@Krani: That TV adaptation issue is same as this one as the sequence of events were the same. Hence her thread was closed in the INITIAL chapters itself. So if the same is applied her, Gargee's thread should be closed as well

Yes Z. I agree with you. We cannot have inconsistent application of rules. I think this has happened as Jot isnt around, if not we would have got a resolution much earlier.

I hate going on a thread an accusing anyone of plagiarism, having seen my close friend unfairly accused and humiliated without any substantial evidence, which is why I sent Jot a PM. Know anyone else we can contact?

NB ji we can contact SuhanaSafar or even MP_Radha but the same issue will happen. Jot has always dealt with plagiarism since I am on the forum and I personally am more comfortable with her. We have had all the plagiarism discussions with her. She knows the 'entire history' of plagiarism here

Phir bhi contact both SuhanaSafar and MP_Radha. I cant as I am online from phone :-\

I understand what all of you are trying to say here and you're absolutely right about having the same rules for everyone.
Nonetheless, I do think Krani's questions regarding adaptations and inspiration is one that should be clarified by the DT,
NB, of course, if Gargee was doing this commercially, she would need all sorts of clearance and paperwork but she's not.
This is fan fiction where the lines are incredibly hazy. What could she have done? Emailed Anders asking if she can adapt her book and cross it over with IPK for her fan fiction on one forum!?

The reason I feel the need to say anything on this at all is that I've seen numerous instances of 'adaptation's' and 'cross-over's' here, and none of them have gotten into this kind of trouble. I see a lack of consistency here again.
I honestly don't see this as qualifying as outright plagiarism.
Lazy, the same sequence of events may be handled very differently by different writers. That is where the writers role into this comes in and we haven't really seen her do much since it's one chapter that has gone up. The scene in question appears to be a rather important one and for all we know, she may have been heading in a very different direction. Or in the same direction. I repeat, we really don't know.

I will use an example of something I wrote recently. It was a one-shot that was inspired by Rebecca-- or adapted even. I didn't think that would be an issue at all!
I think we'll all agree that she made a mistake by not crediting the original right away, but that is a different issue. Is locking her thread NOW, really the answer? Now that she HAS credited the original?

Regarding previous action, if the DT had indeed reacted the way you say it had, I think that's unfair as well. Everyone should be allowed a fair chance to defend oneself, no matter what. And the DT ought to definitely consider its own policy.
I have no idea what the incident you refer to is, Lazy, but I would DEFINITELY term that an overreaction.
Often when you write, you don't even realize that you might have used certain phrases or literary devices in the same way that a favourite author has. I will not say anything further on that particular issue since I haven't been witness to any of it.
But I think it is important for the DT to set a precedence for not just consistency but also fairness.

@Semanti: Regarding that in incident which you think was an over reation is that that member copied several scenes and not just one!

Another point that I wish to raise is why this dicussion now? Why is she being defended indirectly?

An adaptation requires permission. But an inspiration doesn't. I have neither read Rebecca nor your OS. So I can't comment on it. But after this incident I read the Unwanted Wife fully!

What she has done is a definite case of plagiarism, credit or no credit as the sequence of words and events were the same including the way they were lying down on the bed!

I will relate a recent incident. You can find it if you go a few pages behind. The member had clearly said at the start that she is merely changing names of the characters of the story to her favourite one. In my eyes she was doing a favour to those who love reading fics on that couple by changing names and posting it! Yet her thread was closed because that is plagiarism!

If any changes in rules should happen now, this case cannot fall under it as it happened BEFORE the new rules.

So this case should be handled in the same way as the previous ones. No changes there!

I have a question to everyone here, will you have reacted the same way you have if the author was not popular enough/ someone you knew/ you followed?

What if this thing was done by a newbie?

I just want to know why you are having this conversation here when i know and i have also seen a lot of times, that you have bombarded with your posts the thread of a less known author who tried to copy or addapt something, so why this different type of treatment for this writer???

Well, its quite shocking to see how things have played out with respect to Gargee's new ff..

I just want to know, does every writer who writes in this forum are aware of the new set of rules that have been implemented recently??I'm saying this because 95%of writers including the famous ones and newbies who write FF based on tv shows and they open a new thread or post the prologue in that particular show forum, chances are that many aren't aware of the rules as they post it directly in the respective show forum instead of fan fiction forum...

Plagiarism is plagiarism no matter who have done it and the rules are applicable to all... Oly Gargee can given an insight to it, and to be very frank the last time I read her work shades of grey, it was more than 5 to 6 months back and I don't see her login here regularly like most of the writers chances are that she isn't aware of the new set of rules..I ain't defending Gargee, but I just now everyone deserves a fair chance to defend themselves and their actions.
