Smita, 😊
Today's update begins with the preparations for the wedding and elaborates on the Search and Attraction.
With the dates of all the rituals of the low-key family only wedding decided, the main ceremony was slated to be held on the auspicious Friday evening - the day associated with Lakshmi. As per the Hindu belief on this day everyone, particularly the business community, worship Goddess Lakshmi to be blessed with wealth, prosperity and happiness aplenty. It was decided to formalize Payal's entry into Raizada Mansion as Grihalakshmi on this day. The menfolk of the Raizada Mansion decide to hire 2 small buses and 4 cars as the transportion for Sinha Parivar. NK volunteers to take the responsibility of hiring with such enthusiasm that surprises Arnav and Mamaji.
NK jumped in. "I will see to the transportation."
Arnav looked at him, surprised at his interest. "You will?"
"Of course, I will."
"OK.", Arnav drawled.
Once it is agreed upon, NK races out of the room to do the needful before he could be quizzed about his eagerness.
"Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind"
- William Shakeaspeare, A Midsummer Night's Dream
NK is troubled by what he saw and what his mind perceives. So Investigator NK now comes to the fore. He finds out the location of the Mishra Emergency Services, and enquires about the mechanic who attended the breakdown job. When asked whether the customer had any complaints, he told them it was just a visit to thank personally for the satisfactory job done and the payment of the bill. He is led to the mechanic Nitin, who was given a break by Aarti on that particular day. Nitin doesn't reveal the identity of the mechanic but helps out NK with his order of transport requirements. All this is noted by Aarti from her chamber. She is surprised and a bit apprehensive of NK's visit.
"What you seek is seeking you." - Rumi
She too, who has been disturbed by her thoughts and dreams on NK, takes up the order from Nitin and gives it personal attention. That is when she realizes who they are! The business tycoon, Arnav Singh Raizada, his wife Kushi whom he loved to distraction and his two brothers, Akash the bridegroom and NK, the Sunshine Boy! She wonders what NK stands for! She realizes Akash is getting married to Payal, a Lakshmi Nagar resident, who has a wheel-chair bound father, necessitating a roomy four-wheeler. She makes the necessary arrangements for Thursday and Friday.
We now come across the caring side of Aarti.
"In a child's eyes, a mother is a goddess. She can be glorious or terrible, benevolent or filled with wrath, but she commands love either way. I am convinced that this is the greatest power in the universe."
- N.K. Jemisin, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms
Whatever be the state of the mother a child always loves her. So too is Aarti. She just wants the ugly, nightmarish past to be just that THE PAST. She wants her mother to be the cheerful girl she was before her marriage. She tries to get her interested in the outside world.
"I like it when my mother smiles. And I especially like it when I make her smile."
- Adriana Trigiani, Viola in Reel Life
Her plan begins with the landscaping the garden. She succeeds in eliciting a faint but positive response from her mother. Her mother wants a bower of red roses that makes Aarti paint a picture of the finished garden. This brings out a slight smile on her mother's face perking up Aarti. Even a cup of sweetened tea brings in a film of tears and the bad memories of tight fisted Mohan Mishra even on household expenses. Aarti comforts her mother to look into the rosy future ahead free of Mohan Mishra and his miserly ways.
When Aarti reached the office, she comes across a harried looking Nitin who is multi tasking with the database and a handset frantically. When she comes to know that the Raizadas' need one more car and all their other vehicles are out on call she herself volunteers to do the job with her personal car.
"He drew me like gravity." -M.Leighton, For the Love of a Vampire
She gets ready in the Company Chauffer attire asking Nitin to get the car decorated. Nitin was not surprised as true to her stature of being a Corporate leader, she never hesitated to chip in, even menial jobs, earning the love and respect of her employees and feels privileged to be working under her.
"Ji.", Nitin smiled, not at all surprised. He had seen his boss empty dustbins, crawl under cars to be repaired, string flowers & fix balloons on vehicles that were to be rented out for weddings & parties, serve as a driver in the case of emergencies, slog night & day to manage the chain of outlets the company ran...She was a walking wonder. He was proud to work for Aarti Mishra.
She camouflaged herself with a loose jacket and a tilted cap to pass off as a male. This she had done many a time but this time it was different. She didn't want NK to see her eyes and recognize.
"She had met many men in the course of her work. Heck, she worked with men all day. No one had made her heart beat faster. No one's touch had sent her spine tingling, ever. She had never taken a second look at any man. No man had ever troubled her peace. What was happening to her?"
She too was feeling Kuch Kuch Hota He.
When she checked in the mirror she remembered with bitterness all the punishments she had to bear from her father for being born as a girl. She was brought up to behave like a man. She never knew how to be a woman! But still...
"Polar north can't get away from a magnet; the magnet finds it, no matter what."
- Jodi Picoult Handle With Care
Putting all her bitter thoughts into the backburner, holding her head high, she readied herself to tackle the task ahead.
Two thoughts which imply the same!!!!!
"Ab isse kaa hui gawa? Maasi & bhanja, both are mad!", Mamaji declared, laughing. "Some people have a bee in their bonnet. These two have an entire beehive there!"
"Aarti, standing in her office upstairs, looked with trepidation at NK talking to Nitin downstairs. Dressed in a black T-shirt and black jeans, a yellow jacket, and black & yellow sneakers, he looked like a sunflower. Or a bee. She sighed. Not satisfied with stealing her sleep for the past two days, he had turned up at her office too? She had hoped she would never see him again!"
If two people have to compare NK with a bee then is it true? 😲
But our NK babua is full of honey not stings!!!! 😊
Pick of the Day
"Dressed in a black T-shirt and black jeans, a yellow jacket, and black & yellow sneakers, he looked like a sunflower."
Why did Aarti feel like comparing NK with sunflower?🤔
The sunflower stands for constancy and shows the warmth of the sunshine. It sure banishes those winter blues with it's bright, sunny appeal.😊
Is the impression she had of NK plain, honest and upright, like the broad-faced sunflower? 😲
"Turn your face to the sun and the shadows follow behind you."
~ Maori Proverb"
She was seeking the sun to leave the shadows that lurked her past behind.⭐️
Is NK that sun in her mind that led her to compare him with sunflower?😉
That's it for today. Hope you enjoyed it.
Not just enjoyed it, but Loved it!Smita, 😊
