I can imagine how demotivating and frustrating it must be for 'the writer' to have had your work plagiarised. Something needs to be done about this because this will just keep coming back and claiming more writers on IF if its not addressed soon. FF forum is one of the biggest forums on IF now and quite frankly it cannot run the way it was set up years ago, needs a complete overhaul. This has to start from grounds up - it will be next to impossible to protect intellectual property when there is blatant violation of other rules because one thing leads to another. I know this is a difficult issue to deal with because plagiarism is not always a black and white issue but may be its time IF had a zero tolerance policy on plagiarism and a stricter implementation of existing rules? I understand, a blanket policy would be hard to implement owing to the nature of the beast but that at least sets up a direct dire consequence for the plagiarists to be fearful of. While I agree to the need to do something about plagiarism, I do not agree that deleting newbie accounts is the way to go because its unfair to brand an entire group of people who may simply be silent readers (by their own volition) and there is nothing wrong in that just because of a few who may have misused the same. I know it doesnt sound fair but I dont think thats the route to take. Just remember folks before you begin to judge people based on their newbie status, everyone starts off as a newbie on IF.
