Chapter 9B: accha ya bhura, yaadein yaad aathi hai...

Riya had to give up now….Saying no to Arjun wasn't her forte any day…yes she said it once but that had a reason to it…but this didnt need such a stubborn attitude..she could tell him her thoughts about the case..."mujhe Anitha mein meri hi ek jhalak dikhi…."

Arjun was a bit taken aback by that but he waited for her to explain and she did speak up "Vivek jithna seedha dikhta hai utna hai nahi!"

Arjun knew it too but he probed her "tumhe aisa kyun laga?"

Riya: ek simple si intuition…shaayad aapki training kaam aa rahi hai….lag raha hai ke jo humein dikh raha hai woh sach nahi hai……baat kuch aur hai…..

Arjun nodded "hmm….."

Riya: logon ko aur acche se pehchaane bhi lagi hoom shaayad!

Arjun was getting to see more of Riya's torturous life when he heard Riya's matured talk and her empathizing with Anitha….Riya sounded too sure that Vivek was behind all this….and also that he wasn't having a good smooth relationship with Anitha…The brutal murder of a pregnant Anitha had sure brought afresh all the past tortures that she had endured in Riya's mind….

He clenched his jaws in anger as he realized another dark secret that Suraj had also tortured Riya in their married life…..Riya had unknowingly let out that secret to him!

Next day at office….

The team is at the conference table…..

Arjun: Shree, Vivek ko phone lagao aur usse Anitha ka doctor ke baare mein poocho….

Shree calls up and puts the phone on speaker…."hello Mr Vivek….."

Vivek: haan..bol raha hoom…

Shree: main ETF se Shree……humein ek information chahiye….aap ki wife ka doctor kaun hai?….i mean check up keliye kahaan jaathi thi??

Vivek: doctor??? Usse doctor ke paas jaane ki zaroorat kya thi???

Shree: [Arjun gestures him not to reveal the reason and asks him to cut the call] nahi kuch nahi…bas aise hi routine question poocha tha….bye…

Sameer speaks up when the call is cut "isska matlab Vivek ko Anitha ke pregnancy ke baare mein patha hi nahi tha…."

Chotu: kya aisa ho saktha hai ke Shravan Anitha ka…..

Riya snaps him short hastily "CHOTU…..kuch jaane behair ek ladki ke baare mein aise baatein matth karo…."

Chotu mutters a silent apology and become silent….

Sameer looks at Riya with confused expressions….her sudden outburst at Chotu had sure annoyed the chief but he didn't want to scold and hurt her for that….

Arjun understands her state of mind but then gestures her to cool down…

Shree voices out in support of Chotu "Riya, tum itni hyper kyun ho rahe ho? Chotu case ke point hi toh batha raha tha na? Anitha ka affair Shravan ke saaat hone ka chances hai na? Toh saahir si baat hai ki baccha bhi usi ka hoga…[correcting himself slighty] I mean ho saktha hai, right?"

Riya glares at him but doesn't spit out her anger out in words but just gets up and walks out from there excusing herself silently….

Shree tries to get up but Arjun asks him to chill "main Riya se baat karunga….i will just be back"

Riya was in the terrace garden, a place where she felt peace at such times nowadays….Arjun followed her and stood by her side leaning on to the railing…..He could see that Riya's eyes were flooded with unshed tears….

He stood silent for a few seconds and then spoke up "Riya…yeh sirf ek case hai….usi isaab se dekha karo…don't take it on a personal level! Agar sab kuch personal level pe le jaavogi toh…"

Riya: [cut him short understanding what he intended to say] I know Sir….but sometimes, its gets too difficult to handle such things….kuch hi karlen ateeth ke kuch baatein kabhi bhi bhool nahi paathe….and such similar happenings bring them back in the worst of forms…..I cant help reacting Sir….main control nahi kar paa rahi!"

Her tears rolled out as she said that…..

Arjun pats on her shoulders to comfort her "its ok Riya….its ok…I understand!"

Riya was on the verge of breaking down and she needed a supporting shoulder….his comforting pat was just the one needed at that moment……she just turned to him and placed her head on to his chest and broke down…as if all her bottled up sorrows and tears just flowed out and her sadness came out in broken words……."Anitha ki tarah mujhpe bhi aise blames tha….koyi galthi kiye behair mujhe characterless kaha gaya tha…."

Arjun was a bit taken aback by her sudden gesture and her painful words…he slowly enclosed her in a warm comforting hug and consoles her caressing her hair gently...how he wished to take all her sorrows away from her "Riya…plz….rhona bandh karo….kab taka teeth ko yaad karke aanzoo bahaathi rahogi??….forget all that hurts you Riya!"

Riya snaps out, opens her eyes and steps back from him in a startle realizing what she just did….."Sorry sir…maine…."

He smiled and spoke up sensing her uneasy feeling "its ok…what are friends for?"

She gave a faint smile but her heart was thudding real fast…"friends!" that word seemed really distant from what she felt for him…"will she ever be able to see him as just a friend?"

Looking up at a person who was once very special to her, her first love as just a friend seemed a herculean uphill task!

Her sobs were faint now…She spoke up between her sobs "Anitha bechaari, itna cruel death hui hai….aur marne ke baadh bhi usse peace of mind nahi mil rahi hai…..sab usske izzat ka dhajiyaan udhaa rahe hai…..aur asli culprit abhi bhi aazaad hai!"

Arjun replied sternly "hum usse nahi chodenge Riya…Anitha ko zaroor insaaf milega…."

Riya nodded assured by his promise to give justice to Anitha…..but she slowly muttered to herself "kuch bhi karein, usse waapas tho nahi laa sakthe…life plays cruel games at times!"

However low she voiced that out, Arjun could hear it…..yes it was true….Death is a cruel reality which can never be reverted….. no matter what, no one comes back from that….

Riya could see the pain in his eyes….she knew who better than him could feel that pain…the pain of losing a dear one to death…..She couldn't gather words to console him even today….never did she have words to comfort him…neither in the past, nor today….may be never ever too!

She just looked at him for a while and decided to leave him alone for some time….Anyways, she had something more important at that moment…She had to apologize to Chotu and Shree for her rude behavior….

She silently nodded to him and bid a quick bye before walking away…..

Riya walked to Chotu and Shree…..Both of them continued their work trying to ignore her….

Riya holds her ears and speaks up "sorry Chotu….maine bewajah tumpe chillaaya…."

It was almost impossible for Chotu to remain angry or pose to be angry with his sweet friend….He broke the act in just a second with a sweet smile…..He gave a friendly punch to her arms and pulled her into a friendly hug "koyi baat nahi Ri…..i know you didn't mean to hurt you….."

Shree rolled his eyes "ab mujhe koyi yaad karega ya nahi?"

Riya looked up from the hug and dragged him close too….they shared a friendly sweet group hug…..laughter and giggles covering up Riya's pain and empathy for Anitha…..atleast for those few moments!

A few moments later, Arjun walks in to see the 3 friends at the cafeteria…..They seemed to be perfectly at ease with each other….mocking and grinning at each other…..

Arjun shook his head in total disbelief "You ppl never stop surprising me!"

He walked back to his cabin leaving them in their happy fun time!

After the short break, all get back to the case….

From Anitha's belongings, they get her medical file which had the gynaec's name and address….

Arjun and Riya go to meet the doctor instructing Shree to get Vivek's phone records…..also track his phone calls…Shree was also trying to get Shravan's past call records….

Rathod and Chotu go to meet Nisha, Anitha's close friend at office….

Nisha tells them that Anitha was a very good lady and she never used to complain about her married life to anyone but Nisha always saw pain in her eyes…..Once she had seen a small burn mark on Anitha's face and had tried to make her speak out but even then she had refused to tell anything…..But Nisha had guessed that Vivek had done that because he was always suspicious and insecure of his beautiful wife….He had an inferior feeling and believed that his wife was attracted to all handsome men who came her way!

Nisha said many things which put light into the dark areas of the case and Anitha's marriage!

Rathod is damn furious hearing all those "damn….mann kar raha hai ke uss jaanwar ko goliyon se udhaa dhoom…"

Chotu: haan sir, kitna tadhpaaya hai bechaari ko….aap kahe toh abhi arrest karke ETF le aatha hoom…

Rathod: nahi Chotu…..abhi nahi….usske khilaaf koyi sapoot nahi hai….lets wait for Rawte and Riya!

Meanwhile at the clinic….

"Mrs Anitha Sharma….haan meri hi patient hai….baat kya hai?? usse kuch…" her words trailed off abruptly sensing trouble in her patient's life….

Riya looked at Arjun before speaking up "Doctor, Anitha ka khatal hua hai…usi case ke silsiley mein aapse kuch poochna tha…"

The doctor was startled hearing that…she composes herself taking a few moments and then looks up "haan poochiye.."

Arjun: kya aap Anitha ke pati ko jaanthe hai?

Dr: haan….ek baar mili hoom….pichli baar jab Anitha pregnant hui, tab ….

[Both Arjun and Riya are shocked to hear that….they knew that the couple didn't have any other kids]

Riya: matlab yeh Anitha ka 1^st pregnancy nahi tha, huh??

Dr: [with a sad look] nahi…ek baar abortion kiya tha ussne….ya yun kahoom ke usske pati ne karwaaya tha….He didn't want the baby….

Riya: WHAT??? Aur aapne abortion karli??

Dr: aur kya karthi?? Jab husband aur wife saat aakhe kahe toh karna padega na?

Arjun: [taking over the questioning sensing Riya's inner turmoil] kya Anitha abortion ke liye apni marzi se aayi thi???

Dr: tab toh aisa hi laga tha par iss baar jab aayi toh laga ke she wants the baby par usske husband baby nahi chahtha….[stops midway] isiliye Anitha ne mujhse request kiya ke jab tak teen chaar mahiney nahi ho jaatha tab tak kisi se kuch na kahoom…..not even her husband….she nearly fell at my feet and pleaded and I had to give in!

A few moments of silence follows to take in all that the doctor voiced out….

Before leaving, Arjun shows Vivek's photo from his mobile to the doctor "kya yahi hai Anitha ka pati?"

The doctor looked closely at the photo and then nodded "haan yahi hai.."

He did that just to confirm that Anitha was innocent and didn't have any such affairs….

But Riya looked at Arjun totally stunned by that gesture of his….She couldn't believe that Arjun also suspected Anitha….She wasn't thinking logically from the point of view of the case but she was empathizing with a lady whom she placed at her own position and she was emotionally attached oblivious to herself….Emotions seemed to be ruling her mind and heart at that moment….
