Part 9B:

He caught her before she fell down...He looked at her now...rather was forced to look at her for the first time!

That indeed was the first time, he was even looking at her pretty face...

She, on the other hand was still in a state of shock but her expressions relaxed a bit as their eyes met and remained locked for a long moment...

After a long moment, she struggled to get herself up, "arre chodo na Arjun...aise hi kab tak pakadh ke rakhoge...waise I don't mind it but phir bhi office hai na?? Koyi dekhega toh kya sochega...yahi na ke aathe hi ladki ne senior pe dhore dhaalna shuru kar diya"

[Winks at him naughtily making the intense moment lighter]

He snaps out and leaves her once she is stable and on her foot...He looks at her once more and speaks out, "so we finally meet miss wrong number!"

Sakshi smiles and looks at him intently and nods, "hmmm...yes we meet! Waise you meet me now...maine toh aapko bohat baar dekha hai!" [Grins cheekily annoying him a bit]

Arjun: mujhe tumse kuch baat karni hai...par yahaan nahi...chalo mere saat

Sakshi: [scrutinizing him with her eyes but then also smiles making it sound funny...in a flirty tone] pehle din hi date pe le jaane waale ho, huh??? WOW thats cool! Agar patha hota ke hot cop Arjun itne cool dude bhi ho sakthe hai toh main bohat pehle hi tumhe mil jaathi na??

Arjun: [flaring up] bhakwaas bandh karo aur chalo...

Sakshi: [showing attitude] abi nahi...mujhe kuch kaam hai...usske baadh sochenge!

Arjun: [raising his eyebrows] accha?? Tumaara kaam toh hogaya na?? [She looks enquiringly as to what he meant...he continues] samjhi nahi...[pointing to the cutting chai] chai toh deh chukhi na??ab kisi aur ko coffee ya tea serve karna baaki hai kya?

Sakshi crunches her face in anger but looks funny making him turn away from her with a grin...

Sakshi replies, "bohat ghatiya joke tha...aise jokes pe sirf aapko hasi aa sakthi hai..."

Arjun: woh joke nahi tha Sakshi...haqeekat hai...warna ek journalist ko ETF mein kya kaam??

Sakshi: [slightly irritated] main ek investigative journalist hoom aur main kya kya kaam kar sakthi hoom yeh toh aap already dekh chukhe hai Arjun...so, plz dont you dare insult my profession!

Arjun: haan tum kya kya kar sakthi ho yeh dekh bhi chukha hoom aur samajh bhi...usi se related kuch baat karni hai!

Sakshi: [casually nodding] okay...let me think it over! Kal tak decide karke appointment dhoongi!

Arjun: par mujhe aaj hi...

[She ignores and tries to walk away without hearing him out because she is offended when he insulted her work...that was one thing that Sakshi Anand could never take...

But he angrily stops her then and there]

Arjun: no one dares to walk away like that when I speak Sakshi...

Sakshi: oh really??? Then be prepared for that as well Arjun...yeh wrong number aisi hi hai! Give respect and take respect is my policy always!

She walks back to the desk leaving behind a fuming Arjun...

Sakshi's mind voice: mujhe patha hai Arjun...you have added things up...wahi baatein mujhse confirm karni hai na??...I can see that...but i am confused if I am ready to tell it to you yet! Bohat se baatein hai jo tumse kehna hai...kuch baatein jo ab sirf mazaag hai aur kuch serious baatein...phir bhi...

She ceased thinking about it when Aisha came in all of a sudden...

Sakshi snapped from her thoughts and enquired seeing Aisha's dull face, "Aisha, tum teek ho?"

Aisha: [posing that she is fine] haan bilkul...I am fine...waise tum kahaan thi??

Sakshi: akdu ACP se milne gayi thi...i mean Sameer sir se nahi...Arjun se! ceasefire karna zaroori tha na?

Aisha: [rolling her eyes] Sakshi...Rathod sir akdu nahi hai...haan Arjun sir thoda akdu hai par ab kuch bathal sa gaye hai!

Sakshi: [naughtily] kya baat hai Aisha??? Sameer sir ko akdu kaha toh bhura laga, huh???

Aisha: waisi baat nahi hai jaisa tum soch rahi ho..i mean...

Sakshi: waise, jaise sab chodo...bas itna bathaa dho kaisi baat hai???

Aisha was searching for answers much to Sakshi's excitement...she was damn sure that something was cooking up!

But Aisha is saved from the situation as Sameer walked in unannounced and voices, "Aisha, Sakshi, main tum dono ko ghar drop kartha hoom..."

Aisha nods and gets up," yes sir...[turning to Sakshi] Sakshi chalo"

Sakshi pretends to be busy..."nahi Aisha...aap dono jaao...mujhe aaj ke case ka details collect karna hai...aur kuch puraane cases ke bhi...ETF ka first article keliye!"

Aisha and Sameer look at each other and then look at Sakshi who appears to have got back to her work leaving no scope for any amount of convincing!

Aisha nods and leaves with Sameer...

Sakshi thinks to herself, "Perhaps you need that time with him Aisha...aur waise bhi mujhe ek important kaam hai!"

She shuts down her laptop and walks to his cabin...Through the glass door, she observes him...

He appears to be in deep thoughts looking at nothing in particular...his eyes refused to even blink for a long long time...there was a lot of pain in those deep intense eyes...but no sign of exhaustion or sleep!

She knew his routine now...she had heard the team talk about his sleepless nights in office and also about the other private sanctum of his...his room in the lodge!

She couldn't help wonder how different this Arjun was...really a rebirth of sorts...

He seemed a total stranger to her now...a completely new person...

"kitna bathal gaye ho tum Arjun?" she voiced out mindlessly!
