Here is my interpretation for part 66.
The entire update can be described by just the word...DELUGE..When there is overwhelming flood it is called deluge.
When Aarti thought she was facing the worst of the situation, she was given a glimpse that the pit is bottomless.
"A man in love can do extraordinary things, I don't care if you're an angel, you're my angel, and I won't let you go"~ Alexandra Adornetto, Halo
Her Sunflower showed what she felt was nothing to what was coming up!
"Love is so unpredictable. That what makes it so great" ~ Sarah Dessen, This Lullaby
He lived upto his reputation, predictably unpredictable for her.
"Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love."
~ Mother Teresa
He strolled towards her smiling and enclosed her in a hug lifting her feet off the ground, right in front of his entire family.
"Action expresses priorities." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
His action brought in a deluge of emotions in her. This evoked a smile from the sales assistant, who admired the lovely, polite, petite lady before her, dressed in male attire. She thought the Lady deserved the Smiling Assasin! Her Prince Charming!!
Kushi was so glad that her smile at Arnav had him catch his breath. When he saw NK hugging Aarti a smirk appeared on his face. Both Kushi and Arnav were thrilled by the development.
Akash who had just entered the shop saw NK hugging a boyish man. He got worried that this would cause some trouble. As he approached he saw his Bhai and Bhabhi smiling, Payal staring with mouth agape, Dadi , Di and Mathe staring dumbfounded. As he watched, the boy freed himself and found to his relief that it was a girl!
Many questions cropped up in his mind.
It was a girl? Why was NK Bhai hugging a girl? What if her parents were with her, and they decided to confront NK? Akash looked around, ready to be ambushed by irate parents of the girl.More importantly, why were Bhai & Khushi Bhabi smiling?
Mami asked Payal who was Aarti? She continued saying it looked as if she was more than a friend of her NK bitwa. They were curious to know when he had met her. Anjali said it might be during Akash's wedding and might have attended it as she is Payal's friend.
Mami tells her mother-in-law that she is worried as to how NK's parents would take this news! Won't they be angry at her for not taking good care of him. Won't they be disappointed? She is worried about the repercussions it'll have with her relatives. Even Nani concurs with her. Mami continuing her outpour says won't they ask me why I am marrying off everyone. First Arnaw Bitwa, next Akash Bitwa and now NK Bitwa! They might question even as to what commission she got paid for these jobs.
"It doesn't matter who you are or what you look like, so long as somebody loves you."
~ Roald Dahl, The Witches
Nani consoled her saying the girl eventhough sporting a short hair is very pretty. NK loves her, Anjali chipped in. Payal asks but does she love him?
"Wo kare pyaar, aur hum khaye maar?", lamented Mamiji.
In the end Akash voiced out for the family as to who she was.
"Akash, Maasi, Nani, Di, Payal Bhabi, this is Aarti.", NK introduced her again.
All smiled at him and Aarti wanly.
"I am going to marry her...", he said, still smiling.
"He's not your prince charming if he doesn't make sure you know that you're his princess"
~ Demi Lovato
NK is making Aarti feel inundated by his love, intention and commitment.
Mami got worried. Her fear came true. Aarti shut her eyes. Looking at her Arnav thought, maybe she just wanted to hit NK, shove him down and stamp.
Then NK added for a good measure,
"...When she agrees to marry me."
"How do you spell 'love'?" - Piglet
"You don't spell it...you feel it." - Pooh"
~ A.A. Milne
Nani, Di, Payal, & Mami looked at each other.
"Hein?", asked Mami. "She hasn't agreed? Your parents..."
"They know about her.", NK smiled. "I told them."
Aarti stared at him, speechless.
"When you know my love, my love will warm you"
~ Ruby Dee
When Mami couldn't believe the response of NK's parents, he said they asked him to speed up his courting and get her to marry him soon as they wanted to enjoy their grandchildren!
Aarti stared at him as though he had grown two heads.
Mami heaved a sigh of relief.
Nani introduced herself and greeted Aarti. The rest followed suit.
Nani came up to Aarti, hugged her, and said, "I am Devyani Raizada, your Nani."
Aarti was lost for words. She thought the entire family had gone loony!
"I am Anjali, your Di." Anjali hugged her warmly.
Aarti stood rooted. Her senses were not responding. She couldn't imagine how to respond to such overtures. She couldn't understand why they placed such importance to hugging and welcoming an unknown person!
"Strangers are just family you have yet to come to know" ~ Mitch Albom
She who had been deprived warmth and love all her life by her father just couldn't fathom the depth of feelings of these people. She thought all these people had gone crazy for wanting to hug her and she was grateful that Arnav Singh Raizada and his brother Akash did not join this hugging spree!
"I am getting married this coming Thursday.", Anjali beamed. "I would like to invite you to the wedding." She opened her bag, took out a card, wrote 'Aartiji' on it, and handed it over to her. "Please come for the wedding and all the functions leading to it. It would be wonderful to enjoy it with Arnav's, Akash's, & NK Bhai's wives."
Aarti got a surprise of her life by being the recipient of invitation no.5, for the same wedding!
NK who knew this laughed looking at her stupefied expression.
She is acceptd by NK's family with open arms. First she is deluged with warmth and love, then she is flooded with invitations by almost each and every member of the family. Then she is flooded with their expectation of attending all the ceremonies!
"And I am your Maasi.", said Manorama Mami. "Your bootiphool Manorama Maasi. I hab (have) a husband too, Akash Bitwaa's phather (father), but he is hiding in his aaffice (office) now."
Listening to Mami's talk, Aarti envied Mama, wished she too was at her office. She would have loved the comfort of her office rather than her venture to buy sarees for her mother ending up in meeting the Raizada Parivaar!
"And I am Akash.", Akash smiled slightly. "Your brother. Jetji, in fact."
"And we are your sisters.", said Payal, pointing to Khushi & herself.
As Arnav and Kushi who knew what was going on in Aarti's mind, just pushed themselves into background, letting their family handle it.
Aarti looked around, feeling faint.
When she had walked into the shop, her family had comprised her mother, herself, & Gopi Kakka. By the time she looked at 4 sarees, she had a room full of relations?
"Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple" ~ Dr. Seuss
She looked around at all of them, all claiming to be her sisters, brothers, Maasi, & Nani.
She looked at the smiling sales assistant. The girl deserved a raise, Aarti thought. For not claiming Aarti as her long lost sister!
Aarti sighed. She had never known that shopping was so dangerous.
"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less." ~ Marie Curie
She had not even dreamt of being in such a situation any time! Even her wildest dreams had not prepared her for this assault. She who is used to fend for herself, defend her mother and herself against the assaults inflicted by her father is astounded by the love and affection showered on her that came in waves and deluged her senses. She was dumbfounded to see how well they accepted her without any question. For them, the choice of the son of the house was acceptable. If he was fine, so were they! She was inundated with the feelings of their acceptance.
Accordingly this chapter is termed as DELUGE..
That's it from me. Hope you enjoy this!
