PART 26
'Whoa, how does this girl managed to do all this in just 2 hrs?' that was the first thought that came to sujal's mind when he saw the tons of bags around Kashish who was sitting in a corner table. She had a coke in one hand and a half eaten sandwich on the other.
"Wah wah kya baat hain madam. Mujhe salt ki coffee dekar madam yahaan pe araam se baitkar khana ka rahi hain. Itna bhi tameez nahi thi app mere liye bhi lunch order kare. What a well mannered girl."
He said sarcastically while taking a seat next to hers. She just rolled her eyes and coolly continued eating not bothering to say anything to his sarcastic comments. She just wanted to get out there as soon as possible.
"where is ur stuff" she asked while looking both his hands.
'Bhaago. Warna aaj to mar gaya' he thought .
"wohh .. actually.. u know.. I didn't buy anything. There where so many. I couldn't decide." he whispered lowering his head.
"U didn't buy anything? What the heck r u a five year old? I……."
She stopped in the middle and turns around to catch her breath and tries to control her rising temper. If she didn't, she was going to create a scene in front the public. She wasn't like that. This guy was definitely trying getting into her nerves. If you give him an inch, he will take a mile!!!! The best way was to just ignore him and pretend that u r not aware of anything.
Kash: Fine. Let's go"
Sujal: (surprisingly) Where??
Kash: (with a someone-save-me look) to the STORE. To buy the rest of the stuff.
She said half yelling, throwing her hands up in the air.

"Don't u think strawberry will be far better choice" Sujal voice was muffled as he was licking a sample of the strawberry cake. But he stopped chewing and swallowed whatever was on his mouth when he saw the venomous shot that Kashish gave him. They were now buying the birthday cake. Whatever cake kash would select, Sujal kept refusing it. Either he didn't like the flavour or the icing on it. This was happening 4 the past three hours for almost all the stuff they bought. He wouldn't just agree on anything wid her. They finally confirmed on the chocolate cake that Kash chose after a huge debate between them and the gal @ the store were decorating it. The girl was looking pale after being caught between the two for almost an hour because she had to keep taking back and putting back different cakes. Even the owner was now furious over there disagreement that he wanted them out of his store ASAP and gave them a 50% discount.
Sujal: Don't look at me like that. It was only a suggestion. Don't blame for wanting a perfect birthday cake 4 my baby sis.
Kash: well then why didn't u just buy the damn thing before and saved me the trouble.
Oh god wasn't she finally losing it.
Sujal: I was confused between vanilla and chocolate because obviously I never bought a birthday cake before. It's not exactly my job u know. A woman does all these things.
Kash: no it's not. We r not ur slave. And Please for god sake stop eating that cake for free. If u want one, buy one.
Sujal: hey she gave it to me.
Kashish: That was before when they gave it to us to decide which flavour u want. Not after u buy the stuff moron.
She walked out of the store taking the packet from the girl's hand leaving him behind her to pay the bill. She walked fast to the parking lot and called a cab. She didn't even glanced back before getting into the cab.

She could see his black Mustang on the parkway as she paid the taxi diver. He got there before her and she didn't need to guess that on what speed he was driving. She went inside and saw him already on work. He had unloaded everything from the car and had started decorating. He glanced at the door when he heard it open and saw her coming in. There eyes locked for a minute before he shifted his head back to whatever he was doing. She could see the tension nd seriousness in his face. May be a bit anger. 'What the heck had she done to him that he was mad at her? She wasn't the one who started the arguments at the store. It was him. She should be the one who was supposed to be angry. Why was he giving her the attitude? What ever why do I care.' She shrugged her shoulders and joined him the work. Even though they were working together they didn't utter a word. They only talked if they wanted something and the other had it. The whole afternoon and evening passed away this way. They took some extra time for the shopping but it was compensated by their fast and quite work at the house. Now they had some free time on their hands so they could take time to get ready to welcome their friends who were supposed to come soon.

Late evening
Kripa came in with Priya after the long day she had. Priya was dragging her all the time from one store to another in order to keep her busy. Kripa would've enjoyed the shopping and outing if she wasn't so annoyed and disappointed that no one remembered her birthday. That's why she had to pinch herself when went to her house seeing it fully decorated with ribbons and in the middle written 'Happy Birthday Krips' and all her friends including her family her mother, Sujal, Kashish and Priya wishing her. They had shocked her with a surprise birthday party. She ran to them and hugged her family so tight that her brother jokingly said he was gasping 4 air. This was one birthday she would never forget.

At night
Sujal was tossing and turning in his bed for the past one hour. He just couldn't sleep after the long tiring day he had. He couldn't believe that he was losing sleep because of a girl. More precisely Kashish. "Man what an attitude she had. She had the nerve to talk back to me which most of the girls didn't even dare to." But he had to admit that was one of the thing that he like abt her. She was never intimidated by him. She always spoke whatever was in her mind so it was clean like pure water. That was one of the reason he was attracted to her. 'Attraction!!!! Wait a minute that's not possible. He can't be attracted to her. Maybe a bit. Well it wasn't my fault that she's drop-dead gorgeous especially when she wore that black sari, her curled hair open, her hand full of coloured bangles at the party. She looked like a goddess coming down to earth. He was frozen, his eyes stuck on her the minute he saw her. He felt like his heart was skipping beat, forgetting to breathe. It took him some time to become normal again. He was sure that no one had looked this beautiful ever in a saree. Any one could've easily said that he was watching more like staring at her the whole time at the party. Some time it was her hair that she was trying to hold back or pallu which kept falling. He could never forget that sight. He didn't know what he was feeling but he knew he never felt like this BEFORE.
Weeks passed fast. Summer was on full swing. Students were preparing 4 the exams that were approaching very fast. Kashish was no exception from them. Kash and Priya spend most of their time wid different study groups. Due to her extremely busy schedule she saw the less of Garewals. Even though Veena complained abt it, she understood her circumstances. She didn't see much of Sujal either, but Priya gave constant updates abt him. They weren't close like they used be nd plus she didn't have a single class with him. That only increased the distance. She did know that something was going on wid him. She couldn't exactly ignore the whisperings and gossip that were doing the rounds on the campus that his recent girlfriend Soniya had dumped him. The reason that it was such news that it was the first time Sujal Garewal was dumped BY a girl and that too when everyone thought that they were getting serious. Even though the reason 4 the break up is still unclear the rumours are that he was cheating on her or he was getting cold feet. Kashish didn't know how much of it was true but she did fell sorry for him. Even Priya or Kripa couldn't get much info as he wasn't telling anyone what exactly went wrong. So they too believed the he-got-cold-feet story which wasn't much surprising. But something in her guts told her that it wasn't the truth. There was something else. She could see it in his eyes whenever she caught glimpse of him at the campus. He face was rough, upset and his eyes were thirsting for some decent sleep. It looked like the break-up had hit him pretty badly. 'Was there any chance that he was in love wid that girl' she felt like crying at the thought. Why couldn't she bear that thought? But that was the only thing that made sense to her seeing him. She often saw him in the library, btw the book shelves. She wanted to go to him and ask him what was wrong. She wanted their friendship btw them like it used to be. She now knew how much she missed the teasing, energetic, vibrant, & naughty Sujal. She decided she would talk to him as soon as they were free from this exams.
Sujal was now getting pissed because he couldn't find the book he was looking in the library. He needed it to finish his paper which was due the next day. He finally caught hold of it and was walking back to the quiet study are when he felt that someone was watching him. He tilted his head and saw Kashish watching him. She was with some of her friends studying 4 the exam. He watched a shade of red rising in her cheeks when she was caught staring at him. "God, doesn't she look beautiful in that blue top and skirt" he thought as he waved her and gave her faint smile. She smiled and waved back trying her best to hide the embarrassment. He didn't want to embarrass her more in front of her friends by going up to her. So he walked back to where he was going but he didn't miss the disappointed look in her face as if she expected him to come to her. He couldn't go to her now. He wasn't in the mood. He started coming to library to avoid his friends and their grilling questions abt his break up wid Soniya. He couldn't blame their curiosity because Soniya was one of the beautiful girls on campus and every man tried their luck on her. But she rejected all. So it was surprising went she went out wid Sujal. He also wanted to avoid people's piercing gaze like he had done something real bad. Ya well he did. But they won't understand it in the right way like Soniya did. He felt a pang of guilt when he remembered her. Like people thought, he wasn't aloof because his ego was hurt when she broke up with him. It was the truth that it was the first time that a girl broke up wid him. It usually was the other way around. That wasn't what bothered him. When she told him that it was best to stop it, he did feel angry. But when she made him realise the truth that he didn't had any feelings for her, it was pointless to continue the relationship. He argued that it wasn't true. But the biggest blow he got was when she said that he was in love with someone else. He got real mad and yelled at her for sometime but then he calmed down after a while. Because he knew it was true. He was in Love. She said that he wasn't aware of it yet but she was glad she did. But that wasn't the main reason. His heart winced when he thought abt it. She got to know the truth somehow. She refused to tell him how but she said "I know it's hard even though that's not who u are any more. But I can't live wid it. I'm sorry Sujal." He didn't say anything any more and just left her house. If she couldn't accept who he was wid his flaws there was no point in continuing the relationship. But now he wasn't mad at her anymore. He now respected her more. She promised him that she wouldn't tell any one abt the real reason for the break-up. She didn't even press him to tell the name of the other girl. She said she would like to be friends wid him. He never expected Soniya to be so matured. He felt bad for hurting her like that. He was completely wrong abt her. But then again he always was. It was time to change. Trying to brush off all those thoughts, he started concentrating on finishing his paper.
