Point of contact
Kripa was well aware of her strengths and weaknesses. She was a good manager, and leader, but her imagination and creativity was almost zero. She gave a great party if she is given a theme. But she was not able to decide a theme. She was a great problem solver. But her problem solving techniques included the time tested techniques. Though she can adapt those techniques in different scenarios, she was not good at thinking new techniques. Therefore to compensate these weaknesses she has to look for a partner who has these as her strengths.
When she was in London, she had met with an Indian girl working at a PR firm. They had become good friends during her stay in London. Later they had maintained contact through phone and mails. Now she was during MFA from NIFT, New Delhi. Kripa has met with her several times and after many discussions, they have decided to start a PR firm together.
They were meeting later in the week to sign the final contract. There was just one catch. Kappa has asked for Angad's help. The lawyer they would employ would be from the same firm which Angad used. Therefore, Angad was the point of contact. She was to meet with him today.
Though she was not afraid of the archangel, there was something in his eyes that made her uncomfortable. Yet she had felt safe enough with him during the London-Delhi flight to sleep on his shoulder. He confused him, yet they had not even had a proper chat. With mixed feeling she went to the restaurant they were supposed to meet.
It was a normal day in Delhi, which meant the temperature hovered somewhere around 43C. She was wearing a T-Shirt and shorts, her usual for a hot summer day. It came to her mind, that she should have worn something else for meeting a near stranger when she reached the restaurant. But it was too late for that now. The driver had dropped her off at the meeting place and went to the Kappa & Khanna Consultancy offices as Kappa has asked Angad to drop her home after the meeting. Kripa has bristled at the implication that she was helpless, but Kappa has explained that it will be late after dinner, and Delhi was not safe that late. Kripa was determined to learn to drive as soon as possible after that conversation. For now she could do nothing but agree with his argument. Bhai has witnessed the whole interaction and smiled evilly, it has been proved that bhai liked it when she was annoyed.
When she entered the restaurant, the matre d approached her. She looked at her as if she was a fly fluttering around one of the chef's delicacies until Kripa mentioned she was meeting with MR. Angad Khanna. Then her whole demeanor changed, she gave Kripa an angelic smile and directed her to the reserved table. She also explained that Mr. Khanna was running late due to a meeting and will be with her shortly.
After the formidable matre d left, Kripa looked at the menu and ordered a Cinderella's surprise. It was a mix of all fruit juices, with a major proportion of mango, which she loved. While she was still sipping the drink, Angad arrived.
When the matre d told him, that his guest have already arrived, Angad took a moment to just take in his green eyes sitting and smiling at the drink, as if it was tastiest of all she has ever tasted. The sweet smiles made him want to haul her up in his arms and kiss her.
Kripa felt a prickling sensation along her neck and looked up to find Angad looking at her with strange intensity. That expression made her want to run away but she waited for his next move. Angad started walking towards her, holding her eyes throughout. When he finally reached the table Kripa stood up, not releasing the eye contact for a moment. Angad acknowledged her with a nod, and asked her to sit with his hands, and then finally he settled down in the chair opposite Kripa still holding her eyes.
