Whistles and laughter came from the playground south to her house..She remembered how she won a game of football there against the boys of the colony..
The store- keeper near her house shooed away some crows.. That was where Buaji had her Dukkan of sarees.. The public tap, happiji ka garage, the road to DM's temple..
" thu bhi na Khushi.. Climbed up to take your own life and now u r studying the geography of Laxminagar..focus khushi..focus.. " She looked at herself.. "hmm' I should have wore the red suit..isnt it Arnavji's favourite colour? " She slapped her head, scolding herself.." its because of him.. U are committing suicide and still think about his likes? No way.. U r going to do it.."
She tightly grabbed the mobile phone in her palms.. Once again looked down..the height frightened her. She tightly shut her eyes " Donot think about ur family.. It will make u weak.. go on.. Take 3 more steps and that's it.. Go on.."
"THREE" .. "Devi Mayyan..Devimayyan.. " she took the first step.

He came to the back door calling " Khushi.."
" Kya hua bitwa??" it was Buaji ..
" have you seen her somewhere? I have searched the whole house..Buaji.. What is it with her since yesterday?"
" Don't panic bittuva..sankadevi aise hoti hai" she was washing dresses.." a few moments ago she was near the stairs.."

" ha.. She said there is gud reception .." and Buaji walked in shaking her head.
Arnav stood in the yard..He looked everywhere..he was turning to go inside, but suddenly his eyes widened.. He shouted'" Khushi.. What r u doing there?"
She was on the edge of the parapet.. She was so absorbed in her footsteps that she hadn't heard him..
" Khushi..Get down.. U will fall from there.. Get down Khushi.." he was calling out.." khushi , am telling u.. GET DOWN.." He shouted.. Getting no response from her, he sprinted to the terrace.." YOU' KHUSHI KUMARI GUPTA"
Khushi counted : "TWO"

He was panting by the time he reached there. She was on the very end.
" ONE"
"KHUSHI'."
Her eyes opened hearing his voice.. Terrified , she turned to look at him..
" Khushi..you.." walking towards her, he began.
And.. She lost her balance.. Her foot slipped.. She tried to grab on something as she flied.. " ARNAVJIII" ' she screamed as she went down..
Arnav threw himself forward.. "Khushiii.." he got hold of her icy-cold thin hand..He tried to pull her up.. But her hand slipped through his..she started to cry..
" Don't panic.. Am not letting you go Khushi.. Stick to my hand.." She looked down and screamed..
" look at me.. I WONT LET YOU GO".. She looked at him and it was all written over his face that he was frightened..
In a minute, he landed on the roof and she on him..He tightly hold her and asked "r u alryt?"
She nodded..
"what were u doing up there Khushi?"
" I was' trying to ..jump.."
"jump?? What the??? Why?"
She sat upright, smoothed her hair.. "bcz u ..wanted... me ..dead."
"WHAAT??"
"ya..i saw it in the horoscope..that rich husband will kill the wife .." her face was pale..
" what the??" he turned his face. What will I do to this girl.. With her stupidity she won my heart and now its Impossible to control myself.. I will teach u a lesson..he faced her asking.." Do u believe what they say?"
"Yes"
"oho.. Do u know what they tell today?" there was a glint in his eyes..
"No??" her voice, confused.
" hmmm..very bad.." he stood up .." but I did.." he Gave his hand for her to get up.
" what did they say?" asked, taking his hand and standing up..
" that, if ur suicide attempt go futile..u can try another way to keep ur life.."

"Be a perfect wife to him, in everyway.."

She shook her head..
"k.. I will teach you how.." he winked and in a sudden move, took her in his arms..
"Ji?"
"They said so..u urself said u believe them.." he walked carrying her in his arms..
'' if it will keep me alive..its k..but how do u know?"
Arnav smiled and said: "I know everything Khushi.." As they walked away, Kushi"s light blue Duppatta fluttered in the air..
