CHAPTER 1: All Hell Let Loose

Anjali plastered another fake smile on her face for the upcoming day as she walked to the bathroom, her thoughts on her husband. It was ironic to her how only a year ago it was her husband who would stay with her. But it was her brother who would be her pillar and her shoulder to cry on when she was in need of it. And now' it was her very same brother she had hurt and not even the gods were on his side. But you could have helped him Anjali, you always knew she was right, her heart whispered. Wiping her eyes to remove even the slightest drop of water, she opened the bathroom knob slowly'only to have her heart ripped out again.

"CHOTTE!"

"Plan A aborted Mr. Jha, he's in the hospital."

"F**k! Get the girl then. Plan B in action."

"Don't worry, Mr. Jha", the voice on the phone purred, "I will definitely get that b***h!"

"Just remember the rules. You agreed to them." And with that the dial went dead.

"Di, please calm down. Di' DI! Will you listen? You NEED to CALM down!"

"No, no, no! SHUT UP! NO! He can't leave me! NO please Devi Maiyaa, fulfill one of my wishes' don't let him leave me' I didn't even get to apologize yet'no, no, no'I went to him just to apologize' please don't let him leave..." Anjali dropped down, no longer being able to form words. She reduced to uncontrollable sobs that rocked her body.

Akaash looked at his sister's hysterical form and couldn't help stop the panic that waved his own heart. He looked at the small-looking form of his younger brother that he admired and looked up to. The same brother that he was jealous of and Akaash had taunted at when his brother needed him the most. Here his brother looked vulnerable, with the needles sticking into his flesh and bandages wrapped around him. Agony washed over Akaash but it was the guilt that drowned him the most. Arnav's face, that once glowed when people mentioned his beloved wife' its ex-wife now, his mind corrected'it was now colorless with a tint of yellow and black & blue scars. And that's what did to for Akaash. He turned his face, not being able to look at Arnav anymore. Akaash grabbed his sister into a tight hug and softly rocked her while he let his own tears fall onto her hair.

"Hello Hi Bye Bye! Deesh peeple are goingz hyshterical! We iz need to helps!" Manorama and her husband, Manohar watched the emotional scene between brother and sister in front of them through the hospital window with wet eyes. Naniji was sitting, waiting for everyone with tears running down the folds of her face. She repeated the same thing over and over again: "It's all my fault. Why didn't I believe him? My fault!"

"Naniji, stop blaming yourself." Nani looked up to see Payal walking towards her a small smile on her face. Payal gave Nani a small hug and said, "We are all to blame. Naniji, it's been a year now, and you know the truth. Please you should go talk to him soon."

"Dhanewadh bitiya'for keeping him close." Nani softly spoke.

"I had to believe him and stay with him' I promised' I promised HER I would."

The door then opened and in walked the doctor. "Mr. Manohar Raizada?" he called.

Mamaji, Mamiji, Naniji, and Payal ran to the doctor and crowded around him,

"H-hhow is he d-doctor?" Mamaji questioned as he trembled for the answer.

"Sit down Mr. Raizada because there is a lot to say about his highly critical condition. Although he is out of danger for now, I can guarantee that, there are many things that should be brought to your attention. Your nephew is currently has malnutrition, which is creating chaos in his body, especially affecting his weight and sugar level. But worries me more is the cause of this. Arnav Singh Raizada is in depression and the cuts on his body'are attempted suicidal cuts." The doctor stopped, noticing for the first time since he started speaking, the expressions on the Raizada's faces.

Manohar had a dazed look and his hand was grasped tightly to Manorama's hand. Manorama herself was shocked, her eyes on the hospital window where her bitiya was lying. Nani held onto Payal for support, her sobs now just tears and shudders.

It was a scream that awoke them from their stupor.

"MAA!"

Manohar wished he was still in his trance.

"DOCTOR!"

Manorama rushed behind the doctor, the fear for her nephew unleashing.

"MAAA!"

Nani felt her heart pierce and shatter.

"DOCTOR CODE 101"

Payal felt the world slipping beneath her feet. Closing her eyes to focus, she saw the face of the angel who could have helped them in this situation. Payal broke down.
