Here I am after such a long tym...I was thinking of dropping writin dis story as i am not able 2 think wat 2 write anymore😕
Thanx for all ur comments and likes...otherwise i would have stopped writin a long tym ago. I can't promise dis update 2 be funny as I'm kinda depressed right nw so plz bear with me...ummm...i usually don't write romantic scenes but I gave a try on dis one...do tell me if its not right
Chapter 9
Khushi typed the last document for the day and heaved a sigh.The sun light that was earlier filtering through the windows was gradually weakening, giving the cubicle a haunted look. There was an eerie silence around, as her co-worker hadn't said a word to her for the last one hour. She was sure he'd dozed off already and went towards his area on tiptoes, so as to surprise him.
Just as she was within his earshot, ready to bring him to his senses, in her usual shrill voice, she found herself being pinned to the nearest desk, while a strong pair of held her in place.
"Mujhe uthane ki itni jaldi hai?" he said seriously, but she didn't miss the mirth on his eyes
"I thought you were sleeping and--" Khushi couldn't form her next words as his strong aftershave drowned her voice, along with her senses. She could now see the contours of his face in the diffused light.His eyes looked at her intensely, like never before, boring into her soul.She felt herself drowning into a deep abyss...They were so close now that she could see the slight scar in his eyebrow.That's when she realized their position and pushed him rather roughly...
"Whoa...do you work out or something?" Arnav said while rubbing his arm and diverting his eyes away from her...after their moment.
"I am thinking of going home in an hour" Khushi said while arranging the files on the desk, looking everywhere, except in the direction of her co-worker. Even thinking of him nowadays gave a weird feeling of butterflies roaming in the pit of her stomach...not to mention about her weird dreams...
"Uh..okay" he couldn't say much either...

After sometime...
Arnav couldn't hold her silence anymore and decided to cheer her up a bit...by asking about work
"So did you get the product research done by our departmental head?"
"Yeah"
"I'm glad! I had forgotten about that," Arnav said while he finally turned his chair to look at her...as if he hadn't did that all day long...
The tension in the air seemed to mellow down a little as Khushi finally broke into one of her smiles, which was enough to transport Arnav into another dimension...
"It feels weird if we're in the same room and behave like strangers" she mused
" Yeah...And it's definitely easier to talk to a computer screen. Even though you're a damn sight nicer to look at," Arnav replied, not noticing what he was saying..
Ohhh...not again...now he is flirting with her. Okay, she tried to play a trick on him as usual, but she couldn't deny his warm hold was nice...Oh god! She really needed to get a life...
To divert her mind, she gave a fake yawn, stretching her arms above her head giving a rather interesting view of her pale skin to her co-worker who was now trying hard to gaze at his screen.
"Not now, Arnav..." he kept chanting in his head
Suddenly the lights flickered for a few seconds and soon the whole office was plunged into darkness, only the monitor screens flickering in response, owing to their backup supply
"Yehi hona baki reh gaya tha" Arnav said nonchalantly as he switched on his mobile to life
"Arnav!...kahan ho tum...Answer me dammit!" Khushi screamed, sounding panicked
"Its okay, Khushi, its just a power cut" Arnav said sounding concerned."Now don't tell me you're afraid of the dark"
"Ummm...of cccooursssee nottt" Khushi said, shivering with fear
Suddenly there was a flash and a crash while the computer systems turned off...
"What was that?" Khushi was now visibly scared
"I think its a short circuit...aapna haath do" Arnav said while he blindly searched for Khushi's profile in the dark
When his hand collided with hers outstretched ones, he immediately pulled her closer. Khushi was now almost pressing herself onto him, which was making him highly uncomfortable. He could feel her warm, smooth waist...perhaps her top had ridden up... He thought immediately that it was a pity he couldn't see...then he hit himself mentally for ever thinking of it...
"Mujhe darr lag raha hai" Khushi was now burying her head in his shirt, close to tears
"Daro mat, darr ke aage badho...Kyunki darr ke aage jeet hai" he tried to joke, although sounding serious now
"You're such a---"
"What...aagey toh bolo"
"Chodo..." Khushi chuckled as she wrapped herself to him happily. Arnav was savouring the moment...baad mein kab aaye, kya pata...
"I can't believe you're 20 something and still afraid of the dark" Arnav said when they were settled comfortably on the floor. The office was quite empty now and it was no use searching for anyone till the power was restored.
"Its my only weakness...since I was a child. I used to sit on my dad's lap when there was a power cut. My mother and sister used to tease me to no end"
"So do you want to?"
"What?" Khushi sounded confused
"You know...Sit on my lap.."Arnav said, a sly grin on his face
"SIT on your lap, are you kidding me?" Khushi was startled and sat up suddenly, only to fall down directly...on his lap...of course..
"Oww...Aise girne ki kya zarurat thi...main toh waise hi bitha leta" Arnav said casually, but inside his breath had stopped...
"I'm too tired for any arguments now...let me sleep now" she said getting out of his lap and resting her head on his chest, sighing."Or it would be better if we could talk..."
"Yeah, your favourite hobby"
"Arnav, c'mon talk to me"
So Arnav began to talk about his Di, the first thing that came to his mind...He was thinking about how the power cut turned out to be a boon for him...that evening...
That night he couldn't sleep as he knew that something within him had changed...He had thought that love happens abruptly, with a bang, but he never knew love could creep within him so silently, without notice...
