Chapter 10

Sharon's answer was totally unexpected. Looking at her, he still felt that she was somehow lying. Anyway, if she was planning to patch up with him, it was wrong on his part to mingle with her so much.

He was not intruding in her personal life though, was he? Swayam could not divert his mind from this question. He decided to leave the rehearsal hall.

"I'll go." he said.

"Go where?"

"Home. Dadi must be waiting."

"You didn't inform her?" Sharon asked.

"I did. But she usually waits for me... She doesn't have dinner without me and it is better if I go right now."

"Ok.. Then I'll leave too" Sharon was expecting him to drop her. He didn't do anything of that kind. Instead, he pretended as if she didn't exist. He was behaving coldly with her, again. Sharon came to this conclusion and she hated his cold behavior. He couldn't possibly behave in this way with her. Especially now, since he was her assistant.

Thankfully, she had her car. She didn't know how he was going to go. She didn't bother to ask him, but eventually she had to. Because she had her own conscience, which ordered her to ask him.

"How are you going to go home?" she asked.

He didn't respond.

"I asked something..."

He looked at her and gave a cold stare.

"I asked something!!" she said, this time more loudly, that he almost got frightened.

"I heard you. No need to scream." he said in an impassive way.

"Then where is the answer?"

"You need not know the answer. I am your assistant, nothing else. So please, keep your questions limited."

"Plus, how does it even matter to you? Even if I have a car, a scooter, if I go by a taxi, auto? How does it even matter to you?"

How dare he. Sharon thought. But she didn't want to argue.

"Listen, I just asked because..."

By the time, they had reached the parking lot.Swayam took a bunch of keys from his pocket and walked towards a silver coloured zen.

Sharon saw this and pretended as if she didn't care. Sharon walked towards her car, opened the door and sped off in a huff. Before she could, Swayam's car zoomed by.

Sharon was hating his behavior. He had totally gathered control over her mind. All she could do was , figure out the reason. Why was he behaving with her in such a cold way? He was alright until he asked that question. Precisely, he was alright until she answered that question. Maybe he had expected her answer to be a no. She didn't know herself the reason for answering a yes. Maybe she should have said a no. She didn't want a patch up with Rey. But then, why did she say that she wanted it to Swayam? To make him feel jealous? She was confused.

Jealous? Why would he feel jealous? As a matter of fact, why did she want him to feel jealous? Did she like him? Or something more than that? Had she started loving him?

Loving? Really? No. She loved Rey.There was a tinge of doubt even in this. Swayam was only her assistant. Nothing else. But then, why did she do that? Okay. She didn't love him. Huh!!

Maybe...maybe she had started developing feelings, but love? No. She didn't love him. She kind of liked him. She only liked him.

She came to a conslusion that she only liked Swayam. She didn't love him. Liking was fine but loving was too much and she didn't love him. And how did this liking develop? Her conscience asked her. How can someone affect Sharon Rai Prakash so much?

With this unanswered question in her mind, she reached her place. She didn't have her dinner despite constant pleadings from her mother. She went into her room and slept with a hope that with the onset of the morning, there would be a change, in her thinking process that would bring her out of the confusion.

Swayam was not less confused. Somewhere or the other, he had begun falling for her. Every time he thought about it, it would make him more worried. He had to remind himself that she was his best friend's love interest, and now her assistant. Plus, he was a not a very idealistic person. He did not believe in "love at first sight" or "love in such a short while"...But he was beginning to fall for her. Somewhere he knew that this was the truth. But he was not willing to accept it. He didn't want to focus on her. He was only her assistant and could not be anything else. He was ignoring her because he was tired of listening to her constant blabbering and he was not used to firings. But that was eariler. Over a period of time, this ignoring thing started becoming unbearable and he thought of talking to her again. Even that day in the party, he spoke to her only because he thought that she needed someone. Nothing else. Falling for her was an entirely separtate thing and it was necessary for him to divert his mind from her.

Yes. He felt bad when she said that she wanted a patch up.

Yes. He was hurt when he saw her with Rey.

Yes. He felt bad when he saw her crying that day after her break up.

All this was because she affected her. Like no other girl did. She managed to enter his

heart, which earlier was a "girls prohibited area". He couldn't deny it. But somehow he could divert himself. That was possible.

It was 7.30 am. Swayam woke up late that day. He checked his cell phone aimlessly but discovered that he had three new messages and ten missed calls. Oh yeah. His phone was on silent.

He was expecting one message from Sharon but to no avail. She had not messaged him. Rey had. He read one of the messages.

"What did she say?"

Swayam's thumb went up to that "reply tab" on his touch screen phone. With his mind still wandering off in another direction, he started typing on the QWERTY keypad.

"She said..."

He was about to type yes when a wicked thought struck him. The devilish swayam commanded him to add a "no" there. But the angelic Swayam entered the scene and adviced him not to do so. Rey was his best friend. He could not do this to him. Sharon still needed him a lot. Plus, did Swayam know if Sharon liked him too? Maybe she did. But he was not sure. There was absolutely no probability of her liking him because her heart was already inclined towards Rey. So no chance for that. Hesitantly, he typed "yes" and pressed the send button.

There was no doubt that Rey was ecstatic at that moment. He was really very happy and without further ado, he decided to ask Sharon that very day.

Sharon had slept with a hope that her confusions would get cleared. The first few hours of the morning had been fine and she was hoping that the rest of the day would go good too. Particularly because she had made up her mind. Realization had eventually dawned upon her. And she was sure of her decision. She did not have second thoughts about it. It was her personal life. And her relation with Rey was at stake. But she knew what to do. She was firm of her decision and she was not intended on changing it.

She reached the college and while walking in the corridor, her hand brushed past someone's. She instantly recognized it. It was Swayam. This feeling was familiar and it had happened many a times before. Sharon was about to stop him because she wanted to talk to him about something but he didn't turn around. An expectant Sharon was once again crushed.

"I'll never be able to come in terms with my feelings for you Swayam" she mentally remarked.

"Sharon" someone called out to her. No it was not Swayam. Swayam's voice was not like that. She wanted to hear him say her name. It was not him. It was someone else. Rey.

She turned to look towards the source of the voice.

Rey walked towards her with a firm decision of getting back.

"I wanted to talk to you." He said.

"Yeah. Go on." she said.

"I miss you Sharon. Can we please throw all the misunderstandings, fights, tiffs in the dustbin? I love you Sharon. I really love you and I miss you. I shouldn't have snapped at you that day. I am sorry. Please can we get back together?"

He looked really sorry. She could see it.She very clearly knew what she had to say. She neither wanted to hurt Swayam, nor Rey. This was her own decision and she was firm this time.

"Rey..." she began.
