hoon mein...maybe we weren't meant to be..." she continued still crying. Swayam could take it no longer, he didn't like her blaming herself. She was perfect always was and always will be. He started walking away from her. His eyes showed his passion and love for her. He was just about to leave when she looked at his retreating figure and said, "Phir kyun meri dil keh raha hai ki we were meant to be? Always have and always will be meant to be? Kyun mujhe ya bata raha hai ki I love you? Kyun mein meri dil ki baat suna chahti hoon?" she asked him. He stopped in his tracks, his mind refusing to believe what it had just heard. He turned around in shock. "Haan, sach hai...mujhe tumse pyaar hogaya...I'm in love Swayam...with you" she said choking up a bit, looking into his eyes. Swayam still couldn't believe it. Sharon rushed to him and hugged him with all her might, saying "I love you" over and over again. The impact of the hug made Swayam lose his balance and both of them land on the floor. She kept caressing his face and hugging him, never wanting to let go. He caressed her face and wiped away her tears and said "I love you too sharon". That bought on a whole round of hugs again. And as they whispered I love you to each other, they sat upright, never letting go of each other. They held hands and smiled at each other. Well at least one did. She just kept blushing. He ran his fingers across her cheeks and murmered, "Its so pretty" making her blush more. And then they just sat there trying to get their emotions under control. Every now and then glancing at each giving a small smile.
Meanwhile his mom had called for a meeting of the gang. And they had come to Swayam's house wondering what had happened. Rey knew what it was about as Taani had told him, but the rest of them were clueless. "Hi everybody" his dad wished, as he came into the hall. "Hi uncle" they replied. "I know ki aap sab log ye soch rahe honge ki mein kyun aap sab ko bula liya...well firstly thank you, all of you for making me realise my mistake." the gang looked puzzle. Pappa continued, "Swayam kitni achi hai ye samjhane ke liye thank you...all of you, thanks to you I've realised what I lacked. Now its time for me to make amends and understand swayam. Tell him sorry, and give him all the affection he missed from my side. And for this i need you're help. To gain Swayam's trust, to make things alright". The gang smiled and cheered happy for swayam and proud that they made him realise Swayam's worth. Rey spoke up, "Ye tho bahot achi baat hai sir, and i know ki hum sab aapki madad karunge, swayam ko paane ke liye. Won't we guys?" he asked looking at his friends. "Yes we will" they cheered. "Tauji ab bataeye Hume kya karni hai" Taani asked. "wo mein nahi, meri pyaari wife batayengi" he said motioning towards her, bringingon a whole round of awws. "Aap bhi na...sab ke samne" she chided him. "Teek hai, so, meine bohot dino se ye dekh rahi thi ki sharon aur Swayam ke beech kuch to hai. Aap log mana math kiye, kyunki I know that aap log ko bhi iske baare mein pata hai. Hai na?" she asked looking around. They didn't know what to do, so they nodded yes. "Mujhe ye lag raha ki, ye dono pyaar kar rahe hai, ek doosre se" she paused and looked around. Simmi who thought that sharon wouldn't like it if she came to know, objected it by saying, "Sharon aur Swayam aur pyaar? Ye impossible hai" all except rey nodded in the affirmative. His mom spotted this and suspected he knew something that the rest didn't. Before she could say anything, Vicky spoke up, "Haan Swayam tho sharon se pyaar karta hai par sharon swayam se pyaar, impossible hai" Mr.Shekhawat looked at Vicky his eyebrows raised, while the rest of the gang tried to shut him up. "I mean Swayam tho typical boy next door, majnu types hai, so Swayam can love sharon easily, but sharon can't kyunki wo diva hai, aur diva aur majnu aur pyaar, nahi ho sakta hai na uncle ji?" he quickly amended his words. Mr.Shekhawat was not convinced yet, "Phir bhi, Swayam aur sharon ke beech kuch tho hai jiski wajah se wo dono alag hi nahi ho pa raha hai...aur ye jab hota jab dho log pyaar mein hai...kahi Swayam ya sharon ya dono ek doosre se pyaar nahi kar rahe hai?" he questioned. Rey had a smile on his lips, thinking of how everyone but them had actually come to know or at least suspected that Swayam and sharon loved each other. The gang and Mr & mrs shekhawat noticed this, and stared quizzically at him. Taani cleared her throat and rey came back to reality. "What?" he asked. "Tum kaha hai, hum sab itni seriously Baath kar rahe hai aur tum kuch bol hi nahi raha?" Nil said. "Arrey mein kya bolun?" he asked. "Tumgara opinion, Swayam aur Sharon ka best friend ho na? Tho baatao" mr.shekhawat asked. "Actually sir..." "Uncle" "Sorry uncle, agar aap bura na soche tho mein sab sach bataunga...as in the reality, aap mujhse promise karne hai ki aap Swayam ke baare mein bilkul bura sochenge." rey asked for his promise. "I promise." pappa promised. "Teek hai, so..." rey recounted the entire swaron journey from the day he'd first seen sharon to the secret admirer to the shivam part and post shivam, everything till the trial relationship. When he disclosed about the trial relationship the entire gang was shocked, Swayam sharon together for more than a month. But they were happy until the breakup happened. Simmi knew the reason and she chose to keep quiet about it. When rey had finished there was silence, as they all digested the fact, his mom broke the ice, "Bilkul uski pappa ke tarah" she said a bit aloud smiling. "huh?" the gang looked puzzled. "Wo chodo na, ye humare love story ki baare mein bataye, meine bhi pyaar kiya, love marriage tha humara shaadi" mr.shekhawat said thinking of the time he'd spent wooing his lady love, his wife. "Oooh aur bataye na tauji" Taani asked thinking of how her tauji who is this serious could have been like her bhai. "Wo inka naam bhi majnu tha, jab hum pad rahe the, college ki majnu, aur mein, mein pehle thoda popular thi kyunki college ki kya bolun? Most popular ladki Thi mein, aur phir popularity aur badi Hui jab mein college ki laila hogaya" she said smiling at the memories she shared with her husband. The girls were touched. The boys meanwhile tried to imagine Swayam and sharon that way a few years down the lie and went for their chemistry as they compared swaron and Swayam's parents. "Ab wo sab chodo, abhi hume plan karni hai, kaise Swayam aur Sharon ko ek saath phir se judenge.." his mom reminded them. "Yup, so guys lets start Operation Swaron" rey said and this was followed by cheers from the gang. They sat and discussed about how to get swaron back on track, happily unaware of the fact that the couple the were talking of were secretly romancing each other unknown to them, they were already one, this time for an eternity.
