CHAPTER 6 - BLOOD AND THE BEAUTY
After a restless night, Arnav decided to spend his waking hour in the garden. He was surprised to see the lonely figure standing under the tree. He took his time to get a good look at her since all she did during their last meeting was pop at him like a firecracker. A sizzling firecracker at that, he smirked at his own thoughts. He didn't deny that she had grown into a beautiful maiden. Alas! No longer the elf he considered her to be. Her petite figure with full womanly curves, her long silky tresses flowing like a cascade of ebony waterfall, porcelain skin which made you scared that she might actually break. He too would have thought the same if he hadn't known her before. She might look like a porcelain doll, but he knew she was as tough as a stone. Hell, he had experienced her toughness. And she could drive you insane with her non-stop chattering which annoyed him the most.
So catching her all quite and concentrating on doing something was a rare sight indeed. The ivory silk of lehanga she was wearing enhanced her beauty further in the rising sun making her glow with a unique charm, that he was sure only she possessed. She stood with both her hands raised infront of her as though holding a diya with her eyes closed muttering something with her cupid bow of lips. He would be damned if he didn't accept the fact that she looked like a fallen angel from the heavens. Suddenly a flower from overhead floated and fell into her open arms. She opened her eyes in pure glee.
That made him snap out of his reverie. HOW THE HELL DID SHE DO THAT ?!?!?
Before he could ask her anything, she hopped out of the garden towards his mother's chambers.
He felt like following her. But something stopped him. The truth of knowing how she had attained the flower from HIS tree scared him. He knew he wasn't ready for the answer. He would never be. With that he returned to take care of his own business and try to take his mind off the beauty that seemed to haunt his dreams since last night.
Khushi was literally floating . She did it. That means she wasn't a fool like he considered her to be. Now why was she worried about the way he called her. And why in the name of all heavens, did she want to prove him wrong. Let him think whatever he wants. She didn't care about it. Or... did she ?!?
She didn't give it a second thought as she saw her mom and Anjali standing by her aunt's portrait. They were to leave back home today. But she didn't want to go home yet. She had sent a message to her Sid bhai stating she was in Wairua and wanted to meet him. She signaled Anjali to start the conversation with her mother.
"Maasi... You came here only yesterday and you wanna leave so early. Please Maasi, stay atleast for a week nah?" grumbled Anjali.
Krithika very well knowing what was on her niece's mind decided to play along. Afterall, this is what she wanted.
"How can I Anju? Your father had accepted for the proposal. I should head for our ancestral home at Matangi to prepare for the engagement and then the upcoming wedding nah?",Lady Krithika pitied herself.
"Hmm... Atleast let Khushi stay back. You wouldn't be needing her anyways. And she could come with us next" said Anjali.
"That's better too. She would be a hindrance if I took her with me. So I might leave her here as well. That would make my work easier than worrying about what she's upto from time to time" said Krithika adding," and Anjali, if she stays too quiet for long, then be sure she's upto NO GOOD. Keep an eye on her all the time. Sorry for putting her on your back though Anju."
"oh ho Maasi. Its not a problem atall. There are four of us here to keep an eye on her. Even if we failed, Arnav bhai is here to keep her on tracks. Without worrying, you take care of the engagement works. We'll be happy to have her around Maasi" piped Anjali happily.
"Fine then. I might start now cause I need to reach there before sunset. Take care both of you" and with that Krithika left thanking her stars at making her shoot down two birds with a single stone. Her work here for now, was done.
Siddharth had come sometime after her mother had left. She had been laughing and teasing Adithya with Anjali till he was brought in by her Uncle Amish. She noticed how all of a sudden Anjali had gone silent and how often her Bhai's eyes darted in her pretty cousin's direction. BINGO!!!!! She knew they both were totally smitten. Deciding to tease Anjali with this later, she was busy talking to Sid totally unaware of the pair of smoldering bronze eyes following her every single move.
After a while, Khushi took Siddharth to show around the garden, particularly her favorite tree. As soon as Siddharth saw the tree, he began telling her the unique characteristics of the dryad of the tree, whose mind would be connected to that of her master's. This left Khushi quizzing herself on how she was able to attain the flower that morning while the tree belonged to Arnav. It was relentless yesterday, but today, it had been very yielding. Does that mean something? Anything?
Inorder to divert her thoughts, she took an apple from the nearby tree. She began cutting thru it with her dagger asking Siddharth whether he too wanted an apple. But her mind went back to the previous day's happenings below this very same tree. She remembered how his hands had felt and even now she slightly shivered at the mere memory of that feeling. Wait. She wasn't supposed to feel this way about that Raakshas. What was happening to her?
With that thought she felt herself slice her palm with the dagger accidentally. She dropped it to the ground to examine the extent of the damage. Suddenly everything felt eerily quiet. She looked up to see what had happened with Siddharth that made him silent.
She was shocked out of her senses on seeing the blood red eyes instead of the usual warm hazel eyes of her brother. Before she could process anything, he pounced towards her.
In her dazed state she registered that instead of closing in upon her, Siddharth was thrown back into a tree behind him. She turned around to see Arnav walking with his hands out stretched. She immediately understood what he had done. He had thrown back Siddharth with his powers. Now he stood infront of her guarding her from her brother's view.
Siddharth took his time to control himself.
Meanwhile Arnav turned back to her and asked for her hands. When she didn't react, he pulled it up himself.
He put his palm flat on hers and murmured a spell. While she was tingling all over with the touch of his hands, he healed her completely without even a scar. But he didn't let go of her hand. She started squirming a bit but didn't look up. Then she snatched her hands out of his grasp and stepped towards Siddharth.
Siddharth who was ashamed at his weakness raised his hands up in a motion to stop her unsure of himself.
"Please Khushi. Not now. I don't wanna talk about anything. I wouldn't forgive myself if I had done something to you now. I made a mistake and let me revel it, so I could rectify it rather than you trying to soothe me with sweet words this time" pleaded Siddharth.
"No bhai. It wasn't your mistake. Its your natural instinct. You just need to learn controlling it. Don't hold it back. Let me help you. Bhai..." Siddharth had already gone to God knows where before she could finish saying it.
With utter disappointment she turned back only to be pinned against the tree.
Khushi looked up to see Arnav's eyes blazing with untold fury. She had never seen him like this before. She would be lying to herself if she didn't say that she was more frightened of Arnav now than her bhai.

Arnav had followed Khushi and Siddharth out to the gardens slowly. When he reached to where they were standing, the sight shook him to the core.
Khushi was standing with a dazed look, her royal dagger on the ground while Siddharth looked upon her with blood lust filled eyes.
When Siddharth pounced on her, he became aware of where he was and what he had to do. With a flick of his hands he summoned the winds to do his bidding and threw the vampire back on the tree. He held him there while walking forward and placing himself between Khushi and Siddharth.
When he was sure Siddharth had calmed down a bit, he turned back to Khushi and silently demanded her hand. On her refusal to obey, he picked it up himself and healed it. Thank the lords, it was just a bit deep scratch and so, easy for him to heal.
She suddenly started squirming and then snatched her arms away from him. Then she stepped towards Siddharth. He was furious. Here he was worrying that something could have happened to her and she was still talking to the vampire who tried to kill her.
He heard her say that it was not Siddharth's fault but his natural instinct and let her help him.
Something snapped inside him. And in blind rage he pinned her to the tree.

Khushi knew he was furious. But tried to free herself from him without any success. He had a death grip on her. When she tried harder to escape, he forced her back by pinning her down with his body.
It aroused new sensations in her that she was unaware of and refused to acknowledge. And the fact that she couldn't move atall scared her further. Thus she stopped squirming thinking he would let her go.
Arnav completely controlled by his blind rage roared," what the hell is wrong with you? Don't you know to back away from the enemy when you are defenseless?"
That made her furious," he's not an enemy. Siddharth is my Bhai" she spat out.
" the fact that he just tried to kill you made it clear he was not your Bhai" Arnav whispered with a deadly edge.
" he just needs to learn to control his instincts. And he is my brother. I don't care whether you approve or not"
He pressed into her arms further, "Khushi, he's dangerous. He cannot control it. Its his natural instinct. HE'S AN ANIMAL !!!!"
"YOU ARE THE ONLY ANIMAL HERE ARNAV. Not him. Let me go you monster. You are hurting me" she bit out harshly.
He lost his patience, "Khushi. You need to stay away from him. Understood ?!?". Arnav would be damned if he let it go now. He needed to knock some sense into her.
"Who are you to tell me to stay away from him. He's my brother. YOU ARE NO ONE TO ME !!!"
With that she pushed him off her with a mighty force. He staggered back in total shock.
Khushi saw something in his eyes die that instant.
He whispered "You are right. Im no one to you".
He walked away leaving the soft words trailing behind and that's when Khushi realized her grave mistake.
