Arnav: I'm fine. I need to go
He somehow managed to stand up on his feet again and left the Gupta House. This can't be happening to him! He needed to find her, and he needed to do it fast!
He hurried to the nearest temple where he had found Khushi the last time she ran out. Arnav had a hard time believing the priest when he said he had not seen Khushi or anyone like her since the morning.
How could she not be here? Arnav had now started to panic. He was almost certain that he would find her here if not in the Gupta house. Where did she go?
He took out his phone and called her number only to find out it had been switched off.
Arnav ordered his chauffeur to take him to the next temple, and then to the next one. He had been frantically calling her number every couple minutes in between searching her at every temple en route to the RM Mansion. Not only he couldn't trace her anywhere, but also she's not picking up her phone!
When Arnav got back to his house in the evening, he was severely exhausted and worried sick out of his mind. He marched into his room without talking to anyone.
Throwing his laptop on the bed Arnav started pacing in his room, his anxiety increasing by the minute. He had already called the police with strict instructions on the sensitivity of the matter, the last thing he wanted was to have someone take advantage of her disappearance. He had also hired a few private investigators for clues of her whereabouts.
Arnav suddenly remembered about Khushi's letter that he hadn't finished reading. He quickly took it out and started going over the remainder of it '
"'I have thought about that paper the entire night, but couldn't bring myself to sign it. I know you had wanted a six month marriage and there are still about five months to go, but it won't be possible for me to stay with you any more. I do have a request, please don't take this out on my sister. Please let them be happy.
I am thankful to you for making Preetika's husband realize his mistake. I am also grateful to you that you had presented yourself as the ideal son-in-law in our house even when you hated me. Amma, Buaji, Babuji, the neighbors .. everyone loved you. Even I was getting convinced that may be this marriage is a real one.
Arnav ji, the way you looked at me, the way you spoke ' I thought you had some feelings for me. Was it all in my head? It must be! I have been utterly foolish to even think an impeccable business man like you may fall for a poor and simple girl like me.
Arnav ji, I don't know why I am saying this ' last night was beautiful! Why do you have to make it so hard on me?
I am leaving, but I will be back one day to sign those papers. Don't try to look for me."
Tears had started rolling down his face while Arnav was reading her letter, and he was sobbing like a child by the time he finished it.
He instinctively went to the poolside to pacify himself, but all he could think of was how he made Khushi sleep out here in the cold night, and how she had looked at him with tears in her eyes. How he wished he could turn back time and hold her in his arms! He rushed back in to the room unable to wipe out the painful image of a shivering Khushi from his mind. The moment he got back inside, his eyes fell on to the side of his bed where Khushi used to sleep. The pink bed cover, the glitzy stars hanging above it ' everything reminded him of Khushi.
He had severely hurt her, she's gone now, and even worse he didn't know where to find her. The misery of not knowing her whereabouts combined with the pain caused by the guilt that was brewing inside was excruciating, and pushed him to the verge of a mental collapse.
Maybe stabbing himself would make the agony go away. May be ripping out his heart apart would be less painful than what he was going through.
He looked at his closet where some of Khushi's suits were still hanging. He grabbed one of them and buried his face into it, "Come back Khushi! Come back to me!" He sobbed smelling her and breaking down.
