Chapter 9Sharon felt uncomfortable there. She was continuously staring at Rey and all she was instantly reminded of vague yet strong memories. The tiffs they had, the secrets they shared, every single memory flashed in front of her eyes. Rey had been a part of her life and she missed him. She was still confused about asking him again. When she had second thoughts on this, her mind got easily diverted towards Swayam. Somehow she felt that Swayam would feel bad about this. Hence without causing much inconvenience, she shoved this decision off her mind. But there was one thing because of which she was feeling uncomfortable- Rey's presence. She decided to go from there.
"Swayam its 5.45...come at 6...in the rehearsal hall...please don't be late." Sharon said.
"Ok" It was not like Swayam didn't sense her problem. He did. But he didn't say anything to her. In a way, he thought, that it was good that Sharon was kind of avoiding Rey. It was good for her.
Rey had been observing Sharon spend time with Swayam in that half an hour. It was not normal for him, but he thought about Swayam hooking up with her. He felt that Swayam and Sharon liked each other. And since, according to him, Sharon liked Swayam, she broke up with Rey only because of this. Maybe she was searching for a right opportunity. And this was a great one. These kinds of thoughts filled Rey's empty mind but he didn't think much about it since he felt that Sharon had known Swayam for only ten days and Rey for 10 years. So it was only a waste of time to think about Sharon dating Swayam.
It was not that Rey was not feeling empty. He was and he very well understood that Sharon was not over possessive. She was not even possessive. He had misunderstood her and he needed to talk to her and patch up with her. He knew that she would be feeling the same. But before that, he wanted to talk to Swayam.
After Sharon left the canteen, Rey came and sat near Swayam.
"Hey bro, why did khushboo ma'am call you?" he said.
"She made me the ACS..." Swayam said and gave a light smile.
"Swayam" he began,
"Yes?" Swayam was surprised at this behavior of his but he remained quiet and thought that it was something important.
"I wanted a favour from you"
"What favour?" Swayam looked up.
"Swayam I was thinking...actually I am not thinking...I am sure of my decision...I want to talk to Sharon and patch up with her...I want to clear the misunderstanding and now I know that she is not over possessive..As a matter of fact, she is not even possessive about me..I was thinking too much...And I shouldn't have done that...It's normal for a girl or a boy to feel insecure when someone else gets close with his or her better half." Rey said. Swayam knew that this would happen. He knew about Rey but he didn't want Sharon to feel the same.
"So what do you want me to do?" Swayam asked.
"Ask Sharon"
"Ask her what?"
"If she wants the same or not. I mean if she wants a patch up with me or not. Now since you are the ACS...you'll be spending time with her..." Rey said.
This was exactly what Swayam was scared of. He didn't want Sharon to feel the same. He felt like protecting her because he knew that she had been through emotional turmoils. Rey was not the right guy for her. He knew this from the very beginning but he decided to help his best friend. He was not interested in Rey's relationship with Sharon but he was interested in what Sharon felt about it. Hence he decided to talk to Sharon.
"Ok fine" Swayam smiled and checked his mobile.
It was 6.10 and 6 missed calls from Sharon.
"Crap" he muttered. "I got to go Rey...I'll do your work...Bye"
"Bye" Rey said.
Before he could leave the canteen, an exasperated Sharon entered it searching for her ACS i.e Swayam.
"I am dead" Swayam mumbled under his breath.
Sharon saw Rey sitting next to him and she gave him a helpless look. As a matter of fact she felt helpless on looking at him. She saw Swayam with an anger filled expression and moved huffily out of the canteen, expecting Swayam to follow her.
Swayam followed her and met her in the rehearsal hall. First of all, he apologized for being late to which Sharon didn't reply.
"We have to submit a report by tomorrow morning" This was all she said and continued doing her work.
"Tomorrow morning?" Swayam was shocked.
"Yes. Which means we'll have to sit here for two more hours." Sharon was not in a mood for arguing.
"I sleep at 10!!"
"So? You have a treatment befor that? Are you a model that you have to do each and every thing on time? Will the world end if you shift your schedule?" She spoke sarcastically.
"Fine" Having nothing else to say, Swayam decided to end the talk and concentrate on the work.
For the next two hours, both of them worked meticulously and managed to complete the report on time. At the same time, Swayam remembered about his chat with Rey. He decided to talk to Sharon about it and he hoped that she wasn't feeeling the same.
Straightforward question. He thought.
"Sharon, are you missing Rey?" he asked.
Sharon looked at him to analyze his thoughts. Why was he asking about it? Yes she did but she was still confused about the patch up.
"That's none of your business" she said rudely.
"It is..Rey is my best friend and you are my..." Swayam stopped.
"I am your what?"
"...my boss...so i want to know what the truth is..."
Sharon didn't want to tell it to Swayam. But somehow she blurted the truth to him.
"Yes I do miss him" she said She wanted to give a straight answer.
Ok. Swayam thought in mind. Just because she misses him, doesn't mean that she wants to patch up with him. She is his best friend. And missing a best friend is obvious. Swayam assured himself.
He was right. Sharon was confused about patching up. But she didn't say this to Swayam.
"Do you want to talk to him about patching up...You want a patch up?" He asked her expecting a reply which he wanted to hear.
Sharon thought for a moment. Then she said something which was totally unexpected.
"Yes...I want to talk to him. I want a patch up" she seemed unsure while saying this. But she said it anyway...
Swayam was shocked too. He was not expecting this but he decided to confirm it again.
"Are you sure?"
Sharon thought again, escaped his glance and hesitantly nodded.
"Ok then" Swayam was a bit disheartened. Sharon was disturbed too. Her conscience persuaded her to say that. But she was not going to take her words back.
Swayam knew that he could not lie to Rey about this. He cared for his best friend. Though he had kind of started liking Sharon, he was upset that she wanted the same. Earlier, he thought that she had started liking him too but he was wrong. He decided to tell this to Rey as soon as possible.
