CHAPTER 6
A smart move…
'Register post,' she heard the postman shout. Her father went outside to receive the post.
'Sir, Geet Handa kaun hai?' enquired the post man.
'Geet Handa meri beti hai…kya baat hai?' asked a confused Mohan.
'Sir, yeh post Geet Handa keliye aayi hai. Yeh register post hai to unhe hi isse receive karna hoga.'
'Damn! Geet keliye kaun post bhejega? Theek hai, rukho…Geet! Geet darling!'
'Yes bauji, what's the matter?' asked Geet, coming out eating a big bar of chocolate.
'Geet, there is a post for you. Take it.'
'Post? For me? From where?' asked Geet, pretending to be confused.
She signed the slip and received the post and glanced at the sender's address. American central jail, it said. 'Oh my god! Mumma's letter! Yes!' she exclaimed and ran inside, leaving behind a flustered and confused Mohan.

Dear Geet,
I am really proud of you beta…I am extremely happy that you have chosen to help that boy. That is my girl. I just can't describe what I am feeling right now. I just want to come and crush you to me. My princess, when did you become so matured?
Anyway, coming to the point, where is that boy now? Did you try to find out more about him? Why is he being treated like that? Did he react the same way this time if you did went to his room again? Give me a detailed explanation of the scenario there. I know your father only too well and I can understand this atrocious behavior of him. That kid might have suffered a lot because your father didn't spare his sister then why would he spare some poor boy? Geet, you have to help him in every way you can. Pretend you are doing something. Pretend something has happened to him or whatever and take the charge of taking care of him and helping him to come out of this mess. I know you will not let your mother's hopes die and will definitely succeed in whatever you have thought.
Ask Dory more about child psychology. You are a kid so you can easily understand the woes of another kid. I, being an adult, can't help you much in this matter. You should deal this problem entirely your way. I can give you only suggestions. Did you understand what I told? Do pen down as soon as possible. Will be waiting for your answer.
May god always be with you, my princess!
Yours truly,
Smriti maa
A smile adorned Geet's face as she read her mother's letter. Her determination increased up a notch as she felt her mother's hopes. She was living her life as well. That life which now had been imprisoned behind bars. It would take a long time for her mother to come out of the prison. Until then she had to live with her good for nothing father. She had cried, complained, and cribbed when the court had told its decision of giving a 14 years sentence to her mother. But her mother had simply said 'jo hota hai achche keliye hota hai.' Today she understood what her mother had meant. If all those wouldn't have taken place then she never would have met this kid. Then he would have died, without having strength to fight for himself. Geet was glad to be here for the first time since she was here.
She read and re read her mother's letter several times, trying to figure out a way to help this agonized kid. There had to be a way. She just stared at her mother's letter, her brain out of focus. But something written made her brain snap. Pretend something has happened to him caught her eyes. Pretend something has happened to him. Pretend something has happened to him. The sentence signaled her brain. Yes! This was it! Her muddle head father had unknowingly helped her in this mission.
After watching a series of stupid movies with the concept of re-incarnation, she had resigned to the fact that movie makers had no originality left in them, hence were making such pathetic attempts to entertain people. But not in the slightest, not even in her dreams she had foreseen that this very ludicrous idea would make way into bringing the light in the darkest life of the boy. Simple! He had to be born again!
With that new hope, she ran to the telephone room, taking care that her father was still in talks with Mangal and dialed a number which would help her in this mission of breathing new life into the rotten mass of the boy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mohan was too busy to notice someone had come to his place. He was too busy to notice that someone went out of his mansion as well. The developments taking place in his mansion, under his very nose, was unaware to him. Thanks to his obstinate stupidity and ridiculously strong belief in the words of the soothsayer, he failed to his see what his daughter was brewing up. He was busy foreseeing the work in the room next to Geet's, where the attempts of making it soundproof was taking place.
Geet jumped in joy as the first step was successful. In moments, what she intended would take place and then, after that, neither would anyone ever bother her again nor did she have to live in fear. She looked up to thank her Jesus Santa and ran to her father's room to hear out the aftermath.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mangal ran into his master's room, panting. Mohan was highly confused by this odd behavior and asked 'kya hua Mangal? Tum aise bhaag kar kyun aaye?'
'Mal…mal…malik…woh ladka…woh ladka mar chuka hai!'
'Kya???' asked a highly frightened Mohan 'kaise? Tumne theek tarah se dekha?'
'Haan malik…main uske liye khaana lekar gaya tha aur bohot der se usse uthaane ki koshish ki par kuch nahi hua. Woh saas bhi nahi leraha hai malik…woh mar chuka hai.'
Mohan was silent for some time, trying to digest the fact that his nephew was no more. His eyes clouded with pain when he became that Mohinder again, who loved his sister so much, but soon transformed the same old evil man as he remembered that she fled with the very man whom he hated. This boy was his sign and his death wasn't really painful. In fact, he shouldn't be bothered about it at all.
'Mangal! Koi baat nahi…achcha hai woh mar gaya…har pal mujhe uss haram zaade ki yaad dilaata tha jisne mujhse meri behen cheen li. I don't care a damn. Ek kaam karo, jaakar uss ladke ko abhi ke abhi bahar faink do aur uss kamre ko saaf kardo.'
'Theek hai malik…par uss kamre ka kya kare jo hum uske liye banwarahe the…'
'Hmm…we were making it soundproof, right?' said Mohan and Geet, who was waiting for that particular moment, butt into the conversation.
'Soundproof did you say bauji?' she came running into the room, her eyes twinkling with happiness that Mohan mistook as excitement of hearing something interesting.
'Yes dear, we have a soundproof room over here. The room right next to yours…'
'Oh bauji…it is so good for acoustics… I mean all that concerts and things. Do you mind if I have that room provided you don't require it anymore?'
'You need that room? But why darling? What would you do in that room?'
'I could put the loudest volume and dance without disturbing anyone. You know I love loud noises. But making loud noises in this place freaks me out because it echoes every single scream ten times. But if I have a soundproof room then I could shout how much ever I want and I can practice ballet as well. Please bauji, don't deny' she pouted her lips cutely.
If this request seemed any strange to Mohan, he hid it and smiled 'ah! Of course, my princess, you could have that room. It is still half finished, so you have to wait for a while.'
'Not a slightest problem, but why didn't you tell me you were making a soundproof room. Why did you need that room anyway?'
'Erm…actually…erm…I was thinking of…erm…well…I was thinking of making a home theater but looks like you are more interested so I will let you have that room.'
'Oh thank you bauji' Geet flashed a fake smile of love. 'Anyway, could I plan that room the way I want? Could I? C-o-u-l-d-I?'
'Definitely, my dear…go and tell that fellow who is working of what you want in that room. He will get it ready…' Mohan smiled and Geet took off at top speed.
'Jao aur uss laash ko abhi ke abhi bahar nikalo…' commanded Mohan and Mangal left to dispose of Chintu's body, unaware that Geet was following him stealthily.
PRECAP:
'I just don't know from where you get all these ideas. I mean you are just 9!'
'Oh come on, Drooly! You know I am smart!'
'Don't you dare call me Drooly! I am the age of your mom!'
'But you aren't my mom but my best friend, so stop whining and help me with this before my muddle head father and his scared servants turn up! This has been one hell of a brain wave for me!'

PS: okay, so how was the update? I think you are all smart enough to understand what transpired in this update. *grinning cheekily* my Geet is really smart for her age. From now on, the updates are going to be fun as well as painful, not to mention, extremely painful. Read it at your risk *escapes from the computer lest a sandal should pelt through it* LOL!
