If it isn't funny, I still would appreciate youre comments.
The bet had been set by both and now that they thought about it, a lot could go wrong. Arnav literally threatened both his brother to give their best and not get distracted while everyone wondered why Khushi was so hell bent on winning.
The next day, both families gathered to what was to be a fabulous event. In both groups, the people were put together like this: Nani was to do a pair dance with NK and so were Payal and Garima. Mami and Buaji wanted to tackle each other seperatly and knowing their mutual dislike towards each other, the rest of the families gave them this one chance to get at each other. As a bonus to each group, Arnav and Khushi had to perform on something seperatly. What exactly they were doing was kept a secret from the rest.
The evening started with a shocking but sizzling dance by Nani and NK. Their chemistry was amazing and the fabulous dancing skills of Nani over shadowed the mistakes NK did. When both ended their performance, everyone knew that Payal and Garima would have to do a lot better to beat the team of NK and Nani. Garmia was no good dancer. The only dancing she had ever learned at her maternal home was classical bharat natyam. And Payal has also learned a little from her mother when she was a school going child. Although their dance was nothing compared to that of Nani and NK, Garima and Payal got a huge round of applause for their perfectly synchronized dance.
"Ok everyone. I think we all can agree that round one goes to Nani and NK. Without waiting we will continue with Mamiji and buaji." The two ladies in question were dressed in their usual clothes with in Buaji's case was a simple, beige Sari and in Mami's case a brightly coloured and shiny Sari. Both had decided that the best way to see who was better was to perform on the same song. As the music started playing, the mouths of the guests fell open. Beedi Jalaile from the movie Omkara started playing on full volume and the two plump ladies started swinging their hips dangerously from left to right and back. The on locker were unsure if to be amused or not but then they all started cheering for their respective groups. Shortly before the end, though, Mami's sandle got stuck in her Sari and she came crashing down. Buaji took this opportunity to win their challenge and ended gracefully, not bothering about Mami who was laying on the floor.
"Well, what can I say about this performance?" Anjali was still lost for words. She looked around and was relieved that she wasn't the only one to feel like this.
"Both Mamiji and Buaji were equally good but I guess, the little downfall will be counted against Mamiji." Mami was about to protest and Anjali made a sorry face. Well, nothing could be done now. What had happened had happened.
"I think we all should have a short break of ten minutes. Then it is time for Chotey and Khushiji to perform and depending on their performance the winner will be announced." Khushi and Arnav gave each other a quick glance before going separate ways. Arnav had thought to do something that no one would expect him to do and so get a bonus of doing something different from the usual. Khushi had thought about the same lines and so quickly changed her dress to get ready. Her performance will surely knock Arnav off his socks and that was always worthwhile.
Ten minutes later, everyone was gathered back in the main hall and waiting for Arnav to start. He had actually wanted to be last but Khushi was not in sight so Anjali asked him to start.
"Sorry Naniji, I am late." Khushi joined Nani and stood hidden behind her.
"It's ok, Khushi bitya. What have you planned?" Nani asked curiously seeing dress. Khushi smiled a mean smile.
"Nani, I am planning to knock Arnaji off his socks today. He will see today that if no one that Khushi Kumari Gupta has the power to'" But she shut up as Arnav started to sing. The audience stood mezmerised as Arnav sang in a masculine but beautiful voice. The song was English and unknown to Desi girl Khushi but no matter what he sang, it was the how that mattered. Arnav purposely looked at a certain point right above the heads of those listening. He knew that he would get nervous if he saw the face of Khushi. His song was short but now it seemed almost impossible to Anjali and the others that Khushi will be able to top that. Khushi smiled at Arnav and got on the stage when he got down. She was dancing, obviously, and when the music started to play, only the older family members and guests recognized the song. And when Khushi started to dance, they saw something rather unexpected. Khushi was opendly flirting with Arnav.
Haasta hua noorani chehra
Kali sulphe rang sunahara
Teri jawani.. Tawba tawba re ..
Dilruba Dilruba, Dilruba Dilruba,
Haasta hua noorani chehra
Pehle teri aakhon ne loot liya door se, pehle teri
Pehle teri aakhon ne loot liya door se
Phir ye sitam humpe ki dekhna goroor se
(O deewane) -2
(Tu kya jaane) - 2
Dil ki bekarariyaa hai kya
Haasta hua ...
Jee bhar ke tadpale jee bhar ke pyaar kar, jee bahar ke
Jee bhar ke tadpale jee bhar ke pyaar kar
Sab kuch gawara hai thodasa pyaar kar
(Tu hi dil mein) - 2
(Dil mushkil mein) - 2
Ab na dil ki mushkile bada
Haasta hua ...
The lyrics of the song went quite well with how Arnav always behaved around Khushi and it made his cheeks go bright red. Khushi saw this and pushed it a little more. The song ended shortly after and the audience applauded. Khushi's family was alaramed at her behavious but Nani told them that this was all preplanned. Arnav, too, wondered what had gotten into Khushi. For a second he hoped that she might mean it but he knew that she was up to winning this challenge just as much as he was.
Finally, Anjali declared the results. It was a tie. Anjali didn't want the families to get into petty competitions when they were going to get related and so decided to keep it even. Everyone was happy and congratulated each other but two people were not happy at all. Arnav pulled Khushi to the pool side and glared at her as if this was all her fault.
"Don't look at me like this. Even I am not happy that it is a tie. I had thought of such a nice punishment for you, you know." Khushi pouted.
"Oh yeah? Even I had a punishment that would make you go crazy." After a second Arnav's anger vanished an a smiled appeared on his lips.
"Wait a minute Khushi, we both won, didn't we? So technically, we each have the right to punish the other."
"Good idea. I have it all on this paper what you have to do tomorrow." Arnav also took a sheet of paper and wrote down quickly what Khushi had to do tomorrow.
"So Miss Khushi Kumari Gupta, see you tomorrow then and don't even think of missing one thing from this paper."
"I won't Mister Arnav Singh Raizada. I will see how you suffer tomorrow."
Saying this, both returned to the hall.
The next morning:
Khushi had come to Raizada house. Arnav had given her four things to do the entire day
1. Khushi had to wear a dress which was free from pompoms and any sort of glittering stoned.
2. Khushi had to get through the day without uttering one word from her mouth
3. If possible, Khushi had to keep away from him as much as possible
4. Khushi was not allowed anywhere near Arnav's room, no matter how important it was.
Well, to others it may not seem such a bad punishment but Khushi started struggeling with the first point. Finally, she borrowed one of Payal's dresses and found them plain boring but she had no other choice. Then, she had to keep silent and this was very tough. Khushi knew from experience that this can lead to unwanted incidences and so she prepared a notepad and pen to keep with her all the time. This way, she would be able to communicate with others. About point three and four, well, Khushi was glad that she now got a reason to keep away from Arnav. She knew that after she had given him the items for his punishment, it was probably safer for her to be far, far away from him.
Arnav had seethed in anger when he had read Khushi's punishment. They consisted of only three points:
1. Arnav was to mingle with his family and talk in a friendly tone every time an opportunity arose, be it someone talked to him or he had to talk to them
2. Arnav was prohibited to get angry and mutter his famous 'What the''
3. Khushi was to give him two itmes which he had to wear the entire day.
Arnav was already set to kill Khushi for point one and two and wondered what the crazy girl had in mind for point three. He got out of his thought when he saw Khushi at his door, with a plastic bag in her hand. Khushi gave him the bag and showed her the notepad on which was written: Arnavji, wear these and come down. I will wait there for you. Khushi ran away before Arnav had the chance to look into the bag.
Downstairs, the entire family was gathered. Anjali tried to talk to Khushi but she didn't say a word. Since Khushi was so fond of talking, her written contribution to their dialoge was equally lengthy. The family were stunned as to their bet and that Arnav was to be friendly towards everyone. In their own minds, they made plans to make best use of this already. Ten mintutes later, they saw Arnav descend, wearing a shirit and trousers. But once they realized what the "additions" to his outfits were, they all burst into laughter. Arnav was wearing one of his old sweatshirts which was now embroidered with golden studs all over them. The sleaves of his arms was dangling pompoms but this was nothing compared to the head band he wore. Two pompoms were dangling each from either side and swung every time his head moved. The red of his face and eyes went well with the colour of one of the pompoms.
As Arnav looked at the chuckling Khushi, he swore himself that one day, one fine day when she won't be expecting it he will get back at her for this. But till then, he will have to get through the humiliation of being the male version of Khushi for the time being.
(Maybe) To Be Continued'
Here a pic of the way Arnav may look after the fashion make over by Khushi...

I guess he won't be laughing like in this picture 😆 and sorry to make it look so unprofessional but I am not good with photo editing... !!!
