I wrote this cuz throughout the track, I couldn't help but wonder what happened to the Arnav that could sense his wife's smallest discomfort, but had failed to recognise such heights of insecurity and uneasiness from her...The ASR with that shatir business wala dimaag...
PART II
Arnav wasn't sure if he had heard her right. He was just rooted to the ground as he was trying to comprehend what had happened. Had she just said she was afraid of losing him? He felt puzzled, as he tried to put a finger on what had happened in the last few days that could make her feel that way...It took not more than a few seconds to realize the answer! DAMMIT! HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN SO STUPID AND NOT SEE THE OBVIOUS! He cursed himself, all of Khushi's strange behaviour seemed to make sense. He had initially dismissed it as her 'paagalpan' but now realized it was much much more than that...
The way her eyes widened when Mamiji had talked about Arnav having a son...Her beat-around-the-bush conversation that had ended with jalebis...Her hiding in the cupboard...The ridiculous hypnotism game...Her accompanying Sheetal everywhere AND asking Sheetal to stay right there...The F*ing DNA test... And her sudden loss of interest in the BB game... And how she'd been staring at him giving Aarav a hug...
Bloody Hell! He realized what it would have looked like to someone watching from the outside... Oh Shit!
He flew downstairs, to talk things out with her.
Khushi went to the kitchen, got out a plate and put a meagre amount of food in that. She took it to the table and set it in front of her. Again, she did not want to eat. She simply stared at her food. Frustrated, she pushed aside the plate and got up. She turned around exasperatedly and crashed into his all too familiar chest. She gulped.
"W-Wo...I was just going to get water." she lied again.
"Khushi, water is RIGHT THERE on the table." He said flatly.
"Oh. I-I didn't see." She mumbled, supressing a sigh. Now she would have to force the food down her throat, when all she wanted to do was go die somewhere.
She sat down again, and began to eat. The difficulty she was having while eating did not go unnoticed by Arnav. He sighed, and sat in the chair next to her. He caught hold of her hand, which was busy stuffing food inside her mouth which was in turn chewing away rapidly, with difficulty. She stopped chewing when she felt his hand. Gathering her thoughts once more, she looked at him and began chewing very slowly and gulped it down.
"Khushi, do you want to say something to me?" he asked, not taking his eyes off her, or even blinking.
Khushi shook her head. He inched closer to her, his eyes having a soft, warm glow in them. "Are you sure?"
Khushi nodded once. His hands cupped her face tenderly. "Mrs Raizada, don't you know you can't lie to me?"
Khushi looked away, that look of misery back in her eyes. "Khushi, please don't do this to me. And don't ever say that!"
She looked at him taken aback, her eyes questioning him. "Don't ever say that you would lose me...I would never leave you."
Khushi's mind filled with all those images that had been haunting her...Aarav's striking similarities and mannerisms, Arnav's ease with Sheetal and that picture of 'perfect family'. Her eyes filled with tears again.
Arnav saw her eyes moisten, but he knew they weren't tears of happiness that had been caused by what he had just said. The pain and sadness was evident in her tears as she closed her eyes to hide them from him.
"And THIS is what I was talking about...Don't do this to me Khushi." He whispered.
Her eyes fluttered open, as the traitor tears escaped. "I don't want you to hide anything from me Khushi...Not even your pain and tears..." He said, kissing away the tears that had managed to escape.
Arnav did not press the matter further, because he knew she wasn't comfortable talking about it. He hugged her. As soon as she felt his warmth, she let the tears flow. "Arnavji, I-I did not get the DNA Test done because I was suspicious of you, I-I was afraid that i-if Aarav turned out to b-be y-your son, I-I might lose you... Please believe me? I am sorry..." she sobbed. "I tried asking you but-"
"But you somehow ended up asking about jalebis? yeah, I know." he said, pattin her head, and brushing his fingers through her hair comfortingly.
"I am sorry..." she whispered again.
"It's over now. But Khushi, just understand one thing. No one means more than you to me in life. Never has and never will. My past is just that...PAST. Please forget about it Khushi. And let me make another thing clear." he said, as he leaned down and kissed her lips. "My first-born will always be OUR child."
Khushi blushed, and finally hugged back Arnav. As he picked her up, she mumbled. "Arnavji, now I am really hungry."
Arnav sighed in mock exasperation. "Another romantic moment ruined by Mrs Raizada."
Khushi grimaced and said, "Well, Mr Raizada. A hungry and tired person cannot be romantic! I am feeling weak, and you expect romance? You tell me, doesn't romance require energy, hm?"
Arnav smirked, and Khushi blushed as she realized how that had sounded. "Wo-I-I mean..."
Arnav chuckled softly. "Get your energy fast and come with me Mrs Raizada. I am actually beginning to love kids, and want one for myself!"
