Khushi: Arnavji, r u alright?

Arnav nods while coughing.

Khushi(rubs his back): Is there water in the car?

Arnav points out and Khushi takes out his sipper from there n gives it to him.

Arnav clears his throat.

Khushi: U r ok,I hope?

Arnav: Ya Khushi,I'm fine. So,as I was saying,when..

Khushi (interrupts): Enough! Now I dont want to hear anything! And now I wont let u say anything either! U have given enough pain to urself and to me, now plz stop!

Arnav: Khushi,let me finish. I want to let it all out tonight.

Khushi: Noways! I dont care whether u r finished with telling ur tale or not! (cups his face) I cant see u in so much pain,Arnavji! The more u recall all that, the more it will make u sad. Forget everything else! Just remember that I have forgiven u n u have forgiven me!

Arnav: Khushi ,I will always be sad for I behaved that way with u. I will regret it till the end of my life! I dont think I will ever b able to forgive myself!

Khushi: Dont say that. More than me forgiving u, its important that u forgive urself. U know Arnavji? When I was about 14 r 15, my babuji had a blue colored sunny. I was really fond of driving it! But since I could not drive really well, amma never allowed me to take it far from home. Once my naniamma was really ill and amma went to Illahabad to see her. It was Itvar. And jiji.. Arnav (interrupts): It was.. what?

Khushi: Sunday,it was a Sunday. Me n jiji were alone at home in the afternoon,since babuji had gone to some customer's place to deliver sweets. I and jiji needed to go to the market to buy some books. We knew that by the time babuji would b back, the shops would have closed. But then we couldnt go leaving the house unlocked. So I told jiji to wait at home, meanwhile I decided to go to the market on the sunny. The result? I had an accident. Arnav(concerned): Did u get hurt very badly?

Khushi: I had a fracture in my right arm, my knees were badly bruised, I got stitches on my chin and there were scratches here n there! Back then, we didnt even have a landline at home. A gentleman and his wife were kind enough to drop me home.

Arnav sees tears in her eyes.

Arnav: What happened Khushi?

Khushi: When amma came to know of my accident, she caught the next bus home. (swallows) Before she reached home we got the news that naniamma had passed away.

Arnav puts an arm around Khushi and gently pats her head.

Khushi leans her head on his shoulder and sniffs.

Khushi: I felt ashamed of myself, coz of my mistake amma couldnt b with naniamma before she died. And on top of that, babuji had to loose so much of his money for my treatment! I kept crying thinking how I would face amma? No matter how many times I apologize, it would never bring naniamma back,w ould it?

Khushi looks at Arnav.

Khushi: Then babuji told me that I never did all that on purpose. I had no plans to injure myself or to call amma back. And amma knew that! And hence she would never b mad at me! And babuji told me that I shouldnt b mad at myself either! The memories of this accident would never let me forget the lesson that I learnt that I must never do anything without informing babuji and amma! (holds his hand) I want to tell u the exact thing tonight, Arnavji! U never hurt me intentionally! And now that u realize that u made a mistake, u regret it and u have decided that u will never repeat it, isnt it?

Arnav nods.

Khushi: What could b better than that? Think about it urself!

Arnav: But Khushi, the way I tortured u in office n even at home, I intentionally asked u to see all the arrangements for the engagement, so that u get hurt. What about that?

Khushi: Whenever u said something harsh to me or u hurt me, I know that u were hurt much more than I was, and it pained u to see my hurt. right?

Arnav doesnt say anything.

Khushi: I know it very well that when I was in pain, u were in pain as well!! U committed mistakes,so u got punished as well, since u urself were sad and in pain,so the matter ends here! Anything else?

Arnav nods.

Khushi: Now what?

Arnav opens his arms and Khushi gives him a tight hug.

Khushi: I told u sucha long story! Did it have any effect or..?

Arnav(gives a small smile): Yes,it did!

Khushi: Really?

Arnav: Yes Khushi, I got ur point!

Khushi: Like what?

Arnav: I have been punished for my mistakes so now it is my duty to make sure that I never commit those mistakes again and that I remember this lesson for life and.. (sighs) I need to forgive myself!

Khushi(pats his back): Well done! Chaliye, now lets go home!

Arnav: Wait! U havent punished me yet! So,come on,punish me now!
Khushi: I dont want to punish u,lets just go home for now!

Arnav: Nope! I wont go home till u dont punish me, till u dont tell me what went wrong when u visitd ur neighbours and ..

Khushi: And?

Arnav: And later, first u punish me!

Khushi: Hmm... pkay.. You..(thinks) ya! You ask di n naniji to forgive u!

Arnav: What!? But y?

Khushi: If u go to see, u have hurt their sentiments, right? So plz say sorry to them!

Arnav: Done! And?

Khushi: Aur what? Thats its, n yes fulfill the promises!

Arnav: Khushi, this aint punishment! U know what it means to punish right?

Khushi: Ji haan! But do u know that when I punish u, I am punished in return!? Its not like only u love me and therefore cant see me in pain. I love u as well! And so I cant see u in pain either! So plz dont ask me to do all this! I cant even think of punishing u, ever!

Arnav: awww!!U r a sweetheart, u know that?

Khushi blushes.

Arnav: Ok,nw point number 2. Tell me the truth,what happened at ur neighbours'?

Khushi: Its a long story, I ll tell u in the morning! Right now,I am sleepy..

Arnav(in a no-nonsense tone): Khushi, tell me!
Khushi makes a face.
