Chapter 2: Surprise!

"JIJU!"

"Ash! Where's Khushi?"

"Di is inside she'll be so happy to know you're in London, but what are you doing here?"

"Business deal!"

"Oh, well you're lucky because you get to spend your marriage anniversary with your wife even though you live so far away from each other!"

"I'll just go see her!"

"Uh-uh jiju, itni bekarare bhi achi nahi! (Uh-uh jiju being this impatient isn't good!) You will have to wait till Di gets ready!"

"Di, you are going to wear the sari Jiju bought for you!"

"No, I want to wear that to the airport!"

"Please!"

"Fine, but I want to video chat with Arnav so he can see how I look like in his design!"

"Okay, I will take the sari out and you take a shower while I set up the connection!"

"Okay, but don't connect until I change!"

"Sure! Now go!"

"Jiju, she's taking a shower in her room. You can wait here or in the room!" she giggled.

Khushi walked out wearing a towel on her head and a robe over her blouse and skirt. She began wrapping the sari around when she heard the door close. Her back was facing the door so she couldn't tell who it was.

"Ash, acha hua tum aa gaye! (Ash, it's good you came!) I need your help in tying the dori (string) to my blouse.

She felt two masculine hands help her.

"Ash, what happened to your hands? They are so strong." She giggled "Looks like chopping all those vegetables are really helping you gain some good muscle."

She gasped when she felt the hands wrap around her waist. Khushi quickly turned around to see the man she had been waiting to see for years!

"Arnav! Tum yahan kaise? I mean kab? Kyun? (Arnav! You here how? I mean when? Why?)"

" Mujhe dekh kar khushi nahi hui? (Aren't you happy to see me?)"

"Ofcourse! I'm so happy, but I wasn't expecting you here!"

"Well, I wanted to surprise as a gift for our marriage anniversary! I also had a deal to finalize so I thought I would come to London!"

"Arnav, I'm not dressed though!"

"It's okay; I'm your husband! Don't I have a right?"

"Sure you do, but I want you to rest right now! You must have come straight from the airport! Let me just get dressed and you can come to work with me!"

"Okay, but I want to help you get dressed!"

He took a step forward and she took one back, he took another forward and she took one back. When she was trapped between Arnav and the wall, Arnav took his gifted sari and began dressing her.

"Arnav, you just need an opportunity don't you?"

"Of course! Let me help you with the jewelry too! Where's your mangalsutra?"

"On the dresser."

"There! Now you look ready for a date with your husband!"

"Arnav, we're going out?"

"Yes, unless you rather stay home and do something else!"

"Well, even though something else sounds interesting, I would rather go out on a dinner date! We haven't gone out in years!"

"Alright, but where do you want to go?"

"I want Italian for dinner!"

"Okay, so Bon Apetite for dinner?"

"Yes!"

"Anything else for my queen?"

"Ice cream at Ben 'n Jerry's!"

"Sure!"

"Okay, now I want you to go to work and come home early!"

"Oh my god! I'm late!"

"I'll drive you! Hurry up!"

"I'm ready."

"What about breakfast?"

"I'll eat at work."

"Wait! You are going to eat right here! Ash!"

"Yes Jiju?"

"Can you cook some healthy breakfast for Khushi? She's getting late for work."

"Di, jiju, I cooked breakfast while you were talking. Hot cakes with syrup, scrambled eggs, and, Di's favorite, grilled hash browns! I used less oil so they are very healthy!"

"Thanks Ash! I knew you would've cooked by now!"

"Yes Ash, glad you took such good care of my wife."

"No problem Jiju! Your wife is my Di!"

"Guys, let me change. I want to wear this when we go out to Bon Apetite."

"Hey, babe happy anniversary! By the way, don't you have to call your husband?"

"Stel! I forgot to tell you, he came to London just to surprise me on our anniversary!"

"Oh that's so sweet! Steve should learn to take lessons from your husband!"

They giggled.

"Anyway, I have a lot of work to balance out! I'll talk to you later!"

"Sure, but Steve wants to talk to you about your transfer."

"Thanks Stel! You look beautiful today! Especially in this new dress; I'm guessing you and Steve have plans right?"

"Is it that obvious?"

"Yeah!"

"We have a dinner date planned at Bon Apetite!"

"NO WAY! Arnav and I are going there for dinner too! We should double date!"

"Babe, that's a fabulous idea! I'll ask Steve; I don't want him to get upset. You know!"

"Totally understand! I have to talk to Arnav too! He might want this to be a just "us" thing too, since we haven't went out in years!"

"Okay, meet back in five?"

"Not in five, I have to talk to boss too, remember?"

"Oh yeah! Sure! In 10?"

"Yeah, but I'm not sure exactly how long it will take with Steve."

"That's fine; take your time!"

"Sir, did you want to talk to me?"

"Mrs.Raizada, just the person I wanted to see. Please, have a seat."

"Yes sir."

"As you know, Diva has been constantly expanding and now we have made our way into India. Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad, are the locations of our beautiful fashion houses. We need a general manager for our Ahmedabad and Delhi branch. Would you be interested in one of these locations?"

"Yes, the Delhi branch. My family lives in Delhi so Delhi for sure!"

"I'll get your transfer information ready. I think this position is perfect for you. You're very hard-working, and I know you deserve this position."

"Thank you so much sir! I won't let you down."

"That's what I wanted to hear! I thought you might prefer GM instead of just head designer! You can go now."
