Hi Z,

I just read Destroyed and Unconditional back to back, and I just can't seem to stomach the ending. I read on until the end hoping to see justice done for Khushi, because what Arnav did to her should never happen to another human being, ever. And to see that in the end, he almost gets off scot free? I can't not say what's on my mind.

Arnav was cruel to her, beyond cruel, he was evil personified in destroyed. He marries an innocent girl from a small village, cuts her ties off with her family, rapes her repeatedly, and then forces an abortion as well as a hysterectomy on her. He was sadistic, he took away even the little things that made her happy. And just because he repented in unconditional does not mean he doesn't deserve to go to jail for his crimes, doesn't mean Khushi should protect him from her family, doesn't mean his family shouldn't have done what's right, and gotten him arrested.

You were writing about a very sensitive issue, marital rape isn't recognized as a crime by many people in India, and when you write about topics like these, care needs to be taken to show what's right. Yes, you showed that what he did was wrong, but he does get away with it in the end, doesn't he?

I would have been content to see that at least Khushi isn't in the right frame of mind, that she somehow shunned the past, and doesn't remember anything. That the abuse had affected her so much so that she doesn't know what was real and what wasn't, but you said in your note that according to you she remembers, and chooses to forgive him anyway. And even if she was mentally unbalanced, what about Anjali? Aman? And the rest of the family? How can they let him get away with it?

For some crimes, regret isn't enough, redemption isn't possible. Arnav should have gone to jail, or in the least, Khushi should have walked away.

First, i want to say that you are an amazing writer. I am a newbie and just read destroyed and unconditional back to back. I totally agree with what Ridz says here.I wasn't able to stomach the ending. As Ridz says for some crimes redemption isn't possible. And he starts feeling guilty because she is innocent..what if that was not the case?
I would have liked Arnav to suffer in some way..jail, penniless, and his family to disown him..some sort of justice for what Khushi went through.

OH.EMM.GEE.
I swear my Mummy's gonna title me as complete crazy if she finds me here in my room, 6 in the morning, crying like a helpless idiot and smiling wide at how beautiful this story was.

Really got no words to describe this SS, its one of a kind. And I have never read anything like this before..you really did a great job at portraying every character...I would say I loved Arnav in this, I know, weird me, but I just do...his redemption was amazingly shown and so was the character of Khushi.

Please do write more :D

Take care,
Vani
