"Bas kijye, Arnavji! Hum aapse yeh pehle bhi keh chuke hain aur ab bhi keh rahe hain! Humein iss baat se koyi farak nahin padta! Aur kitni baar kehna padega?" (Stop it, Arnavji! I've told you before and I'm telling you again! It doesn't matter! How many times more will I have to tell you that?)
"Really? Tumhein farak nahin padta?" (...It doesn't matter?)
"Ji nahin! Aur yeh baat aap jitni jaldi maan lein, utna hi achha hoga!" (Not at all! And the quicker you understand that, the better will it be!)
Anjali flinched as she heard the bathroom door in her brother's room slam shut. A few minutes later, Arnav Singh Raizada emerged, looking as furious as ever. Before, she could say anything, he stormed out, car keys in hand, and she knew immediately that he was gone to vent his anger by racing madly through the lonely streets of Delhi. She sighed and looked at Mami who was ogling at her nephew who banged the door hard as he left with an expression of pure horror.
Nani rushed out of the prayer room. "Ka hua?" (What happened?)
"Kuchh nahin, Nani," she pouted, upset with her brother and sister-in-law's irrational behaviours. "In dono ka phir se jhagda ho gaya." (Nothing Nani. These two just quarrelled again.)
Nani shook her head and went back to her prayers. These fights had gotten more frequent since Arnav and Khushi had returned from the previous monthly check-up Khushi had to go to since she was already four months along and her husband was not going to take any chances with her and the baby. God knew what was going on between them. Anjali was getting sick of interfering and acting as the peacemaker. This time, they were alone in this; they had to patch up without her help.

"Humein maaf kijye. Humein aapse aise baat nahin karni chaahiye thi. Agar aapka gussa thanda hojaaye to hum aapki Mamma se milne gaye hain. Aapki Khushi." (Sorry. I should not have spoken to you like that. If you've calmed down, I'm gone to meet your mother. Your Khushi.)
He read the note and it brought a little smile to his lips. He had been able to calm down and thought about it. And he had realised he had been at fault too.

Anjali watched in awe as her brother jogged out of the house, this time smiling widely. Hadn't he just come in sulking?

He hugged her from behind as she was watering the new Grandiflora rose they had planted together and removed the hose from between her hands.
"Sorry," he mumbled.
Khushi turned around in his arms to place a gentle kiss on his cheeks. "Theek hai." (It's okay.)
He smiled and nudged her nose with his.
"Lekin humein sach mein koyi farak nahin padta, Arnavji." (But it really doesn't matter.)
Arnav lifted his eyes to hers sadly. "Sure?"
"Pakka," she assured him, pressing her forehead against his. "Humein koyi farak nahi padta agar humaare bacche ko diabetes ho. Jab tak voh humaara aur aapka ansh ho, hum unse behad pyaar karenge." (Completely. It doesn't matter to me if our child is diabetic. Till he's part of you and me, I love [it] more than anything else.)
"Khushi, agar usse sugar hoga, to voh tumhaari jalebiyan kha nahin payega," Arnav teased. (Khushi is [it] is diabetic, [it] won't be able to eat your jalebis.)
"To kya hua? Hum unke aur aapke liye bina cheeni wali jalebiyan banayenge!" his wife giggled joyfully. (So what? I'll make them sugar-free for the two of you!)
"Khushi, I'm-"
"Dekhiye!" she shrieked, stepping away furiously. "Aap ne phir se sorry kaha to hum sach mein gussa ho jaayenge!" (Look! If you say sorry again I'll truly get angry!)
"To tum itni der se drama kar rahi thi?" he asked mockingly, while his arms snaked around her again. "Nautanki!" (So you were pretending all along?)
Khushi punched him lightly on the chest, letting him gather her to his chest for her tight but comforting hug.
He had been so scared when the doctor had told them there were high chances their baby could be diabetic. Khushi had a sweet tooth and he had been sure she would be really disappointed if their child turned out to be like him, unable to taste what she treasured.
So, once they had gotten in the car, he had tried to apologise but Khushi had told him he could not help it. He had tried a few more times but it had ended up making her angry.
She disengaged herself from his embrace to look at her possessive husband.
"Aur haan, Mr Arnav Singh Raizada! Mithaaiyon se zyaada, iss duniya mein hum aur do cheezon se pyaar karte hain! Aapko pata hain kisse?" (And yeah [...]! I love two other things more than sweets! You know what?)
Arnav pouted, feigning ignorance and shook his head.
Khushi smiled, running her hands up his chest. "Aapse, aur humaare bacche se." (You and our baby.)
"Really?"
She nodded with a big grin. God, he loved her so much dammit! Unable to help himself, he swooped down to kiss his beautiful wife.
