Chapter – 10
"So, how did it go?", Geet asked Meera as she stepped in.
"It went very well Geet! His parents seem to like me a lot. Infact, they want to meet me again day after tomorrow. I invited them for lunch.", Meera chirped happily.
"That's great news!", Geet said. She was very happy for her best friend. "Just wait and watch, a few more days and soon they'll want to get the both of you engaged."
"Tumhare muh mein ghee shakar.", Meera said hugging her from behind.
" Waise, Yash wanted me to meet his cousin brother, whom he happens to be very close to, but unfortunately he couldn't make it because he was held up at work." Meera said sleepily.
"Is that so?", Geet said, while setting the cushions on the couch. "Anyway, I am sure you'll meet him sooner or later."
" Meera, it's 10:00 pm now. I am sure that you're feeling tired. Freshen up and go to sleep.", Geet said, patting her head.
"Umm..", Meera mumbled and made her way to her room. "Good night!".
"Good night! Sleep well.", Geet said and switched off the light.
"Babaji, I hope everything goes well for Meera. Please make sure she gets all the happiness that she deserves. And tomorrow happens to be my second day at work! I hope I don't mess up.", Geet prayed while getting into bed.

"I am sorry I couldn't make it. I was stuck at an important meeting.", Maan said while removing his waist coat.
He listened to what the other person said with a smile.
"Okay, I promise I'll come the next time.", he said reassuringly. " Yes, pakka promise!", he chuckled while removing his tie with one hand.
"Good night!", he said and hung up.
"Who was it Maan beta?", Daadi asked, while coming into his bedroom.
"Bro ka phone tha daadima.", he said, while picking up a change of clothes from the cupboard. "He was very angry that I didn't see him today. Issiliye use mana raha tha."
"Oh! Well just make sure that you meet him the next time. Warna tum toh uska gussa toh jaanthe ho. Bilkul tumpe gaya hai.", Daadi teased.
"Daadi!", Maan exclaimed.
"Theek hai, theek hai. Anyway, good night bte!", she wished him.
"Good night Daadi!", Maan said and made his way to the wash room to freshen up.

"I better get going Meera. It's eight already. See you in the evening." Geet said while rushing outside.
"Bye! Have a good day!", Meera said, waving.
"You too! All the best for your new project.", Geet yelled out.
"Ab tumne keh diya hai, toh obviously it'll go well.", Meera said to herself and smiled.

"Good morning ma'am!", the staff who passed by wished her.
"Good morning!", she wished them back with a pleasant smile.
Geet made her way to her cabin and logged onto her laptop. She had gotten a few important mails that she had to check and reply to. While checking a mail, her phone rang.
"Good morning Ms. Geet!", Ankita (Mr. Chopra's secretary) wished.
"Good morning Ankita!"
"Ma'am, Mr. Chopra would like to see you at around 9:30 a.m. to discuss about the personnel for the new project.", she informed her.
"Sure thing, thanks for letting me know.", Geet said while jotting it down on her note pad to make sure that she didn't forget.
After hanging up, she went through a few more mails. By the time she finished, it was almost 9:30. "I better get going.", she muttered and made her way to Mr. Chopra's cabin.
They greeted each other and discussed about the new project and the candidates who had been chosen to handle it. Mr. Chopra was very pleased with Geet's selection.
"Good job Ms. Geet. I am very happy with your selection." , he said.
"Thank you Mr. Chopra.", Geet said.
"You may go now and I'll inform you if anything else needs to be looked into."
"Ok Mr. Chopra.", Geet said and went out.

"Hello Mr. Khurana!", Mr. Chopra greeted, while shaking hands with him.
"Hello Mr. Chopra.", Maan said while taking a seat.
"What brings you here?", Mr. Chopra asked.
"KC has decided to throw a party in order to celebrate the finalizing of our new venture with your company.", Maan said while signaling his secretary to hand over the invite to Mr. Chopra.
"Oh! That's great.", Mr. Chopra said while opening the invitation card. "We'll definitely be there Mr. Khurana."
"That's settled then.", Maan said. "See you at the party.", Maan said while shaking hands with Mr. Chopra once again and left.

After sometime, Geet got a call from Mr. Chopra.
"Ms. Geet, the HR file for our project in Chandigarh is in your cabin. Could you please look into it.", Mr. Chopra said.
"Sure thing sir.", Geet said.
She got up to search for it. It wasn't on her table. She looked at the rack filled with files on it. The file was on the top most shelf.
She tried to reach it but couldn't. She took a small stool that was placed behind her desk and climbed up to take the file. She struggled a bit to take it out as it was jammed between two other bigger files. Finally she took it out with a lot of force but accidentally slipped and was about to fall. She closed her eyes and steeled herself to hit the cold floor hard.
But that never happened. She opened her eyes and turned to her right to see that she was hanging in mid-air. There was an arm encircled around her waist. She turned to her left and was surprised.
"Lagta hai tumhe girne ka bahut shok hai.", her savior said with a smile. He carried her in his arms while looking into her eyes and placed her on her seat.
"Mr. Khurana, aap yahan?", Geet asked, confused and a bit dazed as well.
"Haan, main, yahan.", Maan said while leaning in a bit closer, placing both his hands on either side of the arm rest of her seat.
Geet leaned back a bit. " What are you doing here?", she asked.
Maan backed off while smiling and handed her the file that she had dropped when she was about to fall. "I was here to meet Mr. Chopra to invite him for a party that my company is holding.", he said
"Oh!", was all that Geet could say while pushing a strand of hair that had come onto her face.
"I hope that you'll come Ms. Geet.", Maan said with expectant eyes.
"Sure, why not?", Geet said with a pleasant smile.
"Great! I'll be looking forward to seeing you at the party." he said while smiling.
"See you soon Mr. Khurana." she said.
After Maan left Geet let out a deep breath that she didn't realize she was holding.
"I don't know why, but whenever Mr. Khurana is around, I always feel something happening to my insides.", Geet thought to herself. "For some reason I am not able to pin point what I feel."
She sighed. "Geet, lagta hai ki tu kuch zyaada hi soch rahi hai. Forget about this and concentrate on your work.", she muttered and started going through the file.
