PART VI (Last Part)
After dinner Veer helped Ananya clear the table and then went to the couch. After some time Anu emerged from the kitchen with a bowl in her hand, "You want ice-cream? Should I get some for you?" She asked Veer. Veer shook his head. So she kept the packet of ice-cream back in the fridge and went to sit on the couch. She folded her legs, her feet on one side and leaned against Veer, while he draped his arm across her shoulder and stroked her arm.
"We had ice-cream at home?" He asked surprised.
"Of course, I can't stay in a house without ice-cream." Ananya replied with a grin.
"And I can't live in a house without you." He kissed her forehead.
Ananya looked up at his face lovingly and said, "I know, baby. Sahil told me."
"What? Who? When? I mean what are you talking about?" Veer spluttered in shock.
"You know'before dinner when you were sleeping you got a call."
He nodded in response.
Ananya was going to continue when she suddenly stopped, "Wait, how do you know? You were sleeping!" She looked at his face and then exclaimed, "You were pretending!" And then swiftly hit his arm.
"My my feisty, aren't we?" He waggled his brows and then said, "But then anything for a kiss"
Ananya made a face and muttered something her breath.
"Achha baba, sorry'" And he fed her a spoon of ice-cream to placate her.
She smiled and said, "Now as I was saying'Sahil told me that you had become a complete devdas in my absence'" She giggled and remembered her conversation with Sahil.
Anu picked up Veer's phone and went to their bedroom to not disturb Veer's nap while she was at the call. She pressed the answer button without looking at the caller. Before she could even say Hello, a male voice boomed from the other side. "Veer! How much time do you take to pick up a call? Ok, forget all that and listen. Prashant was proposing that we meet up today also at your house. Is it okay with you?" "Is this Sahil? And meet up? Matlab?" Sahil was surprised to hear a female's voice from the other end. "Oh Ananya! You've returned. We thought you were supposed to come tomorrow." "That's okay but I didn't know that you guys were going to come for dinner! Veer didn't tell me." "Arre! Nahi! Nahi! Actually Veer seemed a bit messed up after you left. So to cheer him up, we had a umm... you know a bachelor's night at your house." Sahil disclosed a bit embarrassed. "Don't worry! Humne aisa kuch nahi kiya jo hume nahi karna chahiye tha." Anu smiled at this remark and after talking for a few more minutes, returned to the living room.
Veer groaned, "I'm going to kill that guy. I DID not become some devdas."
She giggled, "I'm kidding. But he told me that you missed me a lot and also about yesterday's party."
He gulped a bit nervously, "He told you about the party?"
"Hey! I'm not some Hitler! That you couldn't tell me about it yourself. You should have told me that all that mess was not your fault." She caressed his jaw lovingly.
"I don't think you gave me a chance to say anything." He raised his brows and continued. "I didn't want you to think that there you were slogging and studying and here your husband was partying."
She laughed. "I was not slogging there. I know it was a week-long seminar and workshop and it was strenuous but I enjoyed myself. And it was a college trip so I had my friends. And you needn't be so hard on yourself."
"But I was all alone'even mom is out of town I couldn't even talk to you more than once a day. You were so busy." He made a face and then said, "So I drowned myself in work. I worked overtime the whole week."
"What? Overtime whole week?" She was shocked. "No wonder you look so tired. Veer! You should take care of yourself. Never do it again. OK?" She scolded him turning his face towards her.
"I want you to take care of me." He murmured turning his face to kiss her palm on his cheek. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too, sweetheart" She kissed his cheek.
"I didn't even now that it was possible to miss someone so much. I felt so lost without you. And today I was missing you even more. That's why I didn't even realize that it was really you when you came. I thought I was hallucinating."
"Hallucinating really?" She now understood his lukewarm response and smiled.
She looked at him lovingly and grazed her fingers across his light stubble.
He looked at her and teased, "But it seems that you didn't miss me too much."
She looked wounded and said, "How can you say that? I missed you terribly. I couldn't even sleep properly the whole week 'cause I didn't have your arms around me. I dreamt of you every day. I missed you all the time. Whenever I wasn't doing any project I thought of you. How can you say I didn't miss you?" She finished with a slight catch in her voice.
Veer held her face in his palms and gazed at her. He had recognized the slight catch in her voice and knew that she was close to tears. He kissed her forehead and then her eyelids which had closed at his touch. He skimmed his lips above her nose and then gently kissed her lips. He took the now empty bowl from her hand and kept it aside and pulled her closer on his lap.
"I was teasing, Anu"
"It wasn't nice."
"Achha, you can tease me endlessly with those almost kisses and I can't tease you with my words?"
"No you can't. Don't joke about something like that."
"Ok sorry, I love you Anu"
"I love you too, Veer"
And then he again kissed her. This time the kiss quickly escalated into a passionate one as if they were trying to make up for the whole week that they had stayed apart.
When they finally separated for breath, Veer smiled and muttered "Chocolate"
"Huh?"
"You taste like chocolate."
"Must be the ice-cream"
"It's officially my favorite flavor from now." He grinned.
"Want some?"
"Sure" He smirked.
When she was going to get up, he stopped her.
"What happened? You don't want your favourite flavoured ice-cream?"
"Who said anything about ice-cream? My favourite flavour is right here." He winked and then proceeded to kiss her and clear any doubts about his favourite flavor.

Later in the night when they were lying on their bed ensconced in each other's arms, Veer kissed his wife's forehead and called her name
"Anu"
"Hmm'"
"Promise me you won't go on trips like this again." He pleaded
"Fine I won't go on trips." He smiled and bent to kiss her cheek before he heard "At least not the ones which are longer than 3 days."
He growled his reply, "Do you have another trip coming up'for 3 days?"
"Hmm'but it's not so soon. But I can't avoid it." She told him apologetically.
He huffed angrily. "Fine then. I'll have to start take preparations from now itself so that I don't miss you too much."
"How?" She asked curiously.
"Like this" He kissed her lips. Then he placed light kisses on both her cheeks and then slowly moved to her chin. He trailed a line of wet kisses on her collar bone and murmured "And then some more"
"What are you waiting for then? Do it!" She replied almost breathlessly.
And he did. Thoroughly. And then some more'
