Chapter 6

khushi marched into annika's room and knocked on the door thrice and she screamed while crying

Annika: go away, leave I don't want to talk to any body

Aarti and anuj came and aarti said

Aarti: khushi didi why is Annika didi crying?(she tugged on her dupatta)

Anuj: obviously because she is upset for not going to the Party

Khushi then pushed the door open and walked inside the room and Annika said

Annika: I thought I told u to leave and go

Khushi came and sat next to her and said

Khushi: I spoke to your mama he said u can go but u have to be back by 11

Annika: I don't want to go, its no use I cant I have nothing to wear I wish mom was here

Khushi: that's no problem we can organize some thing now what is the theme Anuj: Indian

Khushi: perfect I have a pretty lengha u can borrow that Annika: your lengha why would u lend me your lengha

Khushi: because ur my friend and that's what friends do share stuff

Annika: I am not ur friend, ur just a house keeper who s here to do what mama is suppose to do,(she yelled while crying)

Khushi: look I am here to take care of you three, ur happiness is my happiness

Anika: we can never be happy (she said angrily)

Khushi: and why is that (she said with a question mark)

Annika: because our mother is dead u don't know what's that's like (she screamed out)

Khushi: yes I do, incase u don't know my parents died too when I was young, I am adopted by my aunt and uncle, I too know what its like (she said loudly with sad expressions shocking the children)

Aarti: u also don't have a mama papa

Khushi: no I don't but its ok, even if they are not with me I am fine, my adopted parents love me as their own daughter and that's why I am lucky, I cant stop living my life just because they aren't there, if my parents knew that I was not living my life because of their death they wouldn't like it one bit, think of it would your mother like it she knew that u weren't enjoying your life

Anuj: (in a sad tone) no she wouldn't, mama always said that we should be happy all the time she sai

if we were happy then good things will come to us and if we were sad then we would always be sad

Khushi: Annika, if u want to go to the party then go enjoy yourself don't be disheartened and sad, your mother would love to see you enjoy yourself'.

Annika: its no point I have nothing to wear and besides I am not pretty like the other girls or like you

Khushi: (dragged her to the mirror and then said) look at yourself in the mirror and see how beautiful u are, you look like a princess and you are one,

Annika: but (she said hesitantly)

Khushi: but nothing come on come with me (she dragged her)

She took Annika to her room and then opened her cupboard, and removed a beautiful blue lengha with

gold work on it, it was a beautiful backless piece she handed it to her and then said

Khushi: go change

Annika took the lengha and went inside still sulking away and she went to change, anuj and aarti were lying down on khushi's bed waiting for Annika to come out of the bathroom, The door opened and she walked out, her hair was in a messy bun, as she wore the backless blouse and the blue flowing skirt she came and stood in front of khushi and then said

Annika: (looked in the mirror and then said) see I look horrible and ugly,

Khushi: u can't go like that She opened her bun and her shinny long black tresses came falling down, she took the brush and combed her hair removing the knots out of it, then she made Annika sit, Annika was all confused, she then applied some make up on her face starting with foundation, then blush on and, a dash of kajal and a beautiful shade of brown lip stick, she slipped on beautiful glass bangles in shades of turquoise and gold, then she put on a beautiful chain with a nice pendant one which was simple and for the finishing touch she put some gold jhumka's

Khushi: there your ready, as Annika saw herself in the mirror she was so stunned to see herself

Aarti: wow didi u look hot, (she said cutely)

Anuj: ya u don't look like Annika didi at all

Annika blushed away, and then khushi said

Khushi: look at u your beautiful just like a princess; every guy will have eyes on u today,

Annika blushed,It was around 8: 00 Clock everyone was sitting the hall talking, the arnav was there too, and so was anuj and aarti, they were sitting and chatting when she khushi came down and said

Khushi: can I have everybody's attention?

They all looked at her

Mami: hello hi bye bye, what is happenings

Nani: khushi betiya all ok

Arnav and akash looked up confused and ratna was curious to see what is going to happen

Khushi: ya naniji everything is fine, I have something to show u all

Ratna: what is it

Khushi: (turned aroundand said) annika come out

Slowly Annika came out, she looked beautiful in that lengha she was looking stunning, as she came out everyone was shocked to see her, no one said a word and then Annika said

Annika: see I told u I look horrible

Akash: anni u look beautiful, I cant believe its u (he said with shocked expressions)

Mami: hello hi bye bye, Annika u looks so beutifuls, smarts and very hotwa

Anuj and aarti started laughing and then nani said

Nani: annika betiya u look like an angel I cant believe its you

Ratna: (came to her and did some nazar to her and then said) tumko kisi ki nazar na lage

Everyone praised her, arnav looked at his niece and was shocked beyond any reason he could believe this was the same girl who was a total wreck, she looked at him expecting him to shout at her and so she said

Annika: I know u think I look horri' (He interrupted her when he showed his hand out and said)

Arnav: u look like ur mother today

Annkia was shocked she couldn't believe her mama was talking to her and that to complimenting her, she would fight with him so much that she forgot that he was nice as well,

Ratna and nani smiled at this they were happy to see the little gesture that took place, it was small

but it was a start Arnav looked at khushi

and then said

Arnav: 11 o clock she has to be back, and remember if u don't have a her back on time its your head on the line Khushi nodded, and then ratna said

Ratna: go betiya have a blast at the party

Annika left to go with khushi, who dropped her to school

Chapter 7

They reached the place and khushi was opening the door when Annika stopped her she looked scared and worried khushi asked

Khushi: what happened

Annika: do I look fine

Khushi: (smiled warmly and said) u look wonderful

Annika smiled back and then khushi said

Khushi: I will be here at quarter to 11 (she smiled and then said) if u are uncomfortable then give me a call I will come right away Annika smiled back and nodded and then khushi said

Khushi: have fun and enjoy yourself and most importantly be yourself

Annika: thank u didi

Khushi nodded and smiled at her and said

Khushi: have fun

and then Annika left to o in, khushi waited for a few minutes and then left to go home

Inside the party hall she walked in and everyone's eyes were on her, she walked in and was a bit nervous, her best friend Jeena came and said

Jeena: wow anni is that you (she said with shocked expressions)

Annika nodded nervously

Jeena: u look hot (she smiled)

Jeena: (whispered) look Ishaan is looking at you I think he likes you

She blushed and went in with herself, as she came in people greeted her, she was the most beautiful amongst every one even the hottest girl couldn't compete with her today

Back home khushi came in it was almost dinner time everyone was at the table, she helped in the kitchen as the servant Hari Prakash got the food out, she served the kids and then akash asked

Akash: khushiji aren't you going to eat

Arnav looked up from his plate to see what she was going to say

Khushi smiled and then said

Khushi: no akashiji not now I will feed the children and then eat

Akash nodded and then nani said

Nani: betiya you did a marvelous job with Annika today she looked beautiful, chottey is right she looks like her mother today Khushi smiled and then ratna said

Ratna: on the first day u are doing such a good job

Khushi: thank u auntyji

Arnav who was frustrated listening to all the compliments she was getting was now ready to shut so he yelled back

Arnav: (shouting)whats the big deal, why is everyone complimenting her, so she made Annika dress up anybody could do that, nothing special

Everyone looked at him Stunned and shocked khushi had her mouth open wide

Ratna: (trying to calm him) calm down chottey relax, its ok,

Arnav: I don't care, khushi is nothing more than their governess understand (he yelled) khushi stop trying to win everyone's heart I know your intentions

Khushi: (who was now getting angry shouted back and said) Mr Arnav singh Raizada, lower your voice, we all know u have all the money in this world, but that doesn't mean that you make a big deal about it, how dare you doubt my intentions I am not a GOLD DIGGER

Arnav: (screamed back) YES YOU ARE

Khushi: NO I am not, I am here to take care of the children, and that's what I am doing, don't you dobt my intentions understand, I am ere to do my job, auntyji and naniji are nice to me and I appreciate that, if u have such a problem with them talking to me like this then shut your ears or deal with it (she told him firmly)

Everyone watched as they quarreled and then ratna came and told Arnav o stop

Ratna: chottey please stop

Arnav: but ma

Ratna: please if u love me stop (she said sadly)

He saw his mother and then walked away sulking and then ratna said

Ratna: please don't mind him betiya, he is hot tempered but very kind at heart I know it

Khushi: (smiled and said) don't worry auntyji I understand

Ratna smiled and then they left the children were still there she fed them food and then made them change

Back in arnav's room he walked up and down in tension and anger all over him, as he thought t o himself

Arnav: how dare she, she yelled at me, and asked me to deal with it, what does that woman think she is, how dare she question my authority how dare she?? (then suddenly a light breeze passed by from the window that was open to the pool side, he felt a cool sensation touch his neck and a flash back of the memory of the first time they met came to his head, he remembered how she looked her innocent face those dough like soft eyes and those soft red lips she looks beautiful he thought, but his thoughts were interrupted by a knock, he looked at the door and then saw his beauty in front of him, he immediately came out of the trance and said

Arnav: (in anger) you what are u doing here

Khushi: I am not here to fight; I am here to inform u that I am leaving to go to pick up Annika

He nodded and she was about to leave but as she turned around she too felt the soft breeze on her neck and then turned back and saw him, he looked at her with big eyes wondering what happened, she saw him and a warmth spread through her heart he looked so handsome, she was finding herself attracted to him, he wore a purple swear shirt and track pants and he looked so adorable and warm, she could feel her heart beat faster and faster and she touched it wondering why it was doing that, he looked back and said

Arnav: do u need anything (he asked with raised eye brows)

She nodded with a negative sign and then walked off all confused her heart still beating faster and faster as she touched it, she was on her way down when she bumped into Nani who asked in a concerned tone

Nani: khushi betiya all ok

Khushi: (came out of her trance and said) ya naniji, I am just going to pick up Annika Nani nodded and then khushi left
