Chapter 8
Arnav Singh Raizada knew when he was at fault. The fact that he never admitted his mistakes, was a different thing, all together. So, as he read and re-read the piece of paper given to him in so much anger by Khushi Kumari Gupta, he was just...confused. Here is what the entire page said,
Mr. Arnav I-need-to-get-a-life Singh Raizada STOP sending people to 'spy' or 'sabotage' MY DATE. For the love of your football club(because you refuse to believe in God who by the way is the only reason why I am not strangling you with my bare hands) stop being a complete moron, jackass, and a Karkaroff-Pettigrew spawn!
P.S: That last part about me hurling all sorts of abuses at you. Yeah, that part--Anjali Di helped me out with it. Guess what? She is way more creative at swearing than you!Hmmph!
So, now Arnav Singh Raizada was sure about a few things:
1)His complete devil of a sister was definitely involved and he was going to find out how and more importantly, why.
2)Apparently, he was in some way responsible for sabotaging Khushi's date with NK and even though he was not at fault, he was ecstatic that Khushi and NK's date had maybe not gone bad but...it had not gone good either!
He knocked twice on his sister's bedroom before he she opened it and yawned right in his face in the most unladylike manner. She leaned on her bedroom door, and raised and eyebrow in question feeling too lazy to ask.
Arnav thrust that paper in her face and stood with his arms folded across his chest.
"What? It's just a piece of paper humiliating you in some really nice...hey! That's my word!" said Anjali a little surprised and amused.
"Exactly! We need to talk",said Arnav.
"You know, you sound like one of those people who are going to break up with someone. Anyways, can't it wait till tomorrow morning? It's almost midnight Chotte", whined Anjali.
"No and stop behaving like you are sleepy. You are just feigning sleep to avoid the topic", said Arnav seeing right through her act.
"Yeah, but you have interrupted me in middle of some very important work. I need to submit an important report to Dad in the office tomorrow", said Anjali quite seriously, or at least tried to.
Arnav peeked into her room, took one look at the laptop and then casually said,"So, Dad's report is on the latest episode of Castle, huh? Wow, that is a change in the business. From fashion to ermm...television."
Anjali hit her palm on her forehead, glowered at her highly infuriating brother and said," Okay, okay whatever. What do you need? Let's get this done with ASAP. I was at the climax of the episode!"
Arnav simply said,"Khushi's date with NK."
"You are asking the wrong person, brother. Neither am I Khushi, nor NK. Before you even ask, I was not even then waitress serving them that night" replied Anjali with absolute ease.
"Oh no no no, I am asking the right person. What I mean is, how did you sabotage their perfectly good date and more importantly, why?" asked Arnav curiously.
"Oh you mean that. Easy peasy. It was not tough flirting with a teammate of your football team and then convince him to just 'co-incidentally' land up at the restaurant where Khushi and NK were having dinner.
Then, all he had to do was just go and greet NK like they were meeting after ages and then just join them for dinner like they were inviting him. Then completely ignoring the presence of Khushi, he would insist NK to join him for a boys night out later.
NK would obviously refuse the offer even though he would want to go because you know... he is a guy but then Khushi being the nice girl would say it's fine and hence NK would drop Khushi home and then go on his own way" blabbered Anjali on and on in one breath.
Arnav looked dumbfounded but soon recovered and asked almost immediately," But,why? I mean, what's in it for you if Khushi and NK went on a date? And even if you did what you did, then why is Khushi calling me all kinds of names?"
"Whoa. Stop right there. You ask way too many questions. Okay, I shall answer all of these on the condition that you leave and let me watch my episode in peace. Is it a done deal?" asked Anjali, her patience decreasing every second.
"I make no promise of the sorts. YOU did something wrong and I am being blamed for it. You do not get to choose the rules here. You will answer all my questions and only when I am content, will I leave" said Arnav, all the while pointing his finger at his sister.
"Firstly, I have done no wrong. But you shall not see it now. As for your questions, I sabotaged the date for fun,okay? I have no evil intentions nor do I wish to interfere in any of your lives. It was just for the sheer fun.
And probably, Khushi is blaming you because she probably saw through it and that guy was your friend so, I think its pretty obvious that she is going to link you with the whole setup. If you want, I'll just tell her that it was my fault and not yours. Are you done now?" said a highly exasperated Anjali.
"FUN? You did it for fun. If you tell Khushi that, she isn't going to believe you, you know that? As a matter of fact, she isn't going to believe you in anyway. Forget it, I am going to have to make her forgive me for something that I didn't even do. Great" said Arnav, almost shouting at Anjali now.
"You sound angry. Are you angry at me?" Asked Anjali quite seriously.
"Why don't you take a guess genius? You won't even need to investigate, you know" said Arnav with all the sarcasm that he could muster and went to his room next door, banging the door shut behind him.
I may have a crossed a line there now. Damn you, Arnav, now I can't even watch the end of Castle without feeling guilty.
