Just to reach out to more folks, I opened another thread in Pakistan TV Serial Forum as well.

I will be updating in both places, and then will fade one out depending on whichever thread gathers more moss...😆

Google is also my best-friend, and I don't mind sharing my best-friend with Ashar! 😆

When dealing with one memory or a flashback which return in some form or another is probably because he never fully coped with it...what was he really observing while seeing Khirad in a new lime-light... ;)

Though I find the attraction between the cousins a little undesirable
, don't you think?

ps... I enjoyed reading the discussion between you, Shiza, .Stuff and Nina. ;)

A...We have to share Google with a billion other folks...In someways, I don't call that sharing at all :)

Bang on...it only means he has never viewed Khirad any other way before that incident and the fact that he never fully acknowledged it, makes that one event a stand alone memory.

Being attracted to the cousin, is not a concept unheard of in South India. So...No. I'm not weirded out, though I don't endorse it.
Ah! I wish you could have joined...that would have been more fun. Thanks for writing back.

So my comments are really about the show , not the book.

Again, the problem with showing Ashar the way they have is, I don't hate him. I simply pity him. That's where they made an error I s'ppose. He comes out amazingly dispassionate, almost like he wanted something like this to happen, like if it was a nudge needed to push the relationship over the cliff, he'd do that , just to be miserable.

I agree, in fact , in the initial episodes I thought they rushed things a lot.

As to showing reality, that is again where they come up short. People are way weaker , and insecure yes, but here , Ashar feels like two different people.
The one who accepted Khirad, and wanted to make the relationship work, was different. And the one who started feeling jealous for no reason, entirely different. And so one feels entirely confused with this Ashar.
It must be the scriptwriter then, I dunno. :) Its just that that tiny glitch, and I just cant get over it. entirely my problem ;).. would love to hear from the other(your) side too, so will keep checking out here with upcoming episodes .:)

call me shiza :)

No wonder, i see it from the eyes of someone who has read the book, hence i overlook the little details they forgot to pinpoint as they are already stored in the back of my mind.😆

Bang on more than hate him, i pity as the man to have pushed his own life away with his own hands. We were having this discussion earlier at the AT, about forgiveness whether khirad should forgive and it went around yes she should, because at the core of it, his mother was the cause of all the problem, BUT there was a counter point - would Asher forgive himself? I putting myself in his shoes will say, no. I think that's where one feels bad for him the most. Even he himself at the end says' don't forgive me -

I couldn't have agreed with you more, the show is very close to real life and real relationships. How many times we believe the words of strangers then to give our closed love ones any benefit of doubt? A mother can play a big role in a man's life, especially when she has done nothing wrong in his eyes or even given a reason to doubt otherwise.

I too pity Ashar, but at the same time give him some respect that he has not moved on with his life (with another person) and is still waiting...

one of the major reason for liking this show is because its simple and real. I agree with you, when we can believe strangers, believing our mother is blind faith. The major reason being is, mother is the women who gave you life, who would think she could take it away also? a mother is never defined by her greed or selfishness, rather for her undying love and devotion towards her children.

& agreed about pitying him. the current episode that aired, i felt so bad for him when he came home, he was a robot, with no emotions. How does a mother withstand that? how she not release her child of that agony - how? its terrifying to imagine a mother could be so cruel, but its true and has happened in reality.

You raised a good question earlier, would Khirad ever forgive Ashar or should she and should Ashar forgive him self? But I think the decision lies solemnly with Khirad, what do you say? If she is capable of forgiving him after knowing that it was all his mom's doing, don't you think he should forgive him self...

If you go that route, I will forever question his inaction for four and half years. Life is precious Gurl, to let it go by...to make do with drifting.

aarya it might be true, but its not easy to take in and won't ever be -

i think asher forgiving himself has nothing to do with khirad forgiving him. i don't know i see him as a person who loved endlessly and hated with the same rage, at the end how does he forgive himself for missing out on those four years of his daughters life? imagine his love for khirad and than think how much he would love his daughter. To know he caused so much pain and heartbreak to one person whom he was suppose to support through life, and than there's his dying father's wishes?

You are batting for both sides A... 😉

She is out of the country when she is pregnant and doesn't travel to Karachi. She is again restricted after premature delivery. Even at the nick of the moment, she calls him and he refuses to take her call.
Its also shown she calls him continuously during the pregnancy. She is devastated then with his refusal to grant an audience and begins the hard walling process after the baby is born.

Now the question is how much is too much? And there is always the case of the brittle ego...that refuses to flex beyond a point.
