I decided to give you guys an early update since i'm going to be less active for about 2 weeks :) I tried to make this one longer than usual! This one is for Sonam (Sonam-IPKKND) , Tara (-Smiles-) and Farzana ( farahzanaa) :) Thank you for being the awesomest friends! And Farzana.. i added an ArHi scene justtt for u like i promised!!!
"Priyanka baba, mama and papa just weren't right for each other so we decided we shouldn't be together," I slowly said. I knew this wouldn't be easy for her to understand.
"But why? Will he ever come again? Will he visit again?" she asked. I could see tears forming in her eyes.
"Baby, you'll understand when you're older. And no he won't be visiting," I answered trying to stay strong for her.
"Is it 'adult stuff'? Like when i ask Arnav mamu and Khushi mami what they did last night that they couldn't play with me and they say 'adult stuff' and then they look at each other wierdly?" she asked batting her eyelashes. I couldn't help but laugh at that.
"Something like that. I will tell you more when you get older," I said
"Pakka Promise?" she asked holding out her pinky
"Pakka promise," I agreed interlocking my pinky with hers. This time it was Khushiji and Chotte who smiled at the sight they saw. Out family moment was abruptly interpreted by the doctor.
"So sorry to interrupt Mrs. Jha- I mean Ms. Raizada. I would just like to say you are free to leave. Just make sure someone fills out the discharge papers at the front desk," he said adjusting his glasses and looking down at his clipboard.
"Thank you Dr. Khan. And make sure you change the name on the medical records to Ms. Raizada. I don't want to ask again," Chotte said sternly.
"No problem Mr. Raizada. I'll just send a nurse in to take out the IV and give you the medication that your sister should take for the next few days," he said with a frightened expression on his face. Was the whole world afraid of my baby bhai?
"Di we'll be waiting outside. I have a saree for you in this bag. Change and meet us outside," he said picking up Priyanka from my lap.
"Ok," I said.
"Mamu, are we going home?" Priyanka asked.
"Ha Pri," Chotte said smiling.
"Good, this place smells wierd," Priyanka said holding her nose.
"Haha. Ok baba. I agree, it does smell bad," Chotte replied holding his nose in return. "Now, do you want to go to your massi?" he asked.
"Of course! Massi always smells like Jalebis! Is that why you like her?" Priyanka asked.
"That's exactly why I love her. Also because she's sweet, funny and a little bit pagal. Oh and VERRRY good at 'adult stuff'," Chotte said winking at Khushi. Once a badmaash, always a badmaash.
"But massi, why do you love mamu? He's always talking on the phone an yelling at Aman uncle," Priyanka questioned.
"Even though he may seem like that, he's actually a softie. He has a very sweet heart if you dig deep. Oh, and he's also verryyy good at 'adult stuff' as well," Khushiji said giggling and turning pink. These two would never stop such children will they?
"Ok bas bas you two. I know you can go on all day with your flirting but the nurse will come in soon and I don't think she would enjoy seeing you two give each other googly eyes. Go wait outside," I said giggling. I slapped my baby bhai playfully on the back.
"Ok Di, we'll be waiting outside," Chotte said wrapping and arm around Khushi's waist and planting a kiss on her rosy cheek. As they left, the nurse came in and took out my IV. I hopped off the hospital bed and took the bag with my saree. I walked into the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. In front of me, I saw a disheveled looking woman. Completely different from my old self. I had dark black bags underneath my eyes and my hair was tangled in every which way. This man had done this to me. He took my life, my soul but I would surely gain it back. I quickly changed as I knew Chotte would make a big deal out of me taking too long. I walked out of the bathroom and then walked out of the hospital room just to be greeted by my overzealous family.
"Anjali bitya, tum teek to hai na?" Nani asked
"Ha Nani. I'm fine," I replied back to Nani.
"Anjali bitya, puhlease speake up if you're not feeling fit," Mami said.
"Mami, don't worry, I will," I assured her accenting my answer with a warm smile.
"You better...," Chotte muttered under his breath loud enough for everyone to hear. He was never good at that.
"Let's go," Mamu said leading the way to the car.
"Did you fill out the discharge papers?" I questioned.
"Yea Di and I made sure that incompetent doctor never gets your name wrong again," he said. The car ride was silent. There wasn't much to talk about. Even though this was, I felt reassured with Priyanka sleeping on my lap. As we walked into the house, I noticed many of the pictures were missing. What?
"Chotte, why are there pictures missing from the table?" I asked.
"Di, we felt as though it was necessary to get rid off all the reminders of him. It would be the best for you," Chotte said.
"You didn't have to do that. Priyanka should at least have a picture of her Babuji," I said.
"There is no need for that. Why does she need to remember that man. It'll only bring up more questions," Chotte argued.
"Ok that's fine by me. How about we eat some food. Do we have anything?" I asked.
"Yes, I asked Hari Prakash to make some food for us before we return," Chotte said.
"Ok let's go, I'm famished," I said limping my way to the dinner table. Hari Prakash brought in plates of rice, roti and different sabjis.
"Chotte, what was the need for so much food? This is enough food for a whole wedding," I said jokingly
"Don't joke Di. You need to eat well. You're weak," Chotte said seriously
"Ok, ok don't worry I will," I said grabbing a few rotis. We ate dinner silently and made our ways up to our rooms
"Di, if you want, you can sleep in our room today," Chotte said as he helped me up the stairs
"No, no it's fine. Don't let me disturb you and bhabi," I said winking even though I knew it would help A LOT to sleep in their room.
"Di, you're never a disturbance," Chotte said.
"I'll be fine," I said putting my hand on his cheek.
"Ok, sleep tight," he said letting me go to my room. It was weird walking in and not seeing the portrait of Shyam and I hanging on the wall. All of his stuff was cleared out and it was just me myself and I. Maybe I could get used to it... I sat down on the bed. It still smelled like his cologne.. I would have to wash it. But the memories, the memories and the hurt could never be washed away. And then, then I just couldn't stand it anymore. The tears started to flow out. It started off small and then, it turned into quiet hiccuped sobs until I felt myself fall asleep. For the first time in my life, I cried myself to sleep.
