"Phir chor kyun nahi deti aap Anjali ji ko?!" screeched Khushi, her already frayed temper now at it's end, she was scared, and furious and she had just had it, with this damn game of hide-and-seek he was forcing her to play.

Arnav stood, shell shocked, at the terrace door.
This could not be happening.
Jeeju ' somehow while his reprehensible behavior, had come as a shock, it was not what had shaken Arnav. Him, he could deal with.
No.
Him he would deal with.
But'Khushi?
A cruel sadistic voice, laughed silently, reminding him, that there was a reason he didn't trust people. A reason he had seemingly forgotten, after all wasn't it purported that Love had reasons which reason could not understand.
Well obviously Khushi's version of said 'love' also extended to back-ups just in case, she missed reeling in the big fish.
Not unlike his Jeejaji, his sister had merely been a means to an end for him. A golden goose.
Just like he would have been for Khushi.
Disgust rushing through his veins as he forced himself to continue to watch his soon to be Ex-brother-in-law, squirm and flounder at Khushi's pointed barb. And then finally, he turned to leave, he was through with these people, both of them. Not that that meant he was letting them go, oh-no, let them grope at each other for a while, let them think they were still undiscovered, unheard ' by the time he was done with them they would long to be just that.
And yet just as he turned, a cloyingly sweet voice, laced with a sarcasm he would have never believed it could emit, held him rooted.
Later, much later, he would thank the gods that he refused to believe in, that it had.

"Kya huwa? Aap chup kyun hogai? Kya hogaya apki pyaar ko?" asked Khushi, her each word laced with venomous intent, as she barely held in check her revulsion, in being anywhere near this monster.
And yet somehow, she managed to hold herself in check, fears were meant to be conquered, and Devi Maiyan ki Kasam she would conquer this damn sense of apprehension she felt every time he was around if it was the last thing she did.
She had done nothing wrong and she was sick of walking on eggshell's regardless.
"Main batao?" she asked her voice sweeter still, as if offering a child candy, "You, will never leave Anjaliji, because you are using her, you are manipulating her and you seem to think for some god-forsaken reason that you are the only person who sees what you're doing!" She laughed, maliciously at the surprised panic now surfacing on his face.
"Are you afraid?" she taunted. "You should be... Do you really believe, that you're being married is the only thing stopping me from rushing into your arms? How delusional are you? I never wanted to get engaged to you in the first place ' and this was back when you had us all convinced you were the ideal-lodger with nothing but acchai to your credit, not to mention single. Yet you expect me to run into your arms, when I know the only thing you are is a perverted, stalker who also happens to be a manipulative son-of-a-bitch. You know what maybe you're not evil after all; maybe you lack brain cells not to mention basic human decency."
Red in the face from the slew of insults Khushi had been laying at his door, Khushi watched semidetached as the marks of clear maniac gleam, returned to his dead-fish-eyes, "Dekhiye humnehi apko us din ...Lucknow mein..."
"Cherne se bachaiye the?" she cut in. Somehow she'd known he would say that, manipulative he may be, but original he was not. "Toh?"
"Toh aap..hum par'"
"What I owe you..yehi kehne ki kosish kar rahehe aap? Sharam varam hain nahi kya apko? Do you really think just because you happened to step in for god-knows what reason, I'd be grateful enough to have an affair with a married man? Or barring that ... you even? Chi!"
"Dekhiye Khushiji...humari hakh..."
"Hakh?" She cut in, yet again, " Ohh...toh phir, according to your logic, hum par hakh sirf ek hi insaan ka hain. Arnavji ki."
