Time is a dimension… that whisks by in the happiness while drags endlessly through pain. But it was in the moments like these when it chooses to stand still… unmoving… unrelenting as the world around amends itself to dwell into the eyes of that certain someone who perpetually commands the musings of your heart.
Beautiful, serene, innocent, pure… his mind fell short of synonyms to define the ethereal magnificence of Geet as she coyly stood beside the huge pillar partially shielding herself from the intent pair of eyes that did nothing to pacify her hammering heart. Maan basked in the virtuous sight of Geet, who looked angelic in her simple white saree with minimal work at the border that glimmered in the light of the candles. Nothing made sense, as he felt himself drawn towards her with an invisible vigor that bonded him to her yet he couldn't get himself to move or blink lest the image chose to disappear. However, what brought a tender smile on his lips was her twitching lips and the fingers that incessantly twisted the edge of her saree pallu. He wondered whether she even knew what she was capable of. The nervous beauty was no less than the mortal image of Aphrodite that not only enchanted him but also fascinated him filling his heart with a surge of affection and adoration. He knew what she was aspiring to do and why and the knowledge touched his heart. And then as he heard the mystifying tingle of her bangles, he took the first step towards her.
His eyes were on her, and she could feel it. It as true that she was around her friends the whole day but then there was this nervous anticipation with a kindled flame that had ignited within her when she had watched the swift movements of her man kicking and punching in air. The knowledge that the evening belonged to them, just him and her did nothing to appease that awareness. She knew he was observing the play of emotions on her face and recognized the fleeting sentiments that's cascaded her eyes. When Anu had suggested a date, her heart had done a flip-flop at the opportunity presented in front of her to spend some time with him. She was thankful to Anu, Yash and Vicky for arranging this evening for her and Maan. But then, the choices she had made were not what they had suggested… instead she chose what she knew would be his taste and preference. And so she chose a saree over the dress, a resort booked for only the two of them instead of a ball room gathering, tulips over the orchids and roses… yet what she had not fathomed was what this evening would have in store. She smiled to herself and in an attempt to hide from him, she simply flipped and shielded herself behind the pillar. In an attempt to gather her thoughts, she shut her eyes as she plastered her back to the pillar. There was no denying that she was in no control of herself today. As desperate as she felt to speak to him, she couldn't put away the image of Maan practicing his thi-chi… she couldn't put away the sensation that took hold of her when he was so close to her and yet she had begrudged the distance that persisted. Flushed at her own thoughts, she took a deep breath to calm her senses but much to her predicament the salty breeze from near the shore reminded her of the intoxicating smell that had overwhelmed her in the morning… "Hey baba ji" she gasped at her thoughts and her hand flew towards her mouth while her eyes snapped open to see the man of her thoughts looking right back at her in amusement. Not trusting herself to be so close to him at this time, she pushed him back and ran away, leaving a perplexed Maan behind.
"Yash whats with your taste? Ek bhi achchi CD nahi hai" Anu grunted slamming the small compartment of his car shut. Yash threw an indignant look at her before turning his attention back to the road, "Sorry… tumhari playlist wale koi songs nahi hai mere paas… eww what were those numbers you and Geet were zeroing on for the date!" he shuddered earning a smack on his arm. "It's soothing and deep… you need to be in love to understand that" Anu said cheerfully but then as she realized what she had just said she fell quiet and looked a bit uncomfortable. Yash gave her a small smile of understanding and took her hand in his, "Try me" he whispered and Anu looked up to meet his eyes. Something flickered in his eyes that she couldn't really understand or more precisely, denied to reconcile. But no sooner than that unnamed feeling had risen, it subsided when he said, "waise I wonder ab tak tumhara woh khadoos bhai pagal kaise nahi ho gaya… I mean, tum aur Geet… it's a deadly concoction" he rolled his tongue as he feigned to be scared while Anu gritted her teeth.

Running away to the far end corner, Geet admonished herself and said, "(Looking up) Yeh kya ho raha hai mujhe babaji? Maan ke saamne aane se mujhe aise ghabrahat kyun ho rahi hai?? (Shakes her head) Meri hi galti hai… kya zaroorat thi aise Maan ke gym main jaane ki?... par mujhe kya pata tha ki woh wahan… waise… bina shirt ke… (she smacked her head) chi chi Geet… kya soch rahi hai??..." And her rants are abruptly cut short when she felt his warm hands on her shoulder and he leaned forwards to whisper, "kya hua Geet?" said that he gently ranhis hands over her bare arms and leaned in more to place a gentle kiss on the nape of her neck. While her breathing hitched, she could sense him smiling against her skin and turns in his arms to face him.
Maan knew something was up with her. Yes… Geet was a shy type but then her shyness would usually be a result of his instigation; otherwise he would usually face a defiant and a confident Geet. But then, she was flustered today… and he wondered what could be the reason behind so. Her actions mystified him and when she pushed him away, he trailed behind her to find out the basis of her discomfort. And it was then that he heard her rants and he felt not only pleased but also contented at the revelation of her desire for him. Unable to hold back, he held her gently escalating her state of disarray and straightened when he felt her turn. To keep his hands to himself, he tucked them in his pockets and though no longer angry with her, he concealed his admiration of her efforts and painted a grim look on his face. It's a payback time Geet Handa, he mused to himself.
Geet blinked back to clear the mist that was obstructing the rational processing of her mind when she saw him looking at her in a firm manner. His hands drawn into his pockets now, she wondered whether his nearness from just a moment ago was only a figment of her imagination. "Maan…" she called out to him gently but he refused to glance at her instead he turned away eliciting an urgent call as she rushed to come and stand in front of him, "Maan… meri baat toh suniye" she tried again but instead he said, "der ho rahi hai Geet… humme chalna chahiye". She looked up at him bewildered, she did all this for him and he's suggesting to go home already… she made a face but quickly composed herself realizing that it was her mistake in the first place that she had spoiled their happiness on their engagement. "Maan… main… main…" she stuttered trying to formulate a complete sentence. "kya hai Geet? Anu asked me you were here with yash and I should pick you up… now can we leave?" he asked in a firm voice without giving her a chance to speak. Pouting like a little kid, Geet tried her luck again, "Maan… woh… maine aapko… yahan… woh… sorry…" she fidgeted with her saree pallu while trying to formulate her apology.

"Stop stop stop…" Anu shrieked in excitement. Baffled, Yash pulled off the vehicle from the road and applied brakes before turning to her, "Anu are you alright? Kya hua?" he asked concerned. "Kuch nahi hua baba… mujhe gola khaana hai" she pointed at the ice-candy vendor at the end of the street. "WHAT!" he snarled but before he could admonish her, she had already stepped out of the car and rushed towards the ice-candy cart. "God help me!" Yash muttered under his breath before he unclasped his seatbelt and followed her.
"Ek kala khatta dena bhaiya" she asked the vendor rubbing her palms in glee when she saw Yash joining her with an disapproving look. "It's freezing cold! Aur tumhe gola khaana hai?" he asked but Anu shrugged and took her candy. Completely dismissing him, she sipped the sugary syrup from the ice savoring the tangy flavor of the candy with her eyes closed. Yash rolled his eyes as he looked at her… but a moment later, his gaze turned soft as he admired her. He smiled as he noticed that she looked no less than a little kid who had just been granted her small treat of chocolate… the moment brought back hope… hope that there was this same old Anu hidden somewhere behind this girl who was trying her best to cope up with the unsympathetic twists of her life.
"Bhaiya, ek orange wala bhi dena" her demand broke through his thought. "Anu, kya kar rahi ho? You may fall ill" he tried to make her see some sense but she simply stuck her tongue out at him before beginning to relish her treat again. "Tum nahi loge?" she asked when she finally noticed that while she was on the verge of finishing two, he had not even taken one… "Nope" he denied. "Don't be a spoilt sport" she said and offered him her own candy not before adding, "Thoda hi lena". Yash chuckled but not wanting to disappoint her, he complied with her wish. Once she was done, he paid the vendor and they headed towards his car. But as Yash opened the door for her to get in, she asked, "Can we take a walk?"

Enjoying Geet's discomfiture, Maan sighed in exasperation, "I don't have whole evening Geet… I've a dinner meet. Agar tumhe yahan rukna hai toh main driver se keh doonga woh tumhe pick kar lega" he said driving her towards the edge of her patience. Geet squinted her eyes at him, "driver pick kar lega… agar galti meri nahi hoti na toh batati ki yeh statement aapko kitna mehanga pad sakta hai Mr. Khurana" she muttered under her breath. "Excuse me!' he turned to face her and she immediately calmed herself and tried to pacify again, "nahi… kuch nahi…" she said. "So can we leave or shall I leave behind the driver?" he asked again. Geet made a face, "Maan… aap… yeh meeting cancel nahi kar sakte?" she asked mentally kicking herself for not checking if he was free or not. "Kyun? Why should I cancel my meeting?" he asked looking into his blackberry lest she could see the mischief in his eyes. Geet sighed, "Maan… yeh… yeh sab maine…" she tried to tell him but he interrupted her again and inspected the place, "Yeh sab kya Geet? You mean… the decor?" he asked and when she nodded her head slightly, he shrugged, "You should have told me before" he said in an indifferent voice. Her shoulders slumped in resignation as disappointment seeped through her and she turned away from him, "Theek hai jaiye… main toh sirf aapko surprise dena chahti thi… socha tha aapke saath thoda time spend karungi… saara din isi ki taiyaari main laga diya… 2 ghante toh sirf aapke liye ek gift choose karne main lag gaye… magar aapko kya? Aap ka kaam apke liye zyada important hain na… toh jaaiye… koi zaroorat nahi hai driver ko bolne ki… mai Taxi leke ghar ja sakti hoon… aap jaiye der ho rahi hai na aapko… jaiye aap" by the time she finished she was all worked up and at the brink of tears and it was then that he held her elbow and in a swift motion turned her around and pulled her to him.
And when she looked into his eyes, the crinkling laughter and the slight smirk gave away his faade of callousness and her expressions changed from hurt to surprise to sulk, "aap mazak kar rahe the?" she whined. "Kyun sirf tum mazak kar sakti ho?" he asked with a hint of mischief. She pounded her little fist on his chest, "that's not fair" she complained. "Oh! So it hurt?" he raised his brows and she instantly realized her own folly. Guilt took over her as she put herself in his shoes and imagined how bad he would have felt about the whole episode. She bit her lower lip and refused to meet his eyes. Maan smiled and lifted her chin with his finger while he used his thumb to rescue her lip from beneath her teeth. Meeting his gaze, Geet cupped his jaw and started, "Maan, I'm sorr…" but he stopped her by placing his finger on her lips and shook his head forbidding her from speaking out her apology. "Jaanta hoon Geet… tumhe kuch kehne ki zaroorat nahi hai" he whispered placing his forehead against hers. "Maine aapko bohut hurt kiya na Maan?" she asked apologetically. He grazed his nose against hers and replied, "You have the right…" Geet smiled, "I was confident you won't believe that I could get engaged to anyone else" she rued.
Pulling away from her, he gently cupped her jaw as he answered, "Geet, I wouldn't have if it would have been so simple since the beginning. I was ever so confident that nothing could take you away from me… lekin jab tum par musibaten aayi toh tum akeli thi… tum mujhse door ho gayi aur main kuch nahi kar paya… Aur aaj jab tum paas ho toh darr lagta hai… I'm scared to lose you again Geet… darr lagta hai ki kahin phir se…" while he expressed his insecurities it was Geet this time who placed her palm over his mouth and shook her head forbidding him from saying the accursed words. There were tears in her eyes… tears that reminded her of her yearning… tears that made her overwhelmed about Maan's blatant confession of his insecurities and tears of bliss that streamed from the knowledge that she was back to where she belonged. "I'm not going anywhere Maan" she said in simple terms as if it was the foundation of the nature's subsistence. And in all true sense it was all the assurance he needed. He smiled and pulled her into his arms, holding her close to himself.

Yash and Anu walked in the middle of the road silently as Anu kept looking ahead while Yash wondered what exactly was going on in her mind. He had looked at her a little perplexed when she had suggested to take a walk in the middle of the street but then there was no way he could have denied her and so he simply nodded in agreement and locked the car before he walked beside her. More than 10 minutes had passed, yet Anu had not spoken a word escalating his concern for her further. He wondered what triggered this sudden silence when she had been happy just a few moments back. But before he said anything, she asked, "Maan Veerji ab tak aa gaye honge na".
The distant sad note, in her voice didn't go unnoticed by him and he watched as she hugged herself and rubbed her palms on her arms, "Are you cold?" Yash asked a question of his own. Anu looked at him and smiled but shook her head, "I'm happy… ki kam se kam Geet ke toh sapne poore honge" she sighed. Yash held her elbow, stopping her from going any further. She turned to him questioningly when he asked, "You still miss Arjun?" Anu's eyes turned ice at the mention of his name and she let out a sarcastic chuckle, "He was a farce Yash… an illusion that was never meant to be (she turned away from him)… but it hurts Yash… All I wanted was to love and to be loved back… and it hurts to know that the man I loved only used me… I'm very happy for Geet… but when I see her and Veerji together, I can't help but think ki main bhi toh ek aise hi zindagi chahti thi… Meri zindagi main koi aisa kyun nahi aaya jo mujhe waise hi pyaar kare jaise Veerji Geet se karte hain" her shoulders shook gently when she finished. Yash went to stand in front of her and gently wiping her tears, cupped her face and said, "Anu… abhi bhi kuch nahi bigda hai… leave it behind… apni zindagi ko ek mauka do… tumhe zaroorat nahi hogi but look around you… there are people who need you and want to see you happy" he finished in a desperate plea. Anu simply nodded her and pursed her lips before he took her in his arms and soothed her as she sobbed into his chest.

"Waise you mentioned, you got me a gift" Maan said after sometime pulling away from her eyeing her curiously. She fidgeted with her saree again, "I did? No no… it's nothing" she denied causing Maan to frown. "You planning to usurp the first gift you got me?" Maan asked feigning disappointment yet his curious eyes looked around to look for any unfamiliar object. "Why would I usurp your gift? I didn't get any" Geet turned insolent and lied through her teeth feeling edgy. When Maan's curiosity hitched, Geet turned away in case her eyes would defy her and lay out the truth in front of him.
Yes, it was true that Geet had brought Maan a gift, but then now that the moment to give it to him had arrived she was nervous as to how would he react to her choice for him. If compared to his gifts like the chain that she wore, her gift was nothing too elaborate. But yes, her gift emphasized her taste and she feared that he would mock her again. And so, she hesitated to accept that she had got anything for him at all. Mentally, she even rebuked herself for that momentarily slip of her tongue.
"Oh… so here is it" she heard Maan's voice coming from a little distance and she turned and realized that he had found the packet that she had hidden underneath a table. "Maan" she squealed and dashed towards him to take the packet back from him. But as she reached him, Maan perched it up in the air out of her grip and she jumped around him to take it back. "Maan… please wapis kar do…" she pleaded. "Kyun? No ways… bilkul nahi… you got it for me and I'm not giving it back" he held it higher. "It's not for you" she said impatiently like a small kid. "Really?" he asked with a smirk enjoying her trepidation. "Maan please naa…" she said pouting a bit as she gave up her struggle and stood in front of him. "Pehle batao… kyun chuppa rahi ho?" he asked with his hands on his hips.
Geet slumped on the chair with her face cupped in her palms and Maan sat in front of her. She didn't say a word but his eyes were fixed on her for an answer. Finally, she threw her hands up in the air, "Fine! I was apprehensive" she accepted when he placed the packet on the table. He smiled knowingly and cupped her face urging her to look at him, "Apprehensive? Mujhse?" he looked straight in her eyes. She pushed the packet a little towards him and said, "I wasn't sure whether you would like it or not" she admitted sheepishly. Leaning forward, he kissed her forehead and said, "So now can I take it?" his amusement visible in his eyes as he tried to pull back the packet, "Dare if you laugh" she warned him. Maan chuckled and started unwrapping the packet while he studied her face all the while. When the wrapper was gone, he opened the rectangular box; very much guessing by now what it's contents could be, while she tapped her foot incessantly waiting with baited breath for his reaction. And when he had a better look at the bright red shirt that she had gifted him, he couldn't help it when he burst out laughing. Geet scowled at the insensitive gesture and pulled the shirt out of his hands, "Maan… maine kaha tha ki has na nahi… you you… Monster Singh Khurana!" she whined and agitatedly started placing the shirt back in the box. His laughter died down upon hearing her new acronym for him and he shot up from his chair at once.
"Monster Singh Khurana? Kya kaha tumne?" he towered over her menacingly. Back to her natural kind she placed her index finger on his chest and pushed him back before standing up to face him, "Yes! Monster Singh Khurana… that's what you are!" she reaffirmed. "Geet!" he warned. But Geet placed her hands on her waist and tip-toed to meet his height. "Haan Geet… toh?" she countered. He took a step towards her and in reflex she moved a little behind but then thanks to her being on her toes, she almost lost her balance when his arms circled around her waist to steady her. However, the touch of his warm hands on her bare skin brought back the invisible anxiety that she had been countering ever since the morning. The air whiffed past them, fueling her senses with the smell of his cologne and her eyes adorned the dazed look of being lost in his presence while her hands rested on his chest.
Maan couldn't feel any less affected than she was. The potent of his need coupled with the blaze of his yearning had never been so apparent as it felt now. The hand that had the intention to only steady her was now gently caressing her bare waist feeling the warmth of her skin. He despised the gentle breeze that passed through them and pulled her closer, blowing gently to push past the strand of her hair that obstructed him from drinking her beauty. The faint flickering lights of her candles replicated the flame in her eyes that beckoned Maan. He shut his eyes, living in the moment, submitting himself to her when he bent down to touch her lips with his. With her eyes closed, her hands moved in his hair and she pulled him closer when he deepened the kiss. His one hand supported her waist while the other moved over her back upwards to hold her nape and the two drowned themselves in the kiss that conveyed nothing else but love. It was a kiss that Maan relished and Geet cherished…

Yash stopped the car in front of Anu's house. Though they had not spoken anything after they got back into the car, yet the silence didn't bother them much. She had leaned back on the seat all the way back. And now as they reached, Anu unclasped her belt and turned to Yash, "Thanks Yash" she expressed her sincere gratitude. Yash smiled and leaning in pressed his lips on her forehead. Gently squeezing her hand, he blinked before he replied, "anytime". The expression of warmth touched her deep within and she smiled before getting out of the car. Waving her goodbye, he drove away while she stood there till his car disappeared from her view.

It felt like eternity when Maan pulled away from Geet while she felt heady as the moment consumed her in its passion. Leaning close to her, he chuckled at her state while he nuzzled in her hair. "Red is your favourite colour" he stated as a matter of fact and then holding the pallu of her saree he added, "Just as white is mine…" he said and placed a gentle kiss on the fabric while his eyes were fixed on her. Geet blushed. "Red will suit you… you'll look…" her sentence was cut short when he leaned further to whisper in her ears, "hot!" and he kissed her at the base of her ear. Geet gasped while Maan pulled back just a bit to look at her flushed face. Too shy and conscious, she pushed him back yet again and moved away to look at the vast expanse of the sea as she tried to get a hold over her raging emotions. Taking deep breaths, with her hands placed on her chest, she tried to calm herself when she heard him, "You might not be wrong though… let me try…"
Her eyes widened, and despite her better judgment, she turned abruptly to face him and instantly regretted her decision when she saw Maan slipping his overcoat from his shoulders. "Maan" she panicked and looked around. "Koi nahi hai Geet… aur hota bhi toh kya?" his challenging tone caused her to gulp hard. Meanwhile, Maan had started to unbutton his shirt. Geet took a step back, "Please Maan" she appealed him to stop the torture he was inflicting on her yet she couldn't look away from his captivating smoldering eyes.
Watching her bewildered expressions, Maan took his teasing a notch further while he took a calculated step towards her and had her trapped between a table and himself, "Kya hua Geet? I thought you liked what you saw in the morning", he said with an arrogant smirk, mischief written all over his face while she turned crimson. Unbuttoning, the last button of his shirt, he now brought his hand to cup her face and grazed her cheeks with his thumb, "I love the way you blush" he commented and placed another peck on her cheek. With a bashful smile adorning her face, she immediately leaned into him to hide herself. While, in his arms, she extended her arm to switch the music player, she had set earlier, on… and the song that streamed through was her feelings which she knew she would never be able to formulate in fitting words…
honthon pe sajaya tumhe, nag mein sagaya tumhe
Paaya maine, paaya tumhe, sab se chupaya tumhe,
sapna banaya tumhe, neendhon mein bulaya tumhe
As the music floated through the air, Geet teasingly escaped from his arms taking advantage of his transitory distraction causing him to grimace while he followed her movements with heated glare
She went a little away from him before turning to him and innocently raising her eyes only to get a glance of him from under her lashes.
honthon pe sajaya tumhe, nag mein sagaya tumhe
Paaya maine, paaya tumhe, sab se chupaya tumhe,
sapna banaya tumhe, neendhon mein bulaya tumhe
Ho tum jo aaye zindagi mein baat ban gayi
Sapne teri chahaton ke, sapne teri chahaton ke
Dekhti hoon ab kayee
Din hai sona aur chaandi raat ban gayi
Hoo tum jo aaye zindagi mein baat ban gayi
honthon pe sajaya tumhe, nag mein sagaya tumhe
Paaya maine, paaya tumhe, sab se chupaya tumhe,
apna banaya tumhe, neendhon mein bulaya tumhe
Chahaton ka mazaa, faasalon mein nahin
Aa chupa loon tumhe hauslon mein kahin
Sab se upar likha, hai tere naam ko
Khwaishon se jude silsilon mein kahin
Khwaishein milne ki tumse, khwaishein milne ki tumse
Roz hoti hai nayi
Mere dil ki jeet meri maat ban gayi
Hoo tum jo aaye zindagi mein baat ban gayi
Paaya maine, paaya tumhe, rab ne milaya tumhe,
honthon pe sajaya tumhe, nag mein sagaya tumhe
Paaya maine, paaya tumhe, sab se chupaya tumhe,
sapna banaya tumhe, neendhon mein bulaya tumhe
Ishq mazhab, ishq meri zaat ban gayi
Sapne teri chahaton ke, sapne teri chahaton ke
Dekhti hoon ab kayee
Din hai sona aur chaandi raat ban gayi
Hoo tum jo aaye zindagi mein baat ban gayi
Paaya maine, paaya tumhe, rab ne milaya tumhe,
honthon pe sajaya tumhe, nag mein sagaya tumhe
Paaya maine, paaya tumhe, sab se chupaya tumhe,
sapna banaya tumhe, neendhon mein bulaya tumhe
Paaya maine, paaya tumhe, rab ne milaya tumhe,
honthon pe sajaya tumhe, nag mein sagaya tumhe
Paaya maine, paaya tumhe, sab se chupaya tumhe,
sapna banaya tumhe, neendhon mein bulaya tumhe
