Chapter 3

"How was your day at college Sharon?" Her dad asked her when she returned from college.

She was actually surprised to see him. She hadn't seen him in a long time. He used to be always busy in official tours.

"You were supposed to be in Delhi na?"

"Yes. But I had to be with you, with her today. Don't you remember?"

Sharon's face turned sad as she recollected what had happened many years back on the same day. She didn't want to recollect anything at all actually.

"Sharon are you okay?" Her dad was concerned.

"Yeah." She said and passed him a smile.

"I know its your mom's death'"

"Dad" she stopped him. "Please, don't make matters worse for me. I don't want to recollect anything as of now." She said.

"Ok." He tried easing the atmosphere. He didn't want to see his daughter sad.

"You wanna have dinner?" He asked her after the ambience was calm enough.

"Not hungry dad." She made a pale face and walked to her room.

"Sharon'" His dad knocked twice on the door of her room.

"The door is open dad.." She said. She was comfortably sitting on her bed, dreaming with open eyes, endlessly.

Sharon's dad walked in to see her sitting like a complete loser. He went and sat next to her.

"What's wrong Sharon?" He comfortingly placed his hand on her cheek.

"Nothing dad'" She said.

"Sharon.. Something IS wrong." He said stressing the word is. "Tell me what it is. You'll feel comfortable."

"Fine dad.. Remember I told you about sixth dancer auditions in the college?"

"Yeah I do."

"I didn't get selected. Someone else got. Even though I was better than her."

"Shh.. Sharon you shouldn't say that. How do you know that you were better than her?"

"Everyone else said.."

"And they selected that other girl?"

"Yes." She grimaced.

"Sharon, I know how much important dance is for you. But trust me, you'll get way better opportunities than this. I know you will. Because you have the potential."

"Thanks dad. But I wanted people to recognize me in this college too."

"They will sweety. Give them some time. You are new. You'll take time to establish yourself. And trust me, if you don't get into the dance team in future na, you are not losing anything. They are going to lose a very strong dancer."

"You really think so dad?"

"I believe so."

"Thanks dad." She said. "Nice talking to you after so long. I'm going to sleep. Good night." She said.

"Good night dear." He said and kissed her forehead.

"Sharon right?" Sharon Rai Prakash was used to everyone knowing her. Not some random person calling out to her "Sharon right?" But then she remembered that she was new to this college.

She was not going to stop. But that voice eventually convinced her to take a look back.

"Yes." She said and looked at the source of the voice. It was Swayam.

"Sorry couldn't talk to you yesterday. I am'"

"Swayam.. I know'"

"You are new right?"

"Yes." She nodded.

"So have you seen the college?"

"No actually.. I haven't."

"Are you kidding me? Then let me show you around."

"Actually no.. I'll go with Kriya."

"I haven't seen her since the morning. I'll show you na."

"Fine." Sharon finally gave in. "You can show me."

Tring tring! At the same time Swayam's phone started ringing with that horrible ringtone of his. S a reminder to teach aashi something. He had forgotten that he was supposed to teach Aashi their routine.

"Freak!" He exclaimed.

"What happened?" Sharon asked, concerned.

"I'm sorry Sharon. I have to teach Aashi today. Actually now. Can't show you around the college."

"Its okay." Sharon sighed. "I'll manage." She turned to go.

"Sharon'are you upset?"

"No I am not." She said without facing him and walked on.

The fact was that Sharon was upset. She didn't know why she felt a weird kind of unhappiness when she heard that from him' Maybe she had still not gotten over the fact that Aashi was the sixth dancer' or maybe that Swayam was teaching Aashi..? Sharon didn't have the answer.

"And this is the rehearsal hall." Kriya was showing Sharon around the college since both of them were free and had no other work to do.

Sharon knew where the rehearsal hall was. She had been there on the very first day. She recollected what had happened that day. A pair of eyes were constantly looking at her. A pair of captivating eyes actually.

Argh.. What was happening to her? Why was she thinking about Swayam??

She tried to shove his thoughts off. Kriya snapped in front of her.

"Sharon, are you with me?" She asked.

"Yes I am." She looked inside the rehearsal hall and saw two people practicing. One was Aashi, and the other was Swayam. Swayam was probably teaching her.

She didn't know why, she didn't like it. She wanted to go from there.

"Let's go Kriya." She said. "I have work to do.
